I think pet armor should be infused. I had a public gent who wouldn't leave his bear dead, even though Spectral Agony ground and reground it into a crimson puddle. Perhaps if the pet would've survived the the ranger wouldn't have blacked out his skills over and over in a futile fued with the Mursaat.

Funny, with all the talk about armor, I came up with the ludicrous idea of pet armor runes. Then again I doubt that's workable or even balanced but it's still a fun thought. Imagine getting a rare salvage armor and then going "wtf? pet rune? @!#@!&$_!&$"

that would be harsh. dyed pets. owww. animal testing/cruelty.hehe
but i wouldnt mind having a silver/blue bear.
as for the armor: I would like to see the cape on my pet. now thats personalized. or a tatoo that can be dyed...(that would be a little funny, if they gave pets their own inventory screen)

Ok, have pets spawn in different colors randomly. Variation in the wild, as someone said.
Then make it so you could trade your pets around to people, because people would want the super rare colored pets (And we all know that animals don't have feelings and wouldn't mind being traded around, especially since they aren't real animals).
I can just see it now, "WTS Rainbow Bear to kind owner. Pm with offers!"
Oh man... We could go on hunts. Not item hunts or skill hunts... but actual animal hunts.
Maybe instead of charm animal we could get "harpoon animal." Or something like that.
But now I'm getting carried away...
This sentence will sum everything up:
Variation in the wild is good and trading pets is also good.

I'm thinking if you had rare animals in the wild then everyone would go for those and the common ones would just get left out. Then you have the same situation as before. All the animals are the same. That's why I thought the coloring system was a good idea in the first place. Of course if you had various colors, a wide range with rare and common colors, then that would be great. Everyone could get what they wanted.
As for armor, why can't it be just like people's armor, with runes for upgrades. It makes sense, the programming is there, it just needs to be adapted to the pets.

I think this Idea could go a long way, and in several different directions. However right now pets serve little more pourpse than cannon fodder in later levels. Pet armor could be a little much(tho the idea of my fenrir in full combat armor with bladed paw gloves for added damage is drool worthy.) Perhaps they could however implement a pet trainer, this would bring up a menu much like the current attribute menu and allow you to spread an alloted amont of points in your pets abilities. dependent on level of course.
A bear could have the warrior strengh attribute as well as an endurance (health) and maybe speed (attack speed) attribute a collar like mentions above could give your pet some added defence and possibly have the "Pet Rune" placed in it. and give pets the own skills the bear has his mauling ability why can my wolf have a rip (bleeding??) ability.
Anyone else think this idea could work?

A pet trainer is a great idea. Give them skill points like we have. That would be awesome. It just seems like a pet should be more than just a extra weapon. Giving them attributes, collars, armor and color makes them more of a companion than an accesory.

So, you are saying we should have WoW pets, now I don't disagree that this would help pets a lot, as they suck now, but it still sounds like WoW.

WoW, had pets getting skills from pet trainers, and pets that were actually good, that tanked and aggroed well (most of the time).

Ah, I was thinking that the pets would get the attribute points from the trainer as suggested by TrueLoki and apply them to Strength, Endurance, Speed, Attack. Skills/spells would still be applied from your attack bar.

Why would you want to have attributes, all the pets are for different things, just find the pet that has the attribute setting you like, don't make all the pets the same.

not wow type skils but more like combat modifing attributes. One wolf could have a really hihg defence and damage but very low attack speek while another has an attack speed through the roof and moderate in the other 2

If you want high defense get a bear, if you want speed get the speed pet (strider?) but don't make all the pets the same, and the ability to customize them.
