Anti-Scam Features
I was just watching the trade messages go by in LA when i had a sudden thought. Features in the trade window to help cut down on scammers.
Warning messages when people try to sell customised items like armour and weapons can cut down a lot, because the amount of people i see trying to sell items like this is quite silly.
Make the trade window a little more like the new trader windows too, so that the actual text description of the item is shown alongside it's image to cut down on those people who swap around items.
Sorry if this has been brought about before, I didn't really ahve time to search, cause i'm off out now.
as usual, comments + crits welcome and by all means, add your own ideas

Why not just mouse over the item to make sure that it is what it is supposed to be? That will tell you if it is customized....

Customized isn't a problem - just hovering the mousepointer over the object shows that. I'd like some way of telling that an object is a collectors item, and so can't be salvaged, e.g. that it's named "Collectors Longbow of Fortitude", or that it says 'unsalvageable' in the description.

But does that really make a difference to you? If you want the bow, does it really make a difference whether it came from a collector or a kill?

Yes because in one case you can salvage it and in the other you cannot.
I might want the bow at a point but after at a moment I can get something better and so my use for the collectors item became sell it or salvage it.

Good point - I didn't think about that.
I stand corrected

Well then, just sell it! How would this be any different than actually getting the item from a collector and upgrading to a better one later? You're still in the same boat whether you got that item from a PC or an NPC, the only difference is, you have a greater chance of overpaying for the item from the PC, at which point the use of common sense ought to kick in.

You wouldn't believe the amount of people i've seen complaining about the fact that they bought a weapon and it turned out customised. It happens, and if something can be done to help prevent it, then surely it should be done?
