a Profession Hall
For the fee of 5 plat, you may buy a non-expiring pass to the hall of your primary profession. Here you get to mingle with others in your profession to discuss tactics, just hang out, trade profession specific items, complain about the other professions etc. This would be similar to a guild hall except that it would not be for a single team, but for a single profession. Have like an island with a large building, the building is the hall, the island could have non-aggro mobs on it, which would be class dependent (undead for necro, bears for ranger, etc.)
For the fee of 2 plat, you may have a non-expiring (except when secondary is changed) pass to the lobby (first room and outside terrain) of your secondary profession.
Both passes are non-transferrable to other characters, ie. customized.

I actually like this idea, I just don't ever see it going in. I can see the lobby of the monk hall clogged with w/mo's demanding we join them on whatever ill-concieved excursion they had planned for the day.

Great idea but maybe add this. You can be booted from your secondary professions hall can if say 75% of the primary profession people there at the time decide to kick you and you cant return for 'x' number of hours or until you gain 'x' number of experiance.
This would help with the W/Mo issue.

well, secondary would have to have extremely limited access... especially since if you do the secondary quests, by that point payin out the other 10 plat so you can get all memberships after having gotten all secondaries, would be chump change.

Tippy, what is with the need to kick people from places all the time (like you were discussing in another thread). If you have issues with people I'd suggest taking it up with them personally or just ignoring them.
Oh, and I think this is a great idea for the primary profession only.

Just a suggestion. But I like the secondary profession hall idea because when I heal with my E/Mo I would like to ask other people who do this what they find effective and so on but I understand the need for the Monk hall to not become the LFM, NEED 1 MONK location for all the missions. The kicking wouldn't be permenant and once the W/Mo is booted he either a) won't come back or b) will have learned his lesson and stop going LFG etc.
BTW any other way that anyone can come up with to stop the idiots from using the monk hall as a recruting area I would gladly support.

The solution would be to have the profession halls be specific to the primary profession. If you wanted something relevant to your secondary profession, I guess they could do sub-halls for people with the same primary/secondary class (these are the people you would really want to talk to about your secondary class).

An even better idea would be to allow access only from a certain point in the game - not from the beginning (after the searing), where they'd be pointless

Maybe they should be available only after you have beaten the game with at least one character. For each character to enter they must be at Lion's Arch. That may make the atmosphere a little better

For secondary limitations, we could have like a lobby.
For delayed access (certain point in the game) maybe you have to leave from Lion's Arch as Manadar said, and also I'm sure the 5 plat pass fee would keep anyone shy of having reached Crystal Desert (at least with another character) from joining. So this means the character would have to have either earned or received 5 plat AND reached Lion's Arch.

My 2 cents-
I like this idea. It reminds me of the Class specific channels back in D2:LoD, except those channels were used way too much for trade and not enough for build discussion. I like this, however, it would be best if each hall had unlimited access based on account and not by certain items. Each class hall would have one or a series of difficult quests that can be completed only by a primary or secondary of that class, and at the end, there is a fee attached to the end, adding the status to your account, say 2-4K. This way, even if you are not on a character that belongs to that class hall, you may still be able to associate with them and discuss builds and strategies and how they pertain to other builds and classes. If the ignore feature would work properly as it did in D2, then kicking people out of the class hall wouldn't be a problem.
I like this idea very much, however, expect tons of class specfic trade spam in these halls if they are implemented.

I agree Spartan, when I say "buy a pass" I don't mean one that you keep in storage (although it might be neat to have one) but rather that your character (not your account) is now allowed to go there. I wouldn't like it otherwise because soon everyone would have every class hall... I would like it to be exclusive where i know that anyone who has never played a mesmer would never have gone to the Mesmer Amphitheatre (of course, they would each need different names)

Really nice idea. I like it. And perhaps one hall could fight another hall (say warriors v. elementalists). The winners get paid.

Excellent idea. I like secondary limited access in some way as well. It's sometimes hard to get information on your secondary profession.

I don't really like this idea, I mean you can trade class-specific items anywhere, you can talk strategy in the forums, and you can also complain in the forums, so it seems like this would be a waste. And it is kind of expensive.
