Guild Hall Spoils of Victory
I havent gotten to GvG yet... my guild is new, and we dont have much money ( i alone seem to getting the bucks to pay ... sigh)
Anyway .. ive seen it suggested to get more funiture and other things for guild halls...
Like i said, im not too sure how GvG works...but i think they should give players the option to risk it all...
Like WoW did...put a PvP Flag up for certain Guilds that are willing to participate. When your flagged youll be able to be attacked by other guilds...
A Guild who is attacking can send you a letter . It will be something like this..
"We will be attacking you in 3 days from 3-6, be ready!"
So in 3 days from 3-6 the Attacking Guild will be able to go into the Defending Guilds Keep...A limit would be set depending on GW's preferences...
maybe if people wanted it to... it could be 8v8 only...or if each guild had 50 members...a 50v50...but the number would be limited by the defending Guilds members.
Guild Halls would become a Zone .. with a long path to get to the Guild...
Guilds would be able to "buy traps" that they could set up along the path..
"buy henchmen" that would help defend(another limited number)
"buy defenses"
Anyway ... If successful attacks would yeild spoils
****Spoils****
Guilds would be allowed to build cool things in their guild...Like Paintings couches chairs tables, fountains, chandeliers
If a successful attack goes through, the Winning Guild would steal certain items...Theyd also take home some money...doesnt ahve to be the defeniding guilds...but that would be more fun.
If the defending guild wins.. well i dont know...they get a chalk mark on the wall for defending guilds.
thats the general jist...

It's a neat idea, but it kind of sounds like the rich will be able to more or less dominate by buying way too many traps and offing the entire invading party in one hit.

50 VS 50!!!!!!!! I start getting a low connection with 3 teams (24 people) fighting in HoH.Way to much. 10 on each team would work much better.

Imbalanced, guilds would just go around and buy lots of traps and other defenses. They would spend lots of time farming just to get more traps for defense.
Other than that I think it's a good idea

yeah i thought of that too, but thats why i said it would be limited... it would just be fun to put some traps and watch the attacking guild hit them and keep charging your guild...heres a map of a fun way to set up guild hall zones..

course it wouldnt be so straight forward, but hopefully you get the idea,
this would be fun... youd get to watch the defending team struggle through the course, YOU set up...Anet could make this something strategic in itself...Perhaps give you a budget to spend on supplies...give you a Guild Roster of the other team (incorporate a "Spies" or "treason" button that cost 500 g or something that everyone could afford...

The 'Spoils of Victory' brought on a very cool reflection. When doing GvG or Tombs or Arena, when someone dies/loses, one or two random items from their possessions should 'drop'. I mean, when someone dies, their sword or wand should be there for the taking. This would put some skin-in-the-game.

what if defeating a team earned you one of their capes that you could hang on your guild hall wall? Like trophies.

You shouldn't make suggestions about Guild Battles until you've actually tried one. They don't last three hours, they last about 20 minutes. The setup of the Halls is intended for them to be self-contained, so unless they changed the boat docks to isthmuses, it wouldn't work. There is also no real reason, at least that you provided, for a Guild to take the option of defending.

Umm, 20 minutes for a guild battle?I don't think so, in the beta when ALL the guilds had guild halls, I had a battle with another guild and it lasted 1 hour and 30 min.We finally lost in the end but it doesn't take 20 minutes for a guild battle to end unless your using henchmen.

What if they had already customized their weapon?
Would it become uncustomized or would their be a NPC that uncustomizes it for 200 gold?

This would also ruin pvp.
But maybe instead of using gold to buy traps or defence you have to use guild money wich you earn from winning gvg or something.

As somone stated before, maybe I shouldn't be posting since I haven't GvGed yet... but just a thought here... What if the "defences" cost a % of what the guild has... that way the rich couldn't just buy a bunch of traps and such, while the poor sit and farm forever just to buy one more trap... If they set up a % system then the rich would appear to be paying more then the poor, but actually it would be even... (ie. 0.5% of guild's funds to buy a flame trap, 0.2% for a hench...ect)

Problem with that is that a guild will just make a smurf guild with an account that has nothing, and just GvG through that, or even all switch over, so the original guild has nothing, and then buy stuff there.

well... like i said about the traps...
they wouldnt cost alot of money...just enough to sink some gold...
and of course.. the traps would be limited in nature...it would just add some sort of "planning" and prepartion strategy, which could be fun...thats it for the traps.
Earning a Guild Only Budget would work too..i like that idea. But that wouldnt solve the problem of larger guild dominating smaller guilds...There would still need to be a limit of traps.
Id find this type of PvP to be ALOT of fun
(i remember reading Lineage 2s PvP is sort of like this)
anyway .. any other suggestions to add onto it? or to make it better?
i like the cape idea

The traps idea sucks. However I do like the ideas of item drops, capes for trophies, and the announcement that there will be an attack at x date x time. That would make it easier to challenge who YOU wanted to on a ranked level. That would give the opportunity to settle disputes and have it count for something.
Also I think it would be a good idea to have a non ranked random match. There are several guilds out there that want to try their new build in their new hall and see how it works without 5 other teams in the tombs maps. Overall, these are pretty good ideas, but the traps are lame.

i just liked the idea of an invading guild...
i think its boring just all bring out on the field/ or whatever area your fighting...
especially in the case of attacking another guild...I thought, that the attackers would have to fight their way to the defending guild. Then i figured...instead of just waiting while the attackers fought their way up...the defending guild could use traps or something of the sort, and get to watch from the sidelines the attacking guild suffer through them... itd be fun
traps could be anything from a group of henchmen to firetraps, slow traps, devours in the ground... things like that.

But there are several people that like the idea of a level playing field. To put the attackers at a major disadvantage takes away from that. How fun would it be to attack a beat up guild having to fight for 10 minutes to even get to you while you just wait and watch.... boring.
Your other ideas have merit, and this is just my opinion, but i'm not in favor of having an obstacle course to get to someone who wants to fight.

Good idea, but its not goign to happen without some kind of a expansion. No normal update could contain all of that. Also, that would require quite the programming. Also, i agree with Luna as far as how unfair that would be if your guild already had a lot of money. There should defiantely be no way to buy henches or traps.. that doesnt even make sense really. ^_^

What about an option where each player/guild pays before they can fight, like an Antee in poker. The winning person/team automatically has the gold split evenly amongst themselves. Don't make an antee required though, as some might just want to have fun in PvP.
