Independance day gold sink.
How about making little items that you double click to set off as a firework... meh... perhaps it's too close to get this idea in... but oh well, i would waste my gold to buy some fireworks and shoot them off, as long as it's reasonably before & after 4th of july, as around then, ill be off guild wars for a few days... unbelievable if you ask me.

While this does sound fun....I have to remind you that not everyone who plays the game is from US of A.
I'd rather have them celebrate game-related significant events like Guild War's birthday or new releases or someone at ANet getting married etc. (oh, they did have a wedding ceremony back in the alpha/beta days in case you don't know)
Also it'd be fun to see some Gwen rampage or exploding gnomes again.

Not everyone on the American World are Americans.
I'm there and I'm Australian.
People are in the American World because they're not European or Korean.

why should people be downers on a holiday just because it's not their countries, nobody said they weren't going to do yours too. America celebrates Sinco de Maio; does Sinco de Maio sound American to you? Besides its still a celibration with special items and cool crap to have fun with for every body.

I'd like fireworks, but perhaps instead of "Fourth of July!", it could be some sort of Guild Wars related 'holiday'/event. And I think fireworks should be another gold sink available anytime lol, but given out for free during special events. And confetti.

Yep, I for one wouldn't care for the Indepencedance day
They should have holidays like Holloween, x-mas, easter and common ones which are found in other places OTHER then just the USA.

I agree, no country specifi ones. Just, world generic ones and maybe game specific ones like GW anniversary, maybe Dev specific birthdays or anniversaries. That sort of stuff.

Here we go with people taking stuff way to serious. If you don't like the idea of independence day then just think of it as blow some stuff up day.
Actually some of the other countries could think of it as thanks for saving our butts in WWI and WWII day.

Excuse me... I find that last comment a bit out of place.
Funny how most Americans believe they alone are the reason WW2 ended and Britain was not invaded, because you find that's not 100% true at all, so stop making that claim.
If you got involved with the war at the start of it thousands of lives would most likely have been spared... but then again you guys didn't care about Europe in the beginning.
Now back on topic... its better to have generic holidays since most people can join in and feel nutral about them... having ones like Independence day would mean we have to have ones for the all kinds of things... which would simply get a bit overkill.

Just saying there are to reason WWII ended one was fat and one was little but that is not my point.
The point is is that this a game and should not be taken as a anything else.
In this game we are a world community and should celebrate each other.
Oh and by the way learn to take a joke

Lighten up man people get way to touchy over stuff that has no bearing on their live.
If they had a gold sink for the 4th of july and you dont't want to celebrate the day we broke free from tyrany then don't take part in the celebration.
As far as i am concernred throw all the holidays you can at me and i am there cinco de mayo, s. patricks day bring em on
