Thumbs up More diverse classnames

I've played a few games of this "type" in the past, but I am by no means an expert (far from it!)... but I always liked how you were given special names determined by your level or skill sets. Not positive, but didn't Dungeon Seige and DII have something like this?

Anyway, I will use my character as an example: I'm a level 16 Me/E. Majority of pts on Me side are in Domination magic, and the majority of my pts on the E side are in Fire. So based off that couldn't I be classified as something more special like a Dominating Flamer or Flaming Dominator? I think it'd be cool and create more diversity than having a million W/Mo's running around...

Thoughts?

Good idea, though no need for the names to be 'cool', such as 'dominating flamer' or vice versa. In this case (Me/E), youre character would be domination/fire, and I think this would work for every other subclass, because of the distinctive names. So no missunderstandings would happen. This system would be especially useful, let's say, if you're a smiting monk, but people would still assume you could heal(as it now is).

P.S. Flamer... not a nice thing

agreed, they don't have to be cool (that was just an extreme example), just more informative so you know what type of people u are playing with

But, there could be flaws in this naming system as well... many people will think, for example, that a smiting monk is no use for the team. Healer is the way to go. So here we have discrimination between the subclasses. Although, every implementation of the game system, all the new things have their downsides as well. Some might like them, some might not. This has been acknowledged by the devs, I know. But I think these new names would be a turn for the better more than for the worse.

it's not really discrimination about the monk being a a smiter, but most of the teams wants a healer in the team. Monks are very important in every missions and quests, and they are the only one who can aid allies in healing, that is the reason why most players wants to have a monk healer than a smiter.

To avoid any discrimination maybe have an option to hide your specialization? But I don't think the discrimination would be severe enough to warrant that. Maybe it's just me though, as I am not really bothered by what me teammates specialties are as long as they try they're best.

lol, Flaming Dominator. Does your Mesmer carry a wand too?

Anyways I don't have a stance on this really. People are doing fine assigning their own description to their class.

I'm an anti-caster Mesmer. That should be descriptive enough without being called a "Dominating but yet Inspiring with a hint of illusion and One Fast Caster" Mesmer.
