Petition: Rune Trader
Since the price of runes have spiralled out of control, I propose Anet should introduce a Rune Trader to regulate rune prices in a similar manner to the Dye/Material/Sigil trader. The supply will also have to be improved if casual players are ever to stand a chance of owning superior runes, and to encourage players to sell to these new Rune Traders.
I've turned this into a petition now. Please /sign your posts to show your approval .

This seems like something that could be implimented a lot easier than an auction house (and it's something they've done in the past, ie. the dye trader). The economy is moving more to a rune based one rather than a gold based one, and we'll have the same situation as in D2 where those who dont have superior vigor runes (or SoJs in D2) will be excluded from trading, unless this trend is stopped. A trader would also help people flog off all their minor runes they've been bogged down with. Having economies based on such rare items also encourage people even more to find duping methods and other such exploits.
Another nice idea would be to have unidentified runes as a gold sink, since atm the only such device that exists are the 15k armour pieces. One thing this game misses sorely is a 'gambling' feature, and I think paying a flat (or increasing) amount for 1 randomly picked rune will help PvPers with too much cash to spend and nothing to spend it on.

Instead of making more traders, they should really just add an auction system. Seriously, the lack of this system is the main reason this game's economy is so unreliable and unfair and should have been included with the game's release.

I'd prefer a rune trader to an auction system. It's insanely hard to sell minors directly, it would be next to impossible to sell them with everyone else's items in the mix. The trader may give maybe 80-100g for each minor, or more depending on popularity(vigor, swordsmanship, fire). Majors would be fine, they are rare enough to be able to sell in an auction house, but the trader would be an instant thing. Maybe both?

yes a rune trader sounds good, prices go up if lots of people buy certain ruins, while others dont.. and if more people sell runes, eg: minor ones prices arnt super expensive unless there getting brought alot.
And adding in unquie super rare runes, would be nice.. which can be brought, for lots of gold and can be sold for 1/4th of the actual price to the rune trader. but to get 1 is soming like a 2% chance.. etremely hard to find. cos i hate it everytime you goto a town people are selling of runes like they have gotten them off the back of a truck, majors and superiors are more common then minors. ive had like 6 minors in the whole game, and about 12 majors, and 26 superiors. work that out?

Though, there should always be a minimum amount on minors if buying from the trader (min the trader will pay would be 200 for a minor. min they could ever sell for would be 200).
Though of course, prices would go up from the trader on the more sought after runes (fire, vigor, etc).

rune trader is a great idea
granted the mechanics of how it operates, should be quite different than a regular dye/material trader...

I like the idea of a rune trader.
However, they really should think about an auction system -- not right away, since it would take a lot of time and effort to turn the idea into the real thing. Because sure, having a rune trader would solve the issue temporarily.. but then, next think you know, people will demand an NPC for everything, such as one to sell weapon mods (hilts, wrappings, etc.).

I would like to see a Rune trader... the rune prices are insane at the moment...
Some dude was selling a Superior rune of Valor for an insane 100K! When I asked him how the hell anyone could afford them, he claimed some people will.
I'm not a power player and saving up 100K would take weeks!
So how is this fair on people like me? This game meant to reward players of all kind, but people within the game (Most likely Diablo 2 players) are trying to control the things

Good idea, but it wont stop people spamming to sell stuff, like an auction house would. At least it'd keep the prices at a decent level.

Why don't people get this : They can only sell things at what people are willing to pay. If they don't lower prices then it means people are buying them, or they don't care to sell them.

Implement both the trader and the sale of un-ided runes as a gold sink.

I think the idea of a rune trader is pretty good, but I think that an Auction House is more valuable. If they made a rune trader it would help with getting runes you wanted easier than reading endless lines of spam. As you can see a dye trader was implemented and I still see spams to sell and buy dye. The main idea of getting some type of trading/AH system is to reduce spam and make it easier for anyone to purchase certain items. At an AH you could search for all items not just 1 like at the dye trader or a rune trader. If we have traders all over we have to run to each one or change areas to get to them. This would just be more of a hassle, and for those who complain about having to work a little in a game, well would just be something else to complain about. At least with an AH you can buy/sell craft materials, runes, weapons, dyes, miscellaneous items people want to have to give to collectors. So unless they created multiple traders for each thing in the main towns or all towns, then a rune trader still won't solve all the problems with trading/spam that people want solved. Good thinking the idea is nice, let's hope Anet does something soon.

/sign because I love the idea of an un-identified rune gamble, this would help people with cash unlock runes for PvP, and you can trade gold for a chance at having to stop farming.

They should just introduce a gambler trader like they had in D2. He can have unid everything, weapons and runes, shields and focus. If you are lucky you may get a purple or gold item or a nice rune of some sort. Set the price per item and vary the odds and you have an effective money sink plus opportunity to acquire items unlock runes and unlock upgrades.
