Well take my group yesterday. We were kicking butt, having a good time outside copperhammer mines on a trip to the Granite Citadel. All was going well till two people in the group of eight decide they wanna go get the elite skills in the area and leave us in the middle of battle to go off and get these skills. The point of the trip was to get to the citadel and our leader knew the way. Well we carried on and got killed within sight of the gates to Citadel... WITHIN SIGHT! of course off on their own was these two people going for a skill... they ignored our pleas to either try and run it or die so we could all res as we were so close anyway and had cleared all the monsters for the most part, it would have been a simple walk back through. Nope no answer. Finally we just gave up and mapped back into the town, leaving the party. A kick system would have been great cause I had to get into a new group and start ALL OVER.

And what if it's the leader who's acting like an idiot? Yesterday, I reached the Crystal Desert for the first time (on my primary char). I found a party for that quest to get to Augury Rock (forgot what it's called). Apparently, the guy who was the leader of the party (who had been relatively civil in town) wanted to run there more than fight. We killed some monsters who were in the way but mostly were just running. I accidentally agro'd a stupid devourer because of that video glitch where your character randomly "jumps around" on the screen. After the extra two seconds it took to kill the devourer, the leader was like, "Wtf man are you a f***ing retard what the hell is your problem why do you have to go agro everything?" After I told him that it was the stupid video glitch he responded that "this time he'd believe me" to which I responded that I didn't give a damn whether or not he believed me. The other four members of the party were, to their credit, silent during this. Apart from the fact that it gave me a pretty bleak view of the people populating the Crystal Desert, should I, according to your system, have been kicked out of the party because I agro'd "everything"?

omg rare firey dragon sword, kick the guy who it dropped for!!!!!
Good point. But it's very simple to make that impossible, by keeping it assigned to the guy who was kicked.

I think the rest of the group wouldn't have kicked you out, looking at the strange behaviour of your leader. I agree that the leader shouldn't be able to kick members out of the group by himself.

Anyway, because there is still no kick/vote system I now mainly play missions with henchmen. It's really spoils the fun of the game. And BTW, there IS a kick system before you start the mission. Why not one during the mission? I mean, only then will you be able to know if there is a rotten apple in your group

And what we haven't discussed: with a kick/vote system people will be forced to behave during missions, because there is the danger that they will kicked out again and again. I'm sure a lot will change their behaviour, because there are consequences. Right now, there aren't.

Current situation:

NO kick/vote system
- people will start to do missions with henchman, which spoils the fun of the game => they win, we loose
- missions will be ruined and have to be done sometimes several times over => they win, we loose

In other words, we always loose right now! They can laugh their asses of and can do whatever they want. There are no consequences. Even if you let him die, it's our disadvantage because we will have one member less. With a kick/vote system WE will win. Believe me, it's only better guys.

No matter how many times i see this suggested or how many "upsides" there are to it i just cant bring myself to agree with it, people could really expoit it (and im sure no matter what Anet does people will find a way)

there are many other solutions instead of kicking someone, if they are being a moron get them killed or something and dont rez, if someone AFKs at the start of a mission why not just restart it?.. doesnt sound to hard to me.. infact ive done it a few times, its a lot easyer than it sounds... the kick function just kinda sounds like a easy way out..

id say the "Kick" function has a 50/50 chance of working.. it may start off good, but as soon as somone starts exploiting it or someone gets kicked for having to go to the bathroom, Anet is going to get a earfull "WTF I GOT BoOTEd!, TaKE off BOOT funcTion YoU laZy BUmbs!! !!" (bad grammer, spelling and caps were intended)... and personaly i think anet had enough people taking swings at them, i dont think they need anymore...

thats just what i think though...

PS: The views expressed by the angry person were not mine.. i agree with everthing anet does (nerfs, long time periods between updates, other things everyone else whines about, etc).. /kissbutt

I don't think a lot of jerks will change their behavior just because of that (jerks are jerks anyway)
if 3 people of the group are kicked, the group will have 3 people less
of course you can think about replacing them with henchmen but this is not available right now (even for people who get disconnected)

you're thinking about a few bad people in the party
I'm thinking about a majority of bad people in the party

like already said, it's 50/50
