Gah they can be countered lie evrything else. This takes me back to the spike build debates
|
I know better than anyone exactly how much time to cast, my primary character is a Ranger.
Now, let's see. Blind gets removed by a Monk with Mend. Diversion? Just wait/Oath Shot. Signet of Humility? Well, you've already got a couple down anyway, may as well wait. Blackout? Wow, you've stopped them for a whole 5 seconds. Interrupt them? Oath Shot. Especially since your average idiot team has half the team spamming spirits haphazardly, you simple cannot keep up.
What you don't understand is that there are skills built into to counter Spiking (Ie, Protective Spirit) Nothing counters Nature's Renewal but playing under Nature's Renewal, which removes a ridiculous amount of build options. Fertile Season giving spirits more HP makes killing them at any reasonable rate impossible. Oath Shot and Quickening Zephyr combined allow placement about x4 as fast as normal. Multiple Rangers doing it only makes it worse.
Please, try actually playing Guild Wars instead of suggesting obvious failed counters. Do you think if your ideas -worked- people would still be protesting and raising balance issues? Or do you believe you're the only person in Guild Wars who ever heard of Signet of Humility and Diversion?

Maybe you're just not good enough at spirit spamming. I think that's more likely.

I'd love to think of new builds, but you know, with the fact that using enchantments and hexes in Tombs is pointless, that takes awhile.

the fix is easy. Make it so that there can only be one spirit of said type down at once. If you cast a new spirit in the range of the old one then the old one disappears and the new one replaces it. Problem solved... no more mindless spamming, but you still have the option to effectively maintain spirits up (just takes more brains than spamming sheer numbers).

Which I think a signet of spirit slaying or whatever would do the trick. People could still spam spirits, but there would be a spot on folks skillbar set to minimize the impact of that.

So what does that say about you people who just can't seem to beat them no matter what? I guess it means your not good enough to beat them? It's all about skill and experience. And if you cant beat that, then i guess you dont deserve to beat it. I do realize that NR is very potent, but there are ways aroun it people. Anet knows about this build sweeping the pvp areas. If it hasn't been nerfed yet, it doesnt need to be nerfed.

Agreed. Only those who really know how to use spirits and spam properly are doing well in the tombs, others will get beaten by a good smiting team on the way. It's not spirit groups holding the HoH most of the time but healing groups like Sissy Boys, who seem to like to stand in a healing ball at the moment.
People seem to be complaining because others are, if they actually got to the hall of heroes they would notice spirit groups don't get all the way most of the time. As for NR, whats stopping any groups from using it if it really is as powerful as you seem to think? Why not use it yourself until or IF it is nerfed or changed in any way. No need to keep complaining i'm sure it will go noticed in one or two threads and on the game if anet think its that much of a problem.

Let's not over exadurate now.
It's really not impossible to counter. It's not even that hard if you think about it that much, but garunteed a good ranger team will be able to overcome you true. You can't beat everyone its the point of a strategy game, there's a counter to everything. It's the kind of skill i guess that seperates the good from the very good.

Guess you got me there Kishin. Yeah theres no way to beat then. Nope deosn't work. Odd thing is though my teams have only lost against this thing once and we were two men down by that point. Why don't you actually TRY what i suggested?

sissy boys is not a healing ball group. dont say what you dont know ^_^
and spirit spamming i believe in fact is imbalanced... spirit spam done RIGHT, cannot be killed without two GOOD teams in HOH.
the imbalance is that spirit spamming leads to long drawn out boring games. In the letter on gw.com they said they would address the issues that keep the game from being fun. Fighting spirit spammers has never been fun, e.g. long long boring gvgs vs KCHS, to the state of tombs today. Spirit spam groups cannot usually kill us, but there is no effective way to kill them. It should be fixed anyway to the point where one team alone has a viable chance to kill them... I remember when burial mounds would last 5 minutes... now 30+ is not uncommon.
signet of humility will work against the oath shotter, althought not well unless you have two... the best spirit groups dont have one spirit dropper, although they usually only have one oath shotter.

Wow, more random scrubs with no understanding, saying spirit spam is balanced. I think I'll stick with my own, Ensign's and the rest of iQ's, and pretty much the whole competitive PvP community's view on the matter.

NR would still gimp enchantments and hexes. And signets don't have energy cost (not that is matters).

Your right there i got the wrong guild name, i seem to remember beating the sissy boys and then they were the ones who complained at me and my guild team for beating them with sprits. I remember loads of insulting etc because they didn't win. Maybe you could explain that?
Another quick question if you check this thread again, i heard the sissy boys are offering the chance to join their guild for 10$, firstly, is this true? secondly if it is, that is stupid imo.
Spirits are unbalanced, yes. As for your part about long, boring games i gotta disagree. Personally, but this is just me, i wouldnt want games over in a flash with a quick smiting run, smiting teams bore me to death theres so many.
Yes, they're complex.
Yes, they're hard to organise.
But the builds are just lying around on forums for people to pick up, ranger teams are only good if you really know how to use them, it takes skill and even if you pick something up from a forum there are so many other things to organise.
But i guess im not with the majority and others hate ranger teams and disagree. Just speedy battles not my kinda thing, long battles require consistency and more skill (strategy).
