Is that all that much worse than it is now?
Sure sounds like everyone is bitching and wanting change...

No, I go from thread to thread posting arguments supporting why the original poster should NOT get their way. I'll probably be called a troll and make a lot of enemies, but at least it'll show people how stupid some of their suggestions are.
Some are actually pretty good, though. And some have really well founded arguments to support them. Just not "omfg i cant find any sup runez! wtfbbq im going to gwguru and making them change so i can be rich and l33t"

Are you saying the merchant will ruin the economy? More likely than not if it works like with dye, the sups will still be very high to buy. Those not wanting to bother with the grind or trade spam will pay a Premium fee to buy the runes. Others will still sell at the going rate (what was it, like 20% below merchant price?)... so superiors will stil help someone "get rich quick"
I think this is a good idea. People who want, can pay high prices for superiors, medium for majors, and hopefully low for minors. I'd love to pick up some minors for relatively cheap so I can throw them in all the armors that I get Right now I have about 20 minors, but none of them apply to my characters. I would gladly sell them to the merchant but the 25g i get from this merchant isn't worth it.

I sell minors for 200g a pop, and sometimes I throw in a deal like if you buy more than 3 I make them all 150g a pop. Minors are not hard to sell at all.

True, but who in there right mind would pay 100K gold for a superior of valor... thats overkill!

how I think it should work is that you can buy minor runes directly from the trader, but for the majors and superiours you have to gamble by to get them. how the gambling would work is that you put in an amount of money that you want to bid, and that money will determine the rarity of the rune, so if you were to bid 100K you have a higher chance of getting a superiour rune of vigor/absorption, but if you only bid 50K it might only be a minor, so people could still get rich quick by selling runes directly, but those that don't have tons of money can take there chances with the trader.

To the nay-sayers, I say "why not?" I see no reason this wouldnt be helpful, I see no reason this would hurt anyone in the game.

Rune trade might be a good idea if the min price for minors is above 25 gold XD
Right now I just toss all my minors to the NPC because its too much of a hassle to find people to sell it to.

If the Rune Trader kept in step with demand and supply, such as with the Sigil Trader, and purchasing runes from the rune trader unlocked said rune, then I /sign.

It's nice to have an easy outlet to sell your low runes to, but if I find a superior vigor, I want the freakin INFLATED, OVERPRICED market value for that sucker! I don't want to only receive 20-25k for a superior vigor just because some stupid NPC sells them for that much!
Not only that, but people who are already rich will have easy access to even more high quality runes.
If this is implemented at all, I say that the NPC is to be used ONLY as an outlet to sell unwanted runes quickly, and a place to buy minors and maybe majors. No dealings with superiors should be involved. Any more than that and your Rune Trader NPC is going to ruin the economy. Don't ask how or say it won't, it will and you know it.

So long as the initial prices are set at or even above the market value, it will all work out.
Did Black Dyes ruin the economy because they were only 1K for the first week or 2? nope. Granted, people have more use for 10 Black Dyes than 10 Superior Runes of Vigor, but so long as the prices aren't below current market value, this won't even be an issue.
Start the Superiors at about 100K, Majors at what 10K? and Minors at 1K. The prices are high enough, people will sell their runes to it. Then the prices will drop and it will eventually balance out.
Though I still think an Auction House is a much better idea.

I said it once and I'll say it again 100K is far too high a price for anything in this game

Agreed! and yet there people who seem to think its fine to demand that amount for runes... which is madness...!
Only power players could afford that amount, while relax players like myself must spend weeks on end farming and trading just to afford that amount.

Why dont you guys just play more and try to find your own runes? If you have a half decent character it shouldn't be hard. And if you're really not gettin the luck buy one from someone else. Putting a rune trader in the game would destroy the game. Would allow everyone to have instant access to some of the hardest items to get in the game.

Because:
1. I have a full time 40 hour a week job.
2. I need to cook dinner when I get home
3. This leaves me with 2-3 hours playing time a day... less if I'm doing other things.
Special Note: My character is pretty good as she is... however I don't have the time to farm for gold and items 5+ hours a day some people do.
As stated on the GW website:
"Success in Guild Wars is always the result of player skill, not time spent playing or the size of one's guild"
Funny thing that... seems only people who can afford 50K-100K (Bloody hell!) runes are people who spemd the most time playing.
So don't tell me I need to play more.... I would if I could... but a little thing called life keeps me busy

-_- I like this idea but I don't like it because I've been sinking gold into superior runes expecting them to completly take over as currency. I better get to selling. In the end however, gold will never be the currency.
Last night i earned 75k in a little over 2 hours. This was with another person who also earned 75k. 150k in 2 hours? In a day you could max out your gold if you just played non stop.
The only way they could keep gold as a currency is to give unlimited storage for it which would only lead to a worse economy.
