My fists will not be used to hit warriors. My fists will be used to hit pansy mesmers.

Also, I suggested a fix to the above problem, by linking it to smiting prayers, your monk isnt hitting with JUST his fists, he's using Balthazaar-Powered Butt Kicking Fists of Fury.

HEY!!! YEAH!!! And we can have NPC doctors who will stitch you up for 2k when you jump on a dune borrower and bust your fists all up!!! COOL!

And 4k for burn treatments from injuries relating to man handling inferno imps and titans...lol.

Again, the monk is using his fists as a conduit for smiting magic. He doesnt feel any of that.

Yes, that's right. It's Balthazar who's actually doing the punching, you're just cheering him on.

Not quite that much - we're looking at 18-28 range for 12 in smiting prayers.

Well, you have to understand that Balthazar is a busy, busy man. Think about it, how many monks are playing at a particular given time, all asking favors from him?

We dont really want a whole new class, we want monks to use what they do when they /dance offensively.

I feel the best fighting style for the monk would be Tai Chi or Aikido (Hapkido in Korea). Or quite less cool but fitting since it matches the /dance, caparia (sp?).

All classes should have some sort of unarmed combat option. Their damage decided by class and their estimated max dmg for their level (based on some common skill perhaps)

Monk - 60%
Warrior - 40%
Ranger - 35%
Mesmer - 30%
Elementalist/Necromancer - 20%

many will cry that this is unfair, but how could a wizard who spends most of his youth nose buried in books hit as hard or effectively as a warrior who spends most of his youth wailing on strung pigs in his father's shed?

I like the Balthazar powered fist idea. Also, even if the monk wasn't using balthazars power to punch, why can't he just puch that big ungly warrior in the throat where there is no armor? Or the Eyes? Those could be new skills... punch in the throat, the casters cant use spells since they can't chant anything, or the warrior cant use shouts. Punching in the eyes causes blindness. lastly, a kick in the back of the knees casues crippled. Anyway, the monk could punch the warriors in armor at the weak spots! The possibilties are endless.

People can't really argue about fist hitting armor is not plausible, because obviously some aspects of reality are thrown out the window in video games. GW is no exception. You still typically have to hit someone 10+ arrows to kill them, or hit someone numerous times with a sword/axe. In real life, one good hit of a war hammer is enough to knock someone senseless (if not death), but not in GW. So monks being able to use open hand techniques is not that far-fetch, IMO.

When I first played GW as a monk, I was hoping to find at least a staff for melee attacks, but only staves I've found shoots magic missiles.

Anyways, I like that idea of open hand fighting for monks. Or at least, a bo or a jo weapon for melee. I've always thought of monks as separate from wizards and sorceres (and mesmers in GW).

And another thing about armor, monks would have no trouble beating on females of ANY class, except perhaps certain female armor styles for warriors- those things show so much skin, a Mesmer could hit them with his fist and deal damage.

And actually, I'm against Warriors having open hand, really. They don't train in open-hand melee like a monk does, they train in beat stuff senseless with a weapon in hand.
