A little PvE anyone..?
I do know the focus of this game is for PvP, but I don't think a little more depth in the PvE field would hurt one bit. This is probably more of a dream than a possible reality, but hey ^_^ doesn't hurt to post?
Anywho, please read all of it if you can as I do put a couple ideas seperated, and then merge them into another idea... you'll see what I mean lol >.>
Some things I'll touch upon are: How much more fun PvE can be, would have a purpose, fulfill that need to collect Über items, and basically farm.
My inspiration is coming from WoW, since I felt it had the best PvE (my second MMO so don't comment on that :P) that I felt had a decent PvE, but it is not my goal to turn this into WoW. I just want to see a more involved PvE setting. ^_^
Anywho, the first part is more likely, and the second part... I doubt will happen.
==========================================
Currently in Guild Wars, you have Missions and Quests to play around in till you finish those, then you have Fissures / Underworld. I haven't gotten far in Underworld, but I hear it's just more items, more xp, and 15k armor in a can.
So what I'm suggesting is (one that is so commonly suggested):
-A place for a group to defend against waves of monsters (in a Guild Hall probably).
--Assuming it's Guild Hall only, the top 10 guilds to get to the farthest wave would be posted on a highscore board.
-We need massive epic dungeons with massive goals, godly bosses, and unbelievably difficult. Glint anyone? ^_^
--These would make Underworld look hard :P
--Did I mention more bosses like Glint? Probably the best boss in Guild Wars!
-A multi-instance dungeon anyone? So you'd have Floor 1, Floor 2, etc as it progressively gets hard.
--Make it a goal to see how deep you get? Or Have checkpoints where you could continue later on and see how far you can get overall?
==========================================
Now I will touch on the lack of reward (except cool bosses!) and farmers. It's a looooong shot, but it's an idea ^_^.
-New *RARE* equipment obtained in the new suggested dungeons and possibly off of a boss each wave in the defence variation.
--This will put an end to people complaining about the lack of armor variety.
--Should be stand-out armor (It's new armor tho, so duh, it'll stand-out )
--Make a profession specific set for starters than move out from there.
--Maybe have some resemble armor of monsters? (Mursaat> Elementalist, White Mantle> Warrior, etc).
-The new equipment would be well above the current pvp ones to farther complete the new dungeons and get higher scores.
--Probably thinking it'll "OMG it'll break pvp!!!" But here comes the next part.
--Possibly... (the whole rare items idea is a big possibly ) make a "Special RP" character creation that unlocks (?) after completing all the missions.
--This special character will ONLY be capable of wearing the new rare equipment and can only go in towns that relate to the dungeons/Guild-hall.
-Will cause a money sink for the rich as they frantically scramble to buy rare equipment as they are found.
==========================================
OK! I think that pretty much covers what's been going on in my head ^_^
It's a lot of maybes, good ones, and some stupid ones. That's what suggestions and ideas are all about ^_^.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Just a little bump, I know I shouldn't. I just want to know if these ideas are worth commenting or whatever =S

Adding onto PVE would be nice. I was thinking something along the lines of Lineage 1. I can't remember the name but they had the arena where you teamed up with random people that participated and you fought oncoming monsters. It got harder and harder until you were talking hellish mobs that were the toughest in the game. They should imput this and make minor rewards such as some plat. Make a simple entrance fee and wala, you have a minor PVE repetivive and competitive area.

Some of those neat ideas, except for introducing equipment that is significiantly better than PvP, or otherwise undermanning the balance issue. The whole sort of Last Man Standing endurance mode thing would be fun. And of course, more FoW/Underworld type stuff is going to be an eventual necessity to keep people interested in PvE content active, but Grenth's Footprint and Sorrow's Furnace are on the horizon for that, and are supposedly quite large.
Basically, anything that introduces more ways to play the game is generally a good idea. Although, we could use some more PvP game types, too. Whatever happened to the Siege from Beta?

I'd like a larger pve area, but I think they would need to put some more town like things where you can kind of save your place and sell the items that you have collected and things. I believe you posted that up there, but I just wanted to point out that would have to be like a major thing for them to have if they would do this.

I disagree with you saying finding new rare items need a new game type. I say let normal RP characters use them, just dont let them go into PvP arenas until they are equipped with proper (perfect at max -pvp perfect that is) gear. And let the godly gear go for PvE so there can be more expanded areas with need for better gear.
I love PvE. I also love PvP but not so much in roleplaying games, I'm more of a PvP player in RTS and FPS. I love finding new items, leveling up, beating bosses, unlocking unlockables and the works. The limiting of this does make me want to play PvP more, but I would rather have the PvE game increased. More areas, harder mobs, more skills and professions (eventually?) and the survival mode you stated would be cool too. However, you couldn't make the rewards too big or else it would just be a huge farm fest and then you also would have to implement rules similar to the PvP arenas (gear restrictions) if you were talking about having a ranking system involved.
I'm also up for armor posed as enemies. That would be cool. Or even posed as famous NPC's or whatever. eg) Brother Mhenlo's robes! Prince Rurik's armor! etc.. Its more just cosmetic stuff (probably make it really expensive and have it as top armor ratings to enable it to be viable.) If this kind of addition isnt possible, why add beer when you could add more practical additions?
Anyways, expand PvE! I love it how it is but the more the better!!
