Lot of the changes (and most are good) are system changes. I rember reading about how the developers feel that system changes such as henchies pick up gold, cost of runes as you sugest, if implemented would be free to all. Content such as new skills, missions, jobs, explore zones, etc would be expansion.

An expansion pack needs to have BIG additions, like horses, taverns, and boat traveling.

mission area crafting
(i mean that you buy ep2: Tools of the Trade. when you are in a mission based area (i think they are run by our PCs rather than their servers, right? so we *should* lag less in that area) and you have the ep2:TotT you can do some new things...1, mine for ores or gems or coal.2, smealt ores into metals, cut raw stones into gems, use a forge to make wepons, use a font to make the gems enchanted.use the enchanted gems to make the wepons magical.
allow this in both pre and post searing, but like is already done, lesse items in pre and better items in post.
like, you can get only copper and tin ores in pre, along with low grade gems. say, semi-precious like amythyst, quarts, tiger eye ect.
low grade enchantments on the stones, and low grade weapons.
to stop the economy going belly up, alow only certain merchants to buy the craftet items, at set prices.
same thing in post searing, but better ores, gems enchantments ect.
this will alow those that like to do repetious stuff or crafting to make items, but if you make sure that the items cant be made totaly silly uber, unless you maybe add flaws or something similar to them.
also, if you dont have this ep, you simply can see the shapes, but you cant use them. add the images for the forges, the fonts and other placed items into the updates, but not the part that lets you sue them, so that peeps who do and dont like to craft can still work together.
ok, i know its called *guild* wars, but there are loners out there that dont like to be part of a group. as yet, i do not totaly understand what a guild fort is for, what it gives you and what you can do/use it for, but how about homes? i know that they are realy popular in other games, so what about purcaseable homes? 20k for a shack (3 rooms) 40k for a cottage, (4 rooms, 2 levels) and 60k for a Large House (6 rooms, 2 floors or a basement)
if players have loads of cash by the end of the game (having gone thru the lot once i mean) then we need to encourage them to spend ^^ i have yet to progress thru most of the game, but if the rest is like pre and the starting areas of post, there is little to buy, so more stuff to temp us into dipping into our purses is needed.
beign able to own *or maybe, since you cant own land in ascalon lol, rent, with a ahem life-time garenteed heheh* a home, that is not part of the server side of the game, and being able to decorate it with stuff...imagine, a cosy little cottage, with a rug befor the fireplace made from Charr hide. you and your friends sit down for a chat and some pre-mission planning...theres a sword and a shield over the fireplace, trophies taken during a mission.
you dont have to stand and talk in the town, you dont have to be a guild member and you get a place thats quiet. if there is the crafting from the ep2, you can buy *for a larger fee lol* your own font, forge or anvil ect, so if you happen to be a crafter, you can work in the comfort of your own home
hm...horses....cant see it, cause i know we have up and down in the game, but you think it would be possible to make folks actually *ride*? we walk into eachother and merge all the time lol...'Hey, if i stand here, i look like a cnetaur! neat!' ^^
tavers..nice, but you need to have Bards, for light entertainment, and booze that makes you do daft things like fall over and sing off key ^^
did you mean instant travel by boat or long distance with a ship and your on deack type travel by boat?
long distance is good, we can kil mer-folk, and huge Sea Skale ^^ then...but its makeing them jump onto the ship that will be the bummer hehe.
hm...small thing, but what about double-dye....i mean, look at the elementalist stuff for the ladies. when you dye it, you just dye the edges and the trim...how about when you dye, you get asked, 'dye part1 or part2?' then, you can realy make it colorfull. also, will use twice as much dyes up ^^ (more cash out of the players purses and back into the game hehe)
what about RP type quests? silly little things that dont actually give much xp but give nice rp type items (fur hat for traveling in the icy places....membership into the 'Grinning Adventurers tavern' lol ect) stuff that the guys that arent into RP will never bother about, but us RP fans will like.
oooh, yeah, and amulets, rings and possably ear-rings. they dont show up, but can be dropped. will add extra stuff, and make us more diverse in our items/weps.
can be crafter, same way as above, but in two types. 'Usefull' means that it has bonuses and has been enchanted. 'Pretty' is just for show, and can be sold, given as guifts and even used as part of weddings...hey, yeah, Marrages!^^
special rings, so that folks chars can marry in game ^^ i know of at least 3 pairs of peeps i knwo that married in real life, after getting hitched in a game
(whew, glad i got some of that off my chest....sorry if i went on a bit, thanks for the patience )

What i think they might have in the next expansion is a whole new race, and a new area to fit with there own missions and classas etc., pretty much a whole new game with added stuff to the already existing ones. Maybe it will take place in ascalon after you and the prince leave, something like that.

What I would really like to see is an increase in levels beyond 20.(For the Attribute points Increase)
if they set it up so that each chapter you get new classes, or even races, that would be great. And if every chapter you get the ability to advance another 5 levels progressivly getting the levels to level 100 by the last and final chapter of the evolving story line. And an updated character stat screen IE: DMG totals detailing the total dmg your equiped weapon does thats are linked to your attribute selection. IE:for every point in axe mastery and point in strength you see your dmg total and armor peicing totals are..... And last but not least a counter for you resistances IE showing how much restances you have against Fire,Cold,Lightning, and Earth.this interface can be like the Diablo 2 character interface screen.I believe that would be great for most HARD CORE PVE GAMERS.
As far as the PvP people they can just make so that the ones that dont like to unlock stuff can buy the skills they need With either Gold or Experience points. You know to stay competetive with the people that play through the story and unlock there skills through environment game play. That should appease the HARD CORE PVP GAMERS.
Well thats my 2 cents worth.

what i meant, Shin, was that when you are on a mission, its ooh, how do i say it....my PC is drawing the area, with a connection to the server to say, 'im here, running about this bit' (isnt that what the tiny lightning symbols that appear in the top right hand corner of the screen saying 25kb ect are telling us, that were comunicating to their servers?), and your runnign about on Your PC, which is drawing you. our machines know where each of us are, and draws us in for the other player. my PC get a lot hotter and seems to lag more when im in the towns, and i have good speed and good cable so.. do you understand what imean?
also, crafting ep would be EP2, meaning, if you dont want it, just dont buy it the weps will be the same type, only diff being YOU, the player have made it, and it will allow those that want to make stuff the chance to do it.
im sure that there will eventually be customisability to some degree, even in the main game itself, with upgrading too. theres no way to avoid it, realy, since how are you going to be able to keep up and compete with the guys that *have* got the other eps, unless you too can upgrade your older weps types from 'vanilla GW'

some you will get and some you wont
what you wont get is an upset the balance level/attribute increase as then you would not be able to play in the common areas to both chapters

When you buy the chapters of Guild Wars, you will acquire a larger collection of skills and abilities from which to build your skill set, but you will not gain more power.

Purchasing the newer chapters of Guild Wars will not make you strictly more powerful. You will have access to many more strategic options, due to the expanding nature of the skills, abilities, items and professions that you enjoy with each chapter.

However, if you choose not to purchase a chapter, you will still be able to play the chapters of Guild Wars that you own, and you will have common areas in which you will be able to play with and against your friends who have purchased the other chapter(s).

as for what is in the future
Quote:
In subsequent chapters of Guild Wars, you may be able to play members of other races.

well, adding another 20 levels only lasts you a few months anyway, i mean, look at neverwinter nights ^^
some places had to split up their servers into epic and clasic, just to keep the lag to a minimum and stop the bobble-hats from whining about stumbling into epic areas and getting their assess handed to them in a basket :P
ok, expounding on the crafting thing i mensioned.
metals...copper,tinstone,iron, steel,adamintine,mythryl and oriculum.
gems...clear quartz, rose quartze, smokey quartz, fire opal, tiger-eye, bloodstone, moss agate, jade, icy quartz, heamatite, opal and citreen.
copper and tinstone is mined (pre) in the devourer caves. gems are found (pre) in the catacoumbs. coal is found (pre) in the river skale brood cave next to the waterwheel.
when it comes to post, i have yet to make much progress, so the devs would know where to place the stuff best. but all gems, ores ect can be mined in post, with only the low grade gems and copper/tinstone ores found in pre (to keep game balance)
About Gems...Each gem has a special relationship to ether an element or a class. Each Proffesion has a patron god or goddess, and each patron has a Font, placed infront of their statue. (elementalist might be busted, i have not seen their god/goddess yet)
Once a gem is mined, it is then cut, polished (all in one go, so theres less strain on hands and wrists in-game, dont want RSI injuries) and is a saleable item in its own right.
The gems are used for placing in crafted wepons, crafted wands and accessories.
the conections to classess are....Mesmer-Opal Monk-Jade Warrior-Tiger~Eye Elementalist-Citreen Ranger-Moss Agate and Necromancer-Bloodstone.
These types of stones are taken to the statues and placed in the Fonts, where you simply choose 'Ask for a blessing from <deity>' or 'Ask for a blessing of <Other skill thingy> from <deity>'
the blessing is random, but the specific one is for those class skill things like blood magic or strength ect.
the other stones are for element atributes and energy/health.
Clear Quartz: adds energy+ to weps and wands
Rose Quartz: adss Health to weps and wands
Smokey Quartz: Lightning atri to weps, Air element to wands
Icy Quartz: Frost atri to weps, Water element to wands
Fire Opal: Flame atri to weps, Fire element to wands
Heamatite: Ground atri to weps, Earth element to wands
Wepons and Wands.
Wepons will be made from wood, metal and gems. gems can be addedd later on to make a normal item become a *minor* magical item.
the type of metal determins the attk of the wepon, not the users level or skill in crafting. there is NO levels of craftin and you can make any wepon that is craftable at any character level, assuming you can get the ores to make the ingots.
there is NO penalty for being lower level when crafting, everyone has a 5% failur rate, where the item being crafted is destroyed (you dropped it into the furnace and lost it)
About Enchanting the Gems.
the Class Gems are taken to the statue, as said, but the other gems must (in pre) be taken to the Tower in Wizards Folly. the tower is a large cross shape, so in each corner of that cross, there are Elemental Fonts, one for each element. a wepon or wand is placed into the Font, and the Gem for that element is added. then you choose, 'Ask the Element of <type> for a blessing'
wands will become elemental wands, and weps get a slight element bonus.
About Wands and Bows....out in the forested areas of pre (and the dead trees in Post lol) there will be bushes. you wander about and collect Branches from these bushes (no chopping down trees, people, we loose too many in the searing to do that >.< ) and these branches can be made into Bow Staves and Rods.
Rods just require taking to the elementa Fonts, but bows need to be worked at the forge (the bow strings for them could be metal, or else you need to get Monster Guts from killed critters, but they still need to be hardened at the heat of the forge)
i say *minor* because we dont want the crafted items to become sooo popular that dropped items are no-longer usefull.
also...Amulets and Pendants and Rings, oh my! ^^
Amulets can hold 2 stones, rings hold 1 each and pendants hold 1 also. you need the stones (class or health/energy) to be enchanted already, and there are no elemental atri saves with accessories (so that shields and holdable items still have a worth)
whew! that took a while to type but im glad i got it done.
the idea of letting folks craft is that if the Devs want to cut out and kind of game side grinding for items and so on, and i know that there are people that are attracted to crafting also, it gives these people something they can do without removing much from the game itself.
as i said, the ep2 crafting add on is just that, an Optional add on that you dotn have to buy if you dont want crafting
but if you do, you can now craft to yer hearts content...and if some of the weps/wands/accessories ect are usefull to keep yer noobies alive in guild hunts/wars then wheres it hurting :P
