Regardless, whether you're making 50 faction/hour or 500 faction/hour, I'm not impressed by the system. Well, I might be impressed if you could make 500 faction/hour while losing 80+% of your matches, but if a good player on a winning streak is making less than 2000 faction/hour at minimum, I want to know how the heck such a slow rate of progress is supposed to be justified. As long as your numbers are less than that, I don't see much point in quibbling over the exact amount.

And in the present system I'd be impressed if you could get 2000 faction/hour even if all of your opponents were necromancers specialized in suiciding as fast as possible using life-sacrificing abilities.

Well try and consider how long it took people to unlock skills before this new reward system or before they changed the cap sig. All those people who did it the old way are being cheated in my opinion, elites are much easier now to cap and skills are gonna be easier as you can get faction instead of getting 15,000 xp to get a single skill point (which before a certain point could as high as 20,000 xp). Now correct me if im wrong, but it sounds like you want to have as much as you can get with the minimal amount of work. Im sorry if im wrong and dont think im just going against this idea because i have everything ill ever need in this game. I am by far not the best player and dont have everything, but i think that this reward system is good the way it is.

If they lower the price then think about how quick you could... lets say unlock everything. Then whats after that. If you could unlock everything in GW in a mater of a few weeks, then how do you distinguish yourself. Yes you have your guild rank or even your own player rank, but if everyone has everything then whats so special about you. Personally im missing 7 Elem skills and about 20 Mes skills. So if someone needs a Mesmer or an Elem then i can fill it. But if everyone had all those skills then people could just say i need 3 people, there would be no need to identify a Mesmer or an Elem or a Monk, because everyone could be anything. Well enough ranting and raving from me. I think this system and pricing is fine, in my opinion ther is a point where it is TO easy. As for the Dev Team, keep up the good work.

So...what you're saying is that you want the game to inherently favor you for having played longer. You want to be able to use skills and equipment that other people can't because they haven't played long enough.

The game is specifically advertised as not doing that. Therefore, if you want that, and are happy in that respect with the current system, that's evidence that the current system is inconsistent with the game's advertised philosophy, and needs to be made faster. In short, I think you've proven my point.

Now, I can sympathize with your wanting an advantage for your accumulated time, but if Guild Wars were to do what it advertised to do, then you would definitely be playign the wrong game. Lots of other MMO's work like that, Guild Wars is specifically NOT supposed to work like that.

What particularly annoys me is not that they are using or not using any particular design philosophy, but that they are very clearly not being consistent with the design philosophy they advertised.

And all that stuff you listed about being able to unlock everything quickly (which, incidentally, still probably takes a couple of hundred hours of playing even at 2000 faction/hour, and that's not what I call quick), and about anyone being able to play any profession, and make a PvP character to fill in any role in a team...I consider all of those as definitely being very good things. That means that I can try out a lot of different strategies, and play with any other players even if our initial characters have anti-complementary builds, and create all sorts of crazy cross-class combinations to defeat standard strategies my opponents use and keep the PvP fresh and vibrant. It also means that if a friend of mine decides to start playing, I can play with them as soon as they buy the game, not a month later when they've finally got enough skills and equipment to be viable in PvP.
