Suggestions
Dear Anet, I've decided to write this list of suggestions in hopes that you might find a few good ideas. I find Guild Wars to have a bright future, and I want nothing more than it's success. I'll get right to it.
Guild Member Status should be more informative on mutiple levels.
- Add the online/busy/away/offline button to the Guild tab as well.
- Allow for Guild tab to report guild member as busy or away (they currently show as offline).
- Allow for Guild tab to report guild member location.
- Add ability to target guild member from Guild Tab, if they are in the same zone.
- Allow for Guild tab to show character lvl and classes.
- Allow for Guildleader to assign guild points to members. Even allow for those guild points to be redeemed at Merchants / Rune Traders / Material Traders.
Housing Suggestions.
- Make independant account housing and guild housing
- Balance both the PvP and RPG elements for guild housing. Do not make rewards clearly favor one side of the game, like say, making an Elite guild house for just a single tournament winner. Have that Elite guild house available also for RPG players by defeating an "Uber" boss.
- Allow for non-Guild members to be invited into Guild House.
- Allow for Guild Housing to be purchased in multiple levels. More money buys a larger guild house to accomidate more trophies.
- Trophies, should be be akin to winning real world prizes. Large trophies for tournaments, metals of heroic deads for controlling the HoH, and records of Guild victories.
- Different kinds of Trophies should be done for the RPG side. The killing of end-game bosses, beating of incredibly difficult objectives, or finishing of epic guild quests, should yeld different results. [ Perhaps heads of End-game bosses on a placard? ]
- Guild Housing should include merchants, registers, armor crafters, weaponcrafter, storage, traders, and town crier.
- Town crier should have features such as : Repeating messages, an Alarm for a guild events, and modifiable chat color.
- Guild House could also support extended house features - From serious pvp features like a 1v1 training arena, to RPG aspects like a bar or club, lounges, bonfire pits, etc.
- Account housing should be more specific towards personal fame, accomplishments or wealth.
- Dyes or housing materials should be accessible in different ways for RPG and PvP players.
- PvP players should have a tier system, in which the higher the characters fame, the more a selection of items they can get.
- RPG players should be able to earn the items through questing or purchase. To expand on this idea, quests specifically designed around protecting a crafter, as say they are chopping that lovely birch wood you want for your house, would enchance the RPG element to modifying the house.
- Personal housing should be connected to an account mail system.
- Players should have the option of always logging into their personal residence when they first enter the game.
- Other great rewards ~ mini-games like pool, chess, and checkers. House pets.
- Personal housing accessories like yards, farms, gardens and maybe a stable (for mounts?).
Expanding on current themes
- Add some "Superbowl" type Arena maps specfically for Tournaments.
- Add Guild v Guild or Team versus Team Tetris like maps. The two teams would kill monsters as they attacked. As one team kills a monster, it pushes more monsters onto the other team. Monsters should be completely random.
- Create more bosses in Underworld / Fissure of Woe ~ maybe have a higher chance of dropping Obsidian Shards and Ectoplasms.
- Create large, raid like encounters for larger groups of RPG'ers. Maps of different sizes of maybe 16 players and 32 players would be great at gaining more "hardcore" RPG raid type players.
- PvE tournaments and "ladders" are possible. For instance, run a ring of fire type mission ( meaning mobs spawn in levels, and at the end of each level, a boss mobs pops to end that level. The higher the level, the more points and more difficult the monsters ). This would help with making the PvE a competative environment as well.
- Create more PvE only type rewards ~ like infusion helps against Mursaat, perhaps make specific future enchanments only effect PvE enviroments, and PvE high lvl bosses.
- Purple and Gold Armors - I would highly recommend rare armors dropping from difficult monsters or being rewards for difficult quests. Their effects should be the same as superior runes, meaning trade offfs. An example would be a + 1 hp regen, with - 50 overall hp on a Purple chestplate. Gold armors I would like to see as part of sets, with unique looking graphics perhaps.
- Increase ability for Warriors to draw mobs off other characters. I'm not sure currently if there is a hate calculator, but it would be nice to have a more consistant way to determine aggro outside the current state of path blocking. I would recommend tying in hate to being hit by adrenaline attacks.
- Allow characters to place markers on the World Map. When highlighted, they could show information that the user has recorded when they made the marker. Such as "Collector ~ 41 grade chestplate."
In conclussion, I believe Guild Wars can support most of these features realistically. I'm not concerned obviously with a timetable, and if there are any questions on clarity, feel free to contact me. Thank you.
