Effective Armor Screen
Being sort of new to the game I must say that of all the systems operating in the game armor is the most difficult to find out about and understand. There is no information in the manual about armor, and it took alot of digging to come to the understanding I have (although there are still some things I need cleared up).
Solution:
Create an armor screen that shows each piece of armor with the effective armor rating with all runes and enchantments. Also these numbers would change if enchantments or hexes are placed on your hero, that way we, as players, would understand the effectiveness of our enchantments, hexes, runes, armor, and our subsequent vulnerabilities without doing massive experimentation to prove hypothesis after hypothesis.
IE Gloves
Elemental Damage (% reducion or increase of damage due to armor) - (total damage absorbsion)
Physical Damage (% reducion or increase of damage due to armor) - (total damage absorbsion)
Thanks in advance to all corrections, comments, and views for this idea.

Most of that is already there with the inventory screen (i.e. what the armor rating for each piece of gear is).
However, I would love a highly detailed "stats" screen for the experienced RPGer out there. We know the numbers are there, why can't we see them? (i.e. overall armor rating (including affected value due to hexes, etc.), Overall dmg rating of weapon in conjunction with the weapon's governing skill. (i.e. what does my marksmanship level and bow dmg all add up to be? what range? ), etc.

I find it ridiculous that the only stats put out in this game besides the attributes are health and energy. Armor, for being such an "important" statistic, should have been displayed by default along with resistances and hexes/enchantments/etc.
This is the worst MMORPG I've ever seen for statistics. A PvP driven game requires the player to have as much information as they can, so they can fit the appropriate armor instead of 'manually adding the armor values up.' Even the earliest, now defunct, games had more statistics than Guild Wars.

I originally thought the same thing as you guys about the armor, but in Guild Wars, the armor doesn't work as a sum of all of the defenses of your armor pieces. In Guild Wars, where you are hit is where the armor reduces the damage. The same works with resistances (which, as far as I know is only altered by the necromancer's tormentor's set). Normally you have neutral resistances to everything, but you would have less resistance to holy when attacked on that part of your body with the tormentor's armor.
For example, you have 5 head armor and 100 armor everywhere else. An elementalist casts fire storm on you. You don't get 405 defense, you get 5 defense. The armor in the rest of your body doesn't matter when it's only your head getting hit. So mechanically, there is no such thing as an "overall" armor rating.
Unlike some other games, too, there are no inherent evade or accuracy rates, so they would have no place on the statistics screen. Overall, I'd say Guild Wars is pretty good about its statistics.
The only thing I could really see extra statistics for are weapons (but then again, I suppose just testing them by attacking mobs would tell you) such as attack rates, damage, etc.

Magus,
This is why I suggest an armor rating by PIECE with all enchantment and hex modifications. No where do I suggest an armor rating as a whole... that would be useless. Even though there may only be one "set" of armor that changes your elemental resistances there are many hexes and spells that many people would like to see the effect of on armor.
