Past level 20, the death penalty gets harder and harder to work off...
But why?
Well as far as I can tell DP work-off is based on percentage. You get X percentage and you lose 1% death penalty.
Which is fine, but past level 20 you get more and more experience, and your bar grows more and more but you aren't getting any better.
You're not getting any more health, and more damage, etc. So there's really no reason for your experience bar to grow bigger.
But it does, and thus whenever you recieve a death penalty it becomes harder and harder, requiring more and more XP, to work off. It shouldn't be like this IMO. They're basically punishing you for earning more XP past level 20.
Some may argue "well don't die then" and that's fine. But sometimes when you're out and about you really can't help it. It happens, through a flaw or just out numbering from one of those spots where 50 ice fiends spawned and you're liek 'wtf'?
Yah, you know what I'm talking about (well PvErs at least...).
So why do we get penalized for simply playing the game?

It's every 250xp you will lose 1 DP regardless of level.

I've been to that place (just NW of Marhan's Grotto, right? ), but I thought that in each group there were 25 Imps (imps right?), but there were 3 groups, for a total of around 75

indeed.
Because instead of giving you say, a level 28 monster, they just give you 6 level 20s.
And six level 20s are damn harder than a level 28, however they don't give the same amount of XP.

I do.
Mainly because Avicara braves only give me 21 XP (I'm with a party of 7 henchmen btw as people never seem to wanna just go exploring to see what's out there) so I have to kill roughly 12 of these (it's actually a fraction but you can't get .907641 of an enemy) to remove one point.
Sooo they travel in groups of like 6 (sometimes 12 if two groups merge together). I'm guaranteed to die at least once per every fifth group or so (henchmen don't work well together. I think Alesia is jealous that Reyna has the heart of Little Thom).
That's at least 15% death penalty per zone (considering the henchmen die, they get DPs too, they get weaker, die quicker to allow more time for enemies to come after you) and since I"m not a healer I can't really control me dying, or them dying, or anything.

I agree that DP can get too hard to work off later in the game. Then again, the pve game is pretty easy for a halfway coordinated group and seeing it get any easier is kinda disheartening for those who do like it a lot. Guess that's a different issue though.

your hunting north of granite citadel right? made that place many time yesterday and today. And still, if you dont always die, geting rid of the DP isnt that hard and long ( ok... if you have a 60 DP thats gona be long and hard )

Indeed I was death. Decided that I was bored of saying "Anti-caster Mesmer (with TS/Vent) LFG!" in ToPK and decided to find the great Northern Passage (see what I did there?) that goes from Beacon's to....wherever.
Never did complete the journey. It got to teh 60% death penalty point where one hit was literally killing me and I said "**** it!" and went back to ToPK to spam my message some more.

Well once you go to 60 DP, that's about time you start again because you're going nowhere

Well at that point it wouldn't really matter because I'd just have to fight my way through again and die again and wouldn't get anywhere....again.
If the DP just wore off a bit faster it'd be fine.
It's not that I can't kill the enemies, it's just that they give me 21 XP..maybe if they gave twice that and I only had to kill five (to get rid of a whole freakin 1% of DP) then it wouldn't be so bad.
I'm still waiting for the tankers/farmers to come in and give me their oh-so-insightful 'get monk secondary' opinion.

i wouldn't mind the fact it's wear off faster, but not too fast... think about PvP also, you get DP and can get if off also.

That's true.
It used to be way back in beta on a time limit.
15% wore off over 10 minutes time.
They should do that. Have the timer thing, but keep the system now. So it's either wait 10 minutes or fight it off, whichever comes first.

Yah but if you do that you'd have to do it every time you died.
So you go, die, smoke a cig, come back, die, smoke a cig, come back, smoke, etc until you die of lung cancer.
Maybe 20 minutes?

Ah you gonna take that death?
Anyways, all jesting aside, I think 20 minutes really would be better.
Not to give smokers a longer drag on their cigs but for PvP matches the longest last one I've seen was roughly 20 minutes.
So yah. 10 would be too short in PvP, 20 would probably be better.
