GuildWars Rune Trader bug.
Included is a screen shot.
The way this is used is a little distrubing... Yes it sets the fair market values for the runes which I LOVE!!! However the original intent was to only be able to buy runes that you have already unlocked, just like in PvP... Thus the runes you have not unlocked you would not be able to purchase... But you would be able to see the value of it... for the current market price. Currently you can buy EVERYTHING even if it is not unlocked yet.
So it still needs tweaked. by only allowing you to buy the runes you personally have unlocked for use in the game. this prevents the need to find it again when you upgrade your armor later. BTW: Notice the Needless spamming has reduced overnight? I love it... ty...

I agree, it would be a nice reference for the runes on hand and still give you a reason to look for runes, and it would please the rune traders since this method wouldn't undercut them and cripple their business.

It'd also be nice if the rune trader had separate tabs for each class.
It's kind of spammy.

yeah, the display is sort of assaulting for the untrained eye. As it is, I have to look for the rune color/size I want, and then highlight it by rolling over it with the cursor to see what it does. I think to fix that, they need to make the initial window larger, I widened it, and it is a lot easier on the eyes then.

I'll mention that. it would be nice to have it regrouped by class not type as it is now..
Sort order (Suggestion)
Class (Ranger, Warrior, monk, Ect...)
Attribute effected
Rune type (Minor, Major, Superior)
Current sort order is
Rune type
Attribute
Class.
resulting in having to look through entire list for the right one... and its easy to mix them up when scanning them... Again I think this will be better once they fix the bug with buying runes not unlocked. ... After all, this makes the PvP characters have access to ALL runes in the game, because you can put them in storage and equip them on your PvP character from there... Which defeats the purpose of unlocking skills... so this does qualify as a bug in the method. it will be fixed soon...

Added rune traders. Be aware that these traders specifically deal with already-identified runes, so runes you buy from them are for the purpose of wearing, not unlocking.
|
What this means is that people sell already-identified runes to the rune trader, thus the runes you buy from the rune trader are already identified. This simply implies you can't unlock runes for PvP by buying them from the rune trader. You still need to find them yourself to unlock, just that you can use them long before that already. It's not a bug.

Actually if you read what the Patch does, all runes are available through the trader and are already identified, but you can only use runes you find and unlock/identify yourself for your PvP only characters.

Now I understand, thanks for explaining that matey. Sald some people have already taken it upon themselves to buy up ALL vigor runes and try and rip people off..
Best thing to do is NOT buy them off these people and wait for new runes to become avaiable. These people will have wasted their money..

Not really. I unlocked a minor water rune and when I tried to buy one, it didn't let me. It's just that somebody bought it before you did.

I've never unlocked a Major rune of absorbtion and was still able to buy one. When it says they're out of stock, that's exactly what it is, they're literally out of stock. I've unlocked the minor fire magic and it was out of stock when I tried to purchase one.

yea the rune trader will work very much like the dye traders... People will start selling traders the runes, as the buy back prices goes up... just like it did with the dyes, and materials. 1st day had some rock bottom prices cause it was just implamented... also had sky rocket prices cause of demand too. as it settles down it will stablize...

I wanted to express this clearer cause one of the developers asked me directly what I meant and I didn't state it the way I should have...
Example of problem:
A PvP character is created... using unlocked runes and skills... as normal.
Then their PvE character goes and buys runes that are not unlocked yet.
Puts those runes in storage and logs out.
The PvP character goes to storage At Tomb of primevil Kings and gets the runes that have not been unlocked that the other character purchased.
Equips those runes... Now they have runes on a PvP that are not unlocked.
This is how the All the PvPers out there SUDDENLY have superior vigor and ect... that have NOT been unlocked yet.
This shows how the entire unlock runes concept has been thrown out the window for PvP when the rune traders came online. (However I do wish to state it has significantly reduced the inflation sales and spamming to the chat window from PvE, so that was a huge plus!!!)
2 ways to fix this.
1: Rune traders will only allow runes that you have unlocked to be purchased... So you do NOT have to find replacements for those runes you have found once already, just buy them when you need them. This would make it similar to PvP build menu in that only unlocked runes could be purchased legitimately.
Or 2: Make it so PvP characters can not equip runes to armor manually, thus making PvP character builds ONLY able to use unlocked runes from build menu.
This will bring the PvP part of the game back to the original unlock to use concept.
Note: All Runes equipped that are not unlocked for PvP characters would have to be Purged from character builds...

If they paid for the runes, I don't see why they shouldn't be able to use them in PvP. PvP armour can't be salvaged, so the runes would be lost - money disappears from the economy, especially if they're buying (currently) 100k superior vigor runes.

well that was back in early release. the designers mentioned that originally during both beta and prerelease. However because of the popularity of the rune traders as is, they seem to be leaving the status quo ... and again. the point was made that if you Buy one and put it on, you have 0 chance of getting it back to use again. so unlocking is still a prefered way to make PvP characters...
