wouldn't it be nice if we couldn't see...
wouldn't it be nice if we couldn't see the skill our target is using? removing this, i believe, would open doors to new strategies.
i mean really, for rangers, what's the point of laying traps beforehand if your enemy who has targetted you has already seen you prepare the traps from the edge of the radar away even if they haven't really seen you? the same goes with preparatory enchantments and rituals. also this way, people wont be able to copy builds as easily. at the least, the devs should remove this during pvp
so here's what i think the devs could do.. make it a mesmer primary innate skill. since mesmers are mainly used for interruption, they are the one's who should naturally be able to see the skills their target is using. and instead of being able to see the actual skills used, other classes should only be able to see a "spell casting countdown instead".
for example, a ranger targetting a necro using 'resurrection signet' would only see the 3 second bar(without the number) filling up for the signet to finish instead of seeing the name of the skill that the necro is actually using. that way, the ranger will have to make a decision to use his 'distracting shot' or not, if it's the skill he/she actually wants to stop.
additionally elementalists and monks and maybe even necros could be given new spells that give them the ability to see or make surrounding allies see the used-skills as well. as a bonus to the spell, maybe the enemy health, mana and enchantments/hexes would also be shown.

I guess you have yet to prove such a change would be nice. I can't really think of any reasons why it would be.

Warriors have Hammer and Axe skills for interruption
Eles have some knock down skills in air magic, maybe earth too?
Rangers have interruption shots
Mesmer have interruption skills
For Monks and Necros I don't know any interruption skill, but maybe I just missed them.
So, all these skills are now useless or I would need one more skill to use them? And for what? To make it more difficult to copy a build? Then we should get rid of the different animations also, because good players will recongnise skills by their animation.
Mhm... bad idea.

Ridiculous. It's the ability to see what skill someone is using that facilitates the strategy - someone is casting a hex? quickly pull up hex breaker... for an example other than an interrupt.
As the others said there are also big obvious animations and effects for casting and actions. without all this feedback it becomes akin to shooting in the dark.

you obviously didn't understand my post clear enough. isn't hex breaker a mesmer skill? that's why i said mesmers should be given the innate ability to see the skills. because it's the class who mainly use interrupts.

not every skill has the same animation. even if it does have the same animation, the spell casting times are different, so it's impossible to tell which skills are used 100% of the time looking at the animation alone. of course more experienced players know the more commonly used skills so they have a better chance of guessing their target's next move/skill.
