Smile Reactive Armor Sets

Hi,

Sorry if this has been discussed before.

Currently Armor is designed to be purely defensive. What about Reactive types of armor such as: Spiked Armor, Firey Armor, Armor of Static Charge...etc? The idea would be to of course provide primarliy protection, but in addition these armors would react to physical attacks resulting in damage to the attacker. Piercing DMG for Spiked Armor, Elem. Fire DMG for Firey Armor, Elem. Air DMG for Static Armor...you get the idea. However, you do not get attack bonuses with this armor e.g. attacking while wearing the armor does not increase your attack damage. The bonuses only work when you are physically attacked.

For game balance, this type of armor would not have other defensive bonuses against certain types of attacks. Just a reactive armor mod instead.

This armor would be like the 15k armor, meaning that it is expensive/difficult to get and not readily available to everyone.

Just a thought.

Hmmm, might be an idea, though this might turn out a real pain in combat. And maybe it will throw the power of warriors a bit off (because there actualy the only ones that fight from up close)

You are correct. This would give builds with weak armor (casters) a little better chance when in a Melee attack i.e. Warriors in PvP or melee characters in PvE. But as a balance to this the extra defensive bonuses against certain attacks would not be allowed thus making them more vurnerable to another type of attack (e.g. elemental damage).

For example: Currently there exists an elementist Pryromancer's armor set. This armor has a 15% def. bonus against fire DMG. A new reactive armor set called "Firey Armor" would not include any def. bonuses, ONLY the reactive bonus against physical attacks. So using this armor set, the Elem. is now more vunerable to fire and just as vurnerable to physical attack as before, so the Elem still dies from physical dmg just as quickly as before. However, the Elem's armor now inflicts some amount of fire damage to a melee attacker.

So there is a trade off. From the Melee attacker's point of view, he'll kill the Elem just as quickly but will take some damage. From the point of view from an attacker using a Fire based weapon or Fire spells...the Elem will take even more damage and die quicker.
