Multiple account suggestion
Hi
I'd like to suggest something for people (especially siblings) who have one account. I know several pairs of brothers who play GW, they bought one copy and made a character for each of them to play on.
The problem is that they want to play PvP at the same time in their guild, and so one is buying another copy of the game. However, now he has to start his character over again from the very beginning.
What if there was an export/import tool to transfer characters from one account to another so he wouldn't have this difficulty?

The problem with this idea, is that it could be abused very easily. People could then be able to sell characters for money, instead of just items.

I think it's a good idea for migration but they have to adderss the issue in reguards to "buying" a character for the purpose of unlocked skills unless it doesn't unlock anything on your account and the skills only apply to that character.
People are selling there characters now depsite the violation of the TOS.

Hmm.. yah, that is a good point. Could be easily abused...
I'm sure the ArenaNet programmers can come up with some clever solution though

o and a really easy solution is to have to be able to enter the cd key when importing a character.

Once you've been through the game once its easier the second time through, and having two accounts maybe he'll be able to get his brother to help him the second time.
You can easily get a lvl 20 character in a couple of days if you know what you are doing.
Its too easily abused, and not realy that necessary. If this were EQ or WoW with a 50+ level cap that took weeks and months to reach, then maybe it would be more viable.

but why is it againist the eula?
whats the difference if i sold my account to a REAL LIFE FRIEND or i sold it over ebay? what difference does that make?
Its still ONE ACCOUNT. that account will exist either way. if the person WHO BOUGHT the game doesn't want it anymore why cant he sell it to someone?
Is it affecting you and the way you play?

It's against the EULA because the EULA specifically forbids it. Here it is:
#10 You may not advertise the intent to or commit the act of buying, selling, trading, sharing, or transferring access to any Guild Wars account.
#11 You may not advertise the intent to or commit the act of buying or selling items for cash or trading items from one server to another.
You're not allowed to sell your account to your friend, nor are you allowed to eBay it. Why not? Because ANet says so, and it's their game . You merely purchase the right to create a few characters on their servers, and by doing so you agree to their EULA, and if you break the EULA they can ban you.

Because, then we end up with people who like to sell sucky accounts to unsuspecting players for ridiculous amounts of money, just like in RS. Yes, I know, not exactly the best game to compare, but it happens there very often.

This idea certainly has merit. That way you're simply expanding your own account so you can get more out of the game. Or perhaps just purchasing more character space or something, even discounted? (ok so I'm a tight arse, I'm comfortable with that!)
