Grouping with people is too hard!
I personally feel that getting a group together with other people is the slightest bit too hard! having to continually spam "LFG for mission!!" or "LFG for vilinny of gelruth"(yes I've seen that) it's too hard to get a group! we should honestly have like a board where we select something and people who are looking for people for a specific thing then they go to the board and select the people to recruit them!
Yes I know this function can be abused but it would honestly be way better if A-net implemented it! I'm tired of seeing continuous spam of people looking for groups for quests that they cant even spell correctly! What was A-net thinking when they didnt have any way to group other than spamming up the chat!
Maybe even add more channels! ie:%=mission channel ^=quest channel *=bonus channel
that would work too, anything to reduce the spam on the All channel and make it easier for players to group and commune! Also on the All channel I can barely even see the LFG's when I'm constantly seeing
"WTS PURP. FIRY DRAGON SORD WILL PAY LOTS WISPER ME!!!!!!!!!!!<^>```~~~**&^^**^$
See my point!

I agree, thre should be %LFG channel. quest or mission doesn't really matter, but the channel should be there.

I absolutely agree with you, we need a lfg feature. I made a thread about this yesterday. It would be great to have a lfg feature like Lineage II. I posted a picture what it looks like here: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=25175

I reckon they need to enforce the trade channel the WTS/WTB crap spilling out into the local channel is rediculous you cant get a word in sideways through all the spam.
Adding another channel will simply create another place for WTS/WTB spam to exist since whoever uses the local channel for trading evidently dont give an arse about correct channel usage.

Anything including the "words" WTS, WTB, selling, FS, sale, etc should automatically default to the Trade channel. That should be easily done.
FWIW, I was just answering some questions in the main channel and was repeatedly getting "message was suppressed due to comment volume" or some such. A bit ironic, since I wasn't trying to spam, but there's obviously something in there now to try to keep the spam down.

I would rather have a way to put a flag or marker over your head that indicates that you are lfg than have another chat channel to deal with.
Why isn't there a simple menu to mark who and where you are, like there are in other orpg's?

I was thinking that too but then you can barely see anything over the 20 players heads who are grouped around the armor man in Droknars forge! but yeah I was thinking this too

Could not agree more. It's nigh-on impossible to get a group I find, so I almost always just use henchmen (which are worse, hence I often die).
A "Mission" channel definitely seems logical, but you can bet some n00bs will use all chat anyway, like they do for trading.

But, it would greatly decrease the spam on the All channel with the LFG things

Implementation:
/LFP any galrath
so LFP is Looking For Party - server will listen to requests and auto connect
acceptable classes are any
mission is galrath
If you are looking for someone creating a party, the client should have the command:
/LFG galrath
As soon as a client enters that command, it will find the first matching server and add you to the party automatically. In addition, common farming (/lfp smite run), desired places (/lfp underworld) and anywhere (/lfp any) could also be easily implemented.
So obviously, specific areas favor highly specialized mixtures.
/LFP mo 2 w 2 e 2 any 1 mission
This command would allow 2 monks, 2 warriors, 2 elementalists, and 1 arbitrary class to join mission of current area.
How to define keywords: Each mission should have a keyword in blue (or whatever color the community wants) that dictates its handle. So villany of GALRATH.
This is the most basic system and requires minimal text parsing. It would be better, however, if no available servers exist, 8 arbitrary LFG clients will automatically be grouped together. Group merging would have to remain manual, however. Suppose a group of 6 is looking for a monk and warrior. If there is another group with exactly 1 monk and 1 warrior, the join request would be automatic. Ultimately, the actual merge would be entirely user discretion.
Persons who decide to post in the incorrect channels should have their messages only appear on their own screen. Suppose someone posts an uber sword on local chat. That message will Only appear to himself - and to no one else. This would simply involve modification of the obsene language filters already implemented. The advantages of this is decreased traffic on servers, as this could be client side patch effective within the next minute.

Squiros, agreed BUT:
1) LFG should be "open" - like I'm looking for a group, I've got 10 missions, let's see what's around. Not necessarily linked to a mission, or farming, or area, or whatever. I might be looking for a group to reach whatever town there is around.
2) Spamming should befiltered out, period. Not appearing anywhere or appearing everywhere - what you suggest might trick me (I sometimes write in the wrong chat out of distraction) into believing my msg has gone through while it has not. Me, because I'm ego-centric.
I am favourable to an interface where I can LOOK for a group, but I don't want no automatic grouping - there are people I'd rather not group with, and I'd rather browse the available groups rather than let a server choose for me. Somethg like "I'm looking for a group in this area, optional: objective, optional: sought class, optional: avg level. Then I browse select and offer cooperation.

1)
/lfg any any
2)
It's possible to return a notification that your message has been rejected, I suppose - or perhaps not echoed at all. Really, the details can be voted. In fact, it may be as trivial as modifying the chat filter settings (from a developer's point of view).

Taken from Lineage II:
Its showing the Party leader, location, how many people are currently in group and what level players you are looking for. The lfg feature should be similar to Lineage II except it would show the party leaders district, location, classes being looked for, what quests they are doing and what level players are wanted.

I think somebody was getting at this already in the post but im going to make it a little more clear.. well theres all the check boxes for Trading "$" , regular chat "!" and all those there should be 1 called LFG's or something like that and when you type LFG instead of just showing who typed it ex.
Snipe Kan: LFG FOR THIRSTY RIVERS
make it look like this-
R/N 20- Snipe Kan: LFG FOR THIRSTY RIVERS
or to some extent of that

There is a nice one in CoH. Basically in the party window you click if you are looking for a group or not. Then there is a sub window that shows everyone else in the area looking for a group. This window also shows the profession and level. A cool additional is that there was a way of right clicking on a character to view what they chose as their abilities. This would be cool in the sense that sometimes you really dont want a Elem/Mo using all earth, water, healing, and protection, with a few points in energy stprage. Once you accept an invite into a group you are taken off the list. You can also chose to remove yourself from the list if you decide for one reason or another you no longer want to group.
ADDITIONAL: Off topic but slightly related and annoying. I really wish people would at least say hi before requesting to have you join their team.

I totally agree with you there - I prefer to be whispered to first - so high maintenance I am!
I never mind a no-greeting invite if I'm the one who has been advertising lfg, though. It's the unprovoked invites that turn me off.
On the other side of that, if I reject such an invite, I usually whisper to that person before hitting the "reject" button.

How's this, have a drop down box for all the missions / quests that are available from the town (aka green dot shows up on the town exit) that flags you lfg and the quest you are looking for and have some vehicle that lets other that have the same drop down flag (be it LFG / LFM).
It would also be used to convey information on jobs/level and how many parts of your armor were infused (for latter missions) as mentioned above in some fashion.
That way there is no chat spamming and does the job of pre-defined. You could still spam the all chat for taking members who don't have access to the quest.
