Suggestions for GW
Here are a couple things I think Anet should think about, to improve the GW experience.
1. There should be a an add-on to the crafting system which allows people to produce trade goods, granted they train in the appropriate skills. A system like this would give people a more stable commodity with which to sell. A "Blacksmith" profession could learn the art of crafting sword/weapon upgrades. A magic-type crafter could learn the art of creating runes (with the high end runes being difficult to make)
2. More RPG elements should be incorporated into the game. Taverns and player housing (which would have storage), and stuff like that. There should be more to do than just combat. What about mini-games? Any of these things would make the game far more interesting. I would like to see an Ascalon Casino where you can bet, gamble, make wagers on fights and whatnot. It's little things like these that will make hanging out in cities fun.
3. an Auction House is needed very badly. Right now, there si no way to connect buyers and sellers to eachother in-game. You're only home to try and sell something is to use the Trade Channel (which most people have turned off anyway) or spam up the main channel. An Auction House would allow people to sell their items efficiently, and allow buyers more choices when buying.
4. A mail system would be nice too, as this goes hand-in-hand with #3. A mail system would allow you to send things to other players (for a fee) and send messages to offline players, which they would read when they came online. My guildmates and I are constantly giving stuff to eachother, and it would be so much easier to just drop the stuff in a mailbox than to go to the trouble of arranging a meeting spot, and trying to find the person for a face-to-face trade. The fees incurred by using this service would also act as a gold sink, and in turn would improve the struggling economy.
5. Another thing that would help Guild Wars would be a "Group Tab" of sorts. You open up this menu, and you could list yourself as interested in doing whatever quest or mission you need to do. This way, everyone that wants to do the quest YOU want to do, you can easily sort and find. Say you need to find a W/Mo, you could easily filter the results to find a W/Mo that you want. This would reduce spam in the channel, for one, and would most certainly make forming groups less of a headache.
6. I think a more functional buddy list would be nice as well. Pop-ups or at least text notifications when your friends come online, or go offline. Maybe a field to show where your friend is, his level/class/info/etc. For the Guild Tab, it would be nice if it would show the location of your guildmates, so you can find them easily. I just realize that I hardly use my buddy list anymore, simply because it's kinda simplistic in nature as-is.
7. Level requirements on armor is also needed. It seems like more and more people aren't playing the game anymore, they're just being run to Droknars for the armor. Problem is, when people are run through the game like this, they usually don't have all the skills unlocked, or even a decent number of points in their skills. So then these people join groups, and it's like carrying dead weight. I know people will complain that they don't want to do so-and-so over again, but I think A-net should put a stop to people being run through the game.
8. Being able to change the target of your spell at the last minute would also be nice. Many times I've been casting Life Siphon, and suddenly the creature I originally targeted dies on me. Well even if you select a new target, the spell fizzles and you have to re-cast. This would make life so much easier for spellcasters, as some spells take a long time to charge-up.
9. Another thing that is a real problem is people dropping mid-mission. Since sometimes people drop for legitimate reasons, it's probably not fair to penalize people for quitting mid-mission. However, a vote system should be in place for groups to kick people. Every so often you run into some griefer who's determined to aggro everything and sabotage the group, there should be some alternative to dealing with players like this without quitting and re-forming the group. It would also be nice if henchmen could fill in for players that quit. The henchman would be of the same level and primary profession of the player that quit. This would give parties a fighting chance of completing the mission if their healer drops 5 minutes into the game.
10. and lastly, more PvE content... more content all across the board. The possibilities are endless. A-net has said they are thinking of adding new races (Dwarves, Goblins, Charr, Elves, whatever) or even new classes (GW needs an Assassin class) ... anyway GW simply needs more customization options like hairstyles and skin tones, more PvE content for those that aren't very good at PvP. I hate to say it, but I think the item system needs a big overhaul. Unique items, rare items, set items, hooded cloaks, crossbows, daggers... whatever it takes, just give us some more items to choose from! One of the things about Diablo II was that you could play the game forever and still find items you'd never seen before, maybe GW should adopt a similar idea about in-game items.
Anyway, that's my rant. Don't take this the wrong way, I love Guild Wars and it's a blast to play. Can't wait to see what A-net gives us in Chapter 2.

I have never heard of #4 before and that sounds fantastic. "Hey buddy, i've got a present for ya. It's in your mailbox"
How easy is that? WOW, i'm impressed.
As for #10, that has been mentioned before but what are Anet doing about it?
As far as i can see, they can change the graphics of items (mursaat tokens, blobs etc) but they cannot add new items.
Throwing in new items wouldn't hurt would it?
When i started playing Guild Wars, every item was new and each drop was exciting to find.
"Wow, a charr carving...i wonder how rare these are and what they are for"
Then i realised it's just a rubbish wooden stocking filler.
More weapons, more armours, more novelty items, bigger variety of metals and materials.
Steering PvE into the direction of general MMORPGS will not destroy it's uniqueness.
Having few things to entertain people will!
Good post OP.

On a scale from 0-100%, with 100% being the thing I think will make me enjoy Guild Wars the most, and 0 means I have no interest and think it would make things less fun for me:

I mostly could care less about this, but it wouldn't actually detract from my game play experience. I just want Arena to work on other things instead.

Mini games would be great, I think, especially if they can make them relate to your character somehow. I'm not sure how far this should go, really. Guild Wars has a unique flavor, and there are other games that do these things better already, I think. It may not be entirely worthwhile for Arena to try and go whole-hog in this direction.

I agree that this would solve a lot of issues. It's not vital, but boy it would be helpful. It's also a ton of work, though. I don't want Arena to drop everything to do this, just to get it done when they have time.

I really want this. It would be pretty easy to do, I think.
I admit some heavy level of bias here: I have two Guild Wars accounts, and you have to jump through hoops right now to trade items between two accounts if you have only one computer (including messing with Guild Wars settings in the registry, ack!), so this would really help me out.

This would make the game a lot more fun, playable, and approachable for all players. This would be a fantastic thing to bring to Guild Wars. That said, not a trivial task either. Much like the auction house: Would be great to have, but please don't drop everything to put this in. I'd rather have this than the auction house, when it comes to that.

Agreed. This general functionality is lacking, both buddies and guild, etc.

0%. I just disagree. I don't see a real problem here. In particular, I suspect in the long run that most characters will be a player's second or third character, not their first. (That is, I think most player's will make at least two characters, and many people 3+, which means that more than half of the characters will be going through their second time at least.)

Interest: ??? 20-50%
This would at least be controversial in PvP. I'm not sure it's bad, but it would certainly change things.
Also, I often queue up my next spell on a different target while the current one is casting, and I don't actually want it to change the current target. Still possible, but some interface issues there.

I agree that there's a problem here. The possible solutions are many, so I hope Arena looks at the problem quite seriously and tries something as a solution. Some of the (possibly best) solutions aren't particularly onerous to at least try out, so I'd hope this wouldn't take too long to try to address (knowing that the solution is probationary).

Sure. That's called an "expansion pack". That 100% interest is to say that I'll be buying the expansion pack when it comes out.

I completely agree with the mailbox idea. That's a really unique idea that i've never heard before. Come on A-net; look at this thread!

Oh, I love those threads!
I'll keep it even easier. Yes or No.

No. It's not an MMORPG.

No. It's not an RPG. All of this means more load on the servers.

No. There are trade forums for that. Auction House means more load on the servers.

Yes. But what if the receiver's inventory is full? Return to sender? Oh, and what if his inventory is now full too? Return to receiver? I can just see the stream of abuse that's going to come from this. Clever idea, though.

No. I don't mind running to Droknar (powerleveling, actually) with people in my guild who start a new character. Also, if the story sucked less, people would actually care.

Yes. Innate problem of instancing. Can't be resolved. Sucks royally.

Yes. The advantages of this outweigh the possible abuse. Just don't complain when you go farming UW with a bunch of people who know each other and you get kicked when you get a golden max damage Storm Bow drop.
