I have posted before a new way of leveling. Once you reach 20 then after that it would take many XP points to get to 20.1, then 20.2 and so on up to level 21.
Once you reach a milestone like level 25 or 30 then it would open up more Areas and Skills/Spells.
Just a thought...I know some would hate this idea.

duck, that's the first time i've seen that used as an insult, lol
and that idea of 20.1 and so on, that encourages grind....although if it were tied to fame or rank, or even faction, that would be cool...still grind involved, but not just mindless mob killing

I can't stand people who whine and complain about there not being anything to do past level 20. EVERY other MMORPG out there encourages grinding and putting countless hours into the game, and gives you a high level and incredible equipment to show for it. So why don't you go play those, instead of griping about a game that's main focus is PVP, and is lucky enough to have such an incredible PVE game along with it.

Good point. I didn't think of Fame or Rank. That can work. Doesn't seem to matter what game you play on a computer there is repetition...or...Grind as allot put it. I don't see any change in that until there is a true A.I. developed for computer games.

Actually on a more positive side to this idea. I like the idea because sometimes I would like to see how many times I have cycled lvl 20 for the skill point. Personal information, it would not need to be available to all if bragging is an issue.

Making self-ish decision to implement dumb enough ideas is not a reason to change something.

Wow, I only use the word n00b not on new players, but on people who are not willing to learn and you my friend, are not willing to learn the fact that you are an idiot. This post was not made to have the Devs increase the level cap to make you stronger because a) It is too hard or b) I want to be stronger. The poster originally posted his idea so that just your level is increased, not your stats. It would be a bragging right, like Fissure Armor, to be Lv.300. It wouldn't make you stronger, but it would show that you do have the time and dedication (or lack of life.......j/k although somewhat true haha) to get that far such as my last example, Fissure Armor......... The curtious thing to do is not to flame the person but instead tell him/her about the search feature, which they even admitted to using and not finding anything helpful.....sigh.
Now on to the the original discussion. Although I don't see any straightout visable problems with this change, there is one MAJOR flaw in this suggestion.
If you do grind to Lv.40 (Oh Mighty Savior), then what would happen if they were to increase the level cap in later expansions?(although the Devs did say there would be no increase, you never know about what could happen in expansions) What if the new Lv. cap IS 40? Then, you will basically breeze through the first 80% of the game until you get to the NEW difficult parts. Although I like where the suggestion comes from, you might have forgotten to look into the future a bit. That is all.

Personally, I think that levels are a stupid, pointless mechanic and that Guild Wars would be better if they simply did not exist. Just give all new characters 19 skill points, 480 health, and 170 attribute points. The idea of a "character level" could be almost completely eradicated from the game. ("almost" simply because NPCs can go over level 20 and enjoy all the benefits that go along with it)
If you really want some number to tell you how much you've ground (grinded?), just open the in-game attribute panel, (I think it's the 'H' key by default) and move your mouse cursor over your skill point count. The tooltip will show you how many skill points the character has earned over its life.

i think what would be more hilarious, is when the level 20 guy kills the level 140 guy. that would sort of deter the "HAHAHA I AM LEVEL 97 AND YOU'RE ONLY LEVEL 23 YOU SUCKY NOOB" when they're on an even playing field and the level 23 slaughters the level 97 hands down.
but in the end, it's all pointless ego crap anyways. if you're going to do that, you might as well implement a title system. in fact, i'd rather be Baron Wolfgang Dietrich R/N20 than Wolfgang Dietrich R/N84 any day.
