Default A few problems

this is a collection of information and ideas and problems I've read about in this forum and experienced during game play. Most of this has been said before, but I'm highlighting the things that I think almost everybody can agree on.

Major problems:
Economy. I know this has been discussed exclusively before and that many ideas have been thrown on the table. Prices for items are fluctuating by the tens of THOUSANDS; Possible Solutions: a price chart (blue book) type thing that people base their prices on would be EXTREMELY helpful. That might restrict people too much (the people that want to oversell their stuff to noobs might not like this), so an alternate idea would be to set up several trade districts or even a PLACE in town where you can purchase a stand to sell your stuff at.

Problems with the henchmen. Where do I begin... They aggro monsters you walk by, they cannot be used in teleporters (as far as I know), get stuck and ruin the quest when you die and he's just standing there, and noclip back to the place they died at re aggro the mobs far away from you. Possible Solution: include a very basic control panel for henchmen. Just a little "order" panel that can tell them to stop or attack.

Problems with the cinematics. I'm pretty appalled at this one - When you aggro a mob and then watch a cinematic (and not everybody skips it) you and your party dies. This is CRAZY; You can be watching one of the last cinematics before the end of a mission, and some guy way off away from the group will aggro a boss and you'll all find yourselves dead. This is A MAJOR issue, and I think everybody here can agree with that. Possible solution: return everybody in a party to full health at the end of a cinematic, and make them invincible when the cinematic is going.

Minor issues:

Minimap spammers and group members. I find it increasingly hard finding a party that isn't filled with people that spam the minimap, call everyone gay, aggro 3+ mobs at a time, and end up quitting when you need them the most. There's usually no way to figure out if someone in your party is one of these people, but I find one in just about every other time I do a mission. Possible solutions: possibly make a system that gauges how many times you have WILLINGLY left a group before a mission was over. I don't know how this would work completely affectively, but I'm sure a solid rating system could be put in place to help find groups that can actually finish a mission together. Another idea was to assign everybody a different draw color on the minimap and an ignore button so that you don't have to see their garbage when you're doing a mission. Again: This is just an idea, and I doubt everybody will agree entirely with every thing.

Guild activities It seems to me like after beating every part of the single player game guildwars becomes a bit stale; there's the occasional guild war and stuff, but there's no real "guild-only" missions or guild only events that actually will you to go play with your guild. Possible solution: include some guild-exclusive events and make the actual guild play more of a focus of the game. It's called guild wars!!

I would like to see some guild mini-games at the guild hall. Like you could duel at the guild hall. Or you could, i duno, do stuff.

Economies fluxuate by nature. You can't just nail them to the wall and expect them to stay there.

This idea and variations of it have been suggested millions of times before. Yeah, sure, fine.

Again, suggested before. But agreed.

No. I should have the right to quit out of any group I please, at any time, for any reason, without being penalized as some kind of quitter. If I discover I've inadvertently joined a group full of the people you describe, I'm not going to wait around for them to bail on me.

Agreed. Most of all, I want a scrimmage court.

Major Problems:

1. About this "fluctuating."

The only item that fluctuates by 10s of thousands is the Celestial Sigil. It's used to buy a Guild Hall, and people want Guild Halls right now. You need to remember the game is new, and it will take a while before it starts leveling out, just like anything that deals with supply and demand. Once more people who want Guild Halls have them, the lower the price will go. The more people who want guild halls, the higher the price will be. the fluctuation depends entirely on the community, so there's really nothing the team can do except nerf the price, which wouldn't make any sense at all.

2. Henchmen.
Henchmen aren't retards. there are several ways you can control them. If you don't want them to aggro a group, take it wide around the group. If it's not possible, then you can go back the way you came, and then run along the side you normally would. By doing this, you form a line with them, they follow you exactly, and there's no aggro.
They can use the teleporters, and if you're re-using a teleporter, you have to tele back and get them, and then go through again. Since the teleporter stays active all the time now, it's not a big problem unless you die a lot. If you run into a lot of errors where they get stuck on the terrain, then note of where they get stuck, and in the future make sure they don't get stuck there before you move on.

Usual places are:
Corners
Teleporter Switches
Indents in the texturing(where it's a narrow path you can enter, and have to pull back straight out, like the sides of bridges if entered correctly)

There's a lot more, but that's the gist of what you should watch out for.


3. If you're being attacked by monsters in a cinematic, that means you screwed up yourself. Not the game. Don't run past everything, kill it all and it won't haunt your cinematics. The only time I've ever seen someone attacked was in the infusion run I did. And everyone knows you don't kill jack on those except a few azure shadows and the eidolon. So, don't complain to the dev team that you don't like killing monsters. Quit running past it, and it won't attack you. It won't be able to. It's not a major problem, a superior problem, or a minor problem, because it isn't a problem at all. Fix it yourself.

Minor Problems

1. If you find those kinds of people, then you should notice a pattern in their names. They usually don't have serious names, usually named after obscene body parts, slang sayings, or grown-up activities. If your leader gets a person like that in your group, tell them to kick them or you leave, and state why. And that's the problem with pubbing in the first place. You cannot go into a town, do your "Profession/Second Profession Lvl XX LFG" stuff and expect a top notch group that follows your beliefs. If you want an organized, well behaved party, get into a guild. That's what they're for.

2. This isn't a problem either. It's been released that Guild Wars as it is, is only Chapter 1. Further Chapters will expand on the story, and interactivity of the game. If you beat it, then you should know there's a town called Temple of Ages, that allows you to fight stronger monsters, unlock better items, and PvP with better armor. There is a lot to do after you finish the game, you just need to be more creative and not assume that the dev team is going to hand you everything on a silver platter.

WRONG. I saw the SAME major rune go for 2 thousand and TEN thousand by two different people in the same city in the same district

There are many instances where I've noodled my way through a field of patrolling monsters and came VERY close to aggroing them (but the henchmen did it for me); I could'nt take a wide turn around them.

Usually it's a stupid team member; I have never caused aggro and then started a cinematic; I've done everything in my power to not do it and it still happens. Bottom line: It's still a problem for people that don't know that you can die during cinematics and still happens on accident some times (people talk to the person before checking if anyone has aggro'ed a mob)

I've been to temple of ages and gone into the underworld; it gets boring fast. The game is chapter 1 BUT it DOES NOT mean that some sort of extra guild activities should'nt be added; end game should still be fun even if the story doesn't progress.

Again: I AM ALREADY AWARE that I'm restating some of the most popular opinions. The reason for this thread was to actually sum up what I thought most of you wanted so that we can all agree on a few changes. The major changes are the ones that are most solid.
