Disperse Monks in Competition Arena
I tried checking out a mes/mo this morning with the idea of checking out how it is in PvP. Well, I joined about 10 different groups, only once was I paired with an actual monk. So I got kind of fed up, and I reversed the setup to a monk/mes to be a healer.
The first group I joined had another monk. I just figured it was luck. So, I left that group after we had won, so they could get another player before their next match, went back into town, and entered the arena again. I got paired up with a monk on my team again. Won that fight, went back to town, joined again. AGAIN I got another monk in my team. Went 1/10 with a mesmer to get a monk in the group, then went 4/4 with my monk.
Now, granted, it could have been some random luck that got me these results, but it could be something else. If feedback states that things are whacked, I think Anet needs to tweak the code so that, at least, if monks are short in making groups, they are placed on teams without another monk. 2 monks on a 4 man pvp team can lead to some seriously boring battles. Anyways, if you have experienced anything like this, please post it. If not, please post it. Let's get an idea of what is really going on with the random competative arena off of the coast of Lion's Arch. Thanks.

While I don't think a monk make or breaks a team in PvP. I do agree is seems odd when one team may have 2 monks and yet the team your in has no monks at all.
The game should balance the team matching better.

I joined a group in arena as a mesmer taht won a couple (20 they claimed) games. their mesmer left, so all fell in place again as i could substitute their left mesmer. then a war on the team left, and we got a war again.
but most of the time, it seems to be pure luck. i find it irritating that it is basicly russian roulette if ones skills even remotely fit the team.

Look at my example. Does that seem random to you? I was just seeing if anyone else had seen this kind of disparity. If not, then cool, I am a whacko.

14 Teams. 3 other players per team = 42 players. 42/6 character classes = 7 monks is what you'd expect if there was a perfect balance. You encountered 5. Since there are more warriors and rangers in the game than monks, that would make sense.
You are not the victim of an Anet conspiracy, you just aren't perceiving how probability and statistics work.

I actually like how random it is, and how some teams get stuck with 2 monks. During one match I was on an all ranger team(awesome) and we were up against 2 monks, warrior and an elementalist. We easily destroyed them because we just split up against the monks, dropped them. Then took out the ele, who ended up rezing one of the monk which we killed next. Then destroyed the warrior as he pointless ran around.
Sometimes no monks doesn't mean losing, I've had plenty of good runs without any healers.

Sardelac is a suggestion forum.
I understand the problem. What is your suggestion?

I agree that a weighting system of monks would be nice. (Which I think may have been the suggestion? That somehow monks get assigned more evenly?)
Then again, it could lead to boredom as the monks are spread out across teams and they all start to look similar.

If people want a monk, why don't they go play in the Team Arenas. The Competition Arena's are for seeing how well you can compete in any team, not necesarily a team with a monk. You have to be ready to deal with any group, whether it be 4 monks or 0.
