guild wars too simple?
A while ago ,somebody made a thread that was very poorly worded, loaded with grammar and spelling errors making it hard to read, aggressive and basically pretty retarded... it got locked. However, beneath all the forum-noobishness there were some pretty good points that are worth being pointed out, some of which have already been pointed out, but most of which haven't already been beaten to death.
1-old creatures with new skins: Each new territory brings with it some new creatures, but it's weird to see the same creatures over and over. I know that it's realistic to have variations on the same creatures, but these aren't really variations, they're just recolors and rescales (speaking of, what ever happened to riverskales, they the only ones who didn't survive the searing?)
2-no real variety in armor: I can't really comment well on this, since I can guess it would be kind of tough... but I'd like to see more customize options than just dyes
3-rare items complaint? I don't know enough about rares and upgrades to comment >.<
4-music: ... okay... I love this game, I do. I criticize in hopes of polishing not in the spirit of complaining. The music in this game is 90% horrible, the voice acting maybe 75% horrible... I'm not sure who directed the voice acting and/or the music for this game, but for the expansion they should be given a different task. I love this game, but the music is repetitive, unconnected to the place where I am and way way way too reminiscent of Lord of the Rings.
5-guild halls: This one's been beaten to death and we've been told it'll be rectified, no need to add to it here.
6-PvE replay lacking: this one has been beaten quite plentifully too, we need unconnected towns and outposts with their own separate quests and stuff...
7-over expensive armor that only looks good: perhaps there should be a slight difference in armor level for the fissure 75K armor and the Droknar's 7.5K armor... I sacrifice cash for aesthetic, but 75 plat?
that's it... These are things (5 excepted) that have been touched on little and that I felt worth repeating. Myself personally, I feel a tad frustrated with #4... Music and sounds are just as important in a game/movie as the graphics are.

I don't find the monsters repetitive
rofl at the music comment... it's fine
outposts do have quests
if they changed armor = overpowered

okay... opinion is opinion... when I mentioned the outposts thing though, I think it would be nice to have more outposts, unconnected to storyline. I know there are quite a few already, just a thought.
Music... you can't be serious? I don't want to start an arguement about the game since you're defending a game I like to play, but you don't need to defend. This thread is not meant to complain about the game but to suggest areas that need some attention. The voice acting and music for this game are far below mediocre, the game itself is far above mediocre... Surely they could find a better composer for the game, and someone who can more effectively link up the music with the scenes.
As for the armor... I don't know. I mean, if Droknar's +60 armor (ele=+60) wasn't there it would be considered overpowered when someone suggests it. +65 FOW armor isn't such a huge difference but at least it offers something other than a 75 plat appearance alteration.

Thanks DrSLUGFly for re-addressing that topic in the appropriate forum and in an appropriate manner, I was the one who deleted the idiotic version.
As for the topic at hand...
When it comes to the re-use of creatures, I'm not really too bothered, after playing Star Wars Galaxies I am used to a lot worse. What bothers me is how there are so many identical looking creatures in one place, I get bored fighting through devourers all the time and an interlude of something else would be a nice change once in a while.
As for armour, I'm one of those people that other players choose to insult by saying "go play The Sims". One reason I play RPGs in the first place is because usually you can make a very individual character, one that is very personal to you, and you can usually customise its appearance quite a lot. I'd definitely be a "yes" for more types of armour in this game.
Rare items are a non-issue for me, I can't afford them and I probably wouldn't use many if I could. I like how rare items in this game are not always as "GODLY" as people insist, in fact many are only slightly better than common items, this leaves a lot to the skill of the player in combat.
Voice acting ans music? Again, I've played Star Wars Galaxies, so I didn't even notice there was a problem in Guild Wars. Anyone who's played that game will tell you what I mean, there are exactly zero voices and about four pieces of randomly looping music. Not to mention annoying battle music. By comparison, I'd say the voices and music in Guild Wars are a god-send.
When it comes to guild halls, I'm not fussed, but there are issues that bother many players I guess.
PvE? I've never ascended in this game, I spend a lot more time in arenas than PvE, but I've not really got any issues with PvE. More quests would be nice though.
I also agree that armour costing an arm and a leg should work better than cheap armour, but again it's back to what I said about rare weapons and the skills of the player.

About the music: Personally I think it sounds great, but to me, a lot of the time it sounds like it's not playing. I've got to have some sort of background music when I play, so due to that fact, I often turn off the in-game music for my winamp playlist.

as a contrast to what I already said, the Ring of Fire music (dont remember the mission) is super cool. It's really slow, and it drags and warbles... fitting for the Ring of Fire.

while the arm+leg armour having something extra would be nice it really would imbalance the game towards those who can spend the 10+hrs a day to actually get it. I've been playing pve for a fair while and dont even have close to enough for the 75k armour from granite citadel and the likes let alone the crazy FoW armour that needs strange and rare crafting materials.
As for the appearance of the sets from what i've read in the game updates that post-ascension (droknars) armour will have their own look (eventually) before that you're upgrading armour relatively often (or just holding out for droknars armour) that there's no real point to differentiating them that much.
as for the music.. i wouldn't know. i've had it turned off and foobar playing since day 1 mind you the voice acting is horrible. It's just.. ugh.
regarding items - I've yet to see a really good rare drop myself. I find those rare drops are better for salvaging a good component from then applying to a collector item. At least for casters what with 20/20 collector items being much much easier to get than to try to farm for one. For my main char i've yet to see a better dropped staff better than the upgraded collector staff i'm using.
I do agree about mobs though. they're pretty much the same ones with a reskin and resize with a few notable exceptions like the flesh golems.

The flesh golems scared the bajeeses out of me the first time I saw them. And on a related note, the Mahgo Hydras are a pretty good reskin.

Repetitive monster, I'm fine with them. About river skales, I supppose there are no more rivers in Ascalon after the Searing.
i should also adresse the lack of replay value for PvE, well I suppose if this was not a free game, the developpers would gladly add new quests and mission all the time. I have to admit though that the maps are very repetitive. The first play through is fun because there's a lot of space to explore. The second one is already boring enough. Actually for my second character I skipped many places, especially missions.
If the music is bad, and I think it is, jsut play your own music, that's what I do.
I have never been part of the "elite group" in any MMO games, so I'm glad that the 1.5k and the 15k armour have the same stats. Actually the only other MMORPG I played was Diablo 2, and there, I'm so discouraged, I can never be powerful, because I don't have time to farm and find the best items.

you've got that thing in your avatar and the flesh golems scared you?
oh and the river scales you see later as bog scales near kryta and ancient scales in FoW - cant remember if they were anywhere else.

I used to think people who claimed the game monsters were repetitive were crazy. Until I got to the desert, and saw level 20 devourers and level 20 storm riders. That threw me for a loop. Now, with the exception of the titans, all the monsters I've seen since the desert have been a re-do of an older monster seen elswhere in the game. 'course, that was a while back, so I've gone back to accepting this fact. They are still hard to kill, and the forgotten, and mursatt, and jades are all different enough to make me forget about the lack of really new monsters.
And for those of us paying attention, titans are in ascalon. Char Effigies look like 'em

The Charr haven't been redone yet, but yes alittle more variety in areas would be nice, but this has been mentioned before, randomised spawns etc etc.
Rare items If they are rare, they should be good, not really elite, but good. Fact is I can get better gear from collectors, sort of makes the rare gear redundant and useless. Sure finding the superior runes etc to unlock, but if you don't actually have a PvP chr it is also redundant. Either make rare items less rare and just good drops or make rare items actual items better than what i can buy or gain from collectors. Making them drop more would be the easiest way, otherwise it would be a major update, looking at lots and lots of different areas.
The sound, music is not the best ever , neither is it the worst. The sound / music in NWN is far superior and had a much greater variety, each area had themed music etc. Most large RPG games do actually skimp on this like GW has done though. Voice overs are not that bad, have heard worst, and better. They only happen on cutscenes so I can live with it.
Guild halls, no comment, have 2 ascended chrs / finished game, use guild more as a rp / friends channel with a small group. So not seen or got a guild hall so far. Doesn't bother me personally.
PvE lacking. No need to comment on this, it has all been said already, in nice and bad ways. Yes it is and yes it does get repetative and lacks reward / difficulty ratio later in the game. (mainly southern shiverpeaks.)
The cosmetic armours, they give PvE players something to aim for, but have also post many times that I would love more armours, cross class related armours, ie, N/W, W/N only etc. PvE only related armours / upgrades, +30ac against dwarves.(this wouldn't effect PvP )
Thats it for now.

1-old creatures with new skins
Personally I don't see it as much of a problem, doesn't bother me at all.
2-no real variety in armor
I like the armor specs, but not the looks. I'd like more types of armor which were equally good but looked different from eachother - so that my poor warrior didn't have to wear that gladiator armor which looks so, well, gay. More options for customization IS something I'd like to see more of. Everquest 2 had very nice options for designing the look of ones avatar.
3-rare items complaint?
That's the MMORPG veterans talking. They _know_ that the point of a MMORPG is to level infinitely, and to infinitely find more uber loot. A MMORPG which does not do this must hence be broken.
Again, not a problem to me at all.
4-music:
That's a complaint? Turn the in-game music down and fire up Winamp. Problem solved.
6-PvE replay lacking:
What we need is more quests - and missions! - not tied to the storyline. I'm pretty sure the plan is to add more quests and missions with the expansions.
7-over expensive armor that only looks good
Perfect. I would NOT like this game to be any more uber-godly-items fixated than it already is!
As I said I'd simply like more types of armor.
I'll add my own pet peeve, though:
Make the game soloable also for non-healing avatars by fixing Alesias script so that she does not tank. As it is anyone who's not at least partly a monk or necro will run into a brick wall at the ascension missions.

And Fleshgolems are the same as Abnominals from Dragon's Gullet, behind the area with Altheas Ashes (Flame Temple Corridor), this area also has plain Hydras.
