PVP suggestions: New Maps
I am not a major PVP player, probably will not be.
However, I can agree with PVP'ers that some new maps/style of playing PVP would be nice.
More likely than not, there are new maps being made and tested right now.
For the purpose of opening a discussion on new suggestions:
What type of new PVP maps would you like seen made?
Not just location (shiverpeaks, ring of fire, ascalon), but setup and looks.
Example:
Instead of an open arena, how about an arena where there is more debris/path finding to create bottle necks that have to be fought through with plans prepared in order to get through.
Traps? Not segie weapons, but an ability to cause environmental effects in the map. Maybe have a trap to cause water in map to become poisoned for a period of time. Use dwarven explosives to open new paths to attack enemy's position.
This may suitable for all regular PVP arenas, but just an idea to mix up what has to be done in a PVP match instead of meeting somewhere on the map and duking it out.

I agree. Until you get to Lion's Arch the arenas get boring. It's be interesting to see more environmental effects (like ice, tar, lava) around, too. Perhaps gates like in Guild Halls?

The environment gets boring after a while (even though I only PvP between favors). Siege weapons just randomly shooting would be fun for runners. Maybe a place where it's basically a circle and lava slowly rises from the outside cramping the area in.

Both of those ideas is what I am trying to imply.
Thank you for your suggestions.
Differing factors per map could increase playability.

Would be interesting to try out, you mean this for GvG and arena only?.. or Tomb along with that?

I spoke too i American guy that was rank 9, i asked him if he didnt gett kinda bored of playing PvP so much and he said yes. I asked him if he was planing too become rank 12 (dragon emote) then he said that, no he wouldnt have that as a goal, not until they have changed the maps.. and i can agree with him, im only rank 3 but still i think the maps are boring...

Firstly, hey lord! (i was in clan plus few days ago, i left) wont say why not really fair for here.
Secondly, agreed. i guess on the expansion they will create new maps and effects. For GvG, tomb, arena altogether. They cant really add more maps without taking away so would be intresting to see what happens.
Nice ideas with the dwarven explosives and poison water btw Jaythen.

Quote:
creative maps can add a lot to the variety, strategy and fun.
Here's some thoughts:
- Remember the PVE mission Dragon's Lair? Why not have some similar arenas/Tombs maps/GvG maps? Areas that have various sorts of environmental effects, degen, random earthquakes, slow, etc.
- Most of the pvp maps are pretty similar to each other in design. They should add more different ones - Why not narrow mazelike corridors to benefit melee? Large open spaces with many pillars to hinder projectiles? High Hills and walls with open areas to help rangers? Areas with slowing rivers and lakes?
- We already have maps that encourage defensive play around a set area. Why not some maps that encourage aggressive play? (eg. an island that's slowly being overrun by lava, with the terrain being randomly but gradually covered. Teams have to battle it out to stay on an ever-decreasing amount of safe land.)
- Maps that encourage splitting off into smaller groups, and having 1v1 or 2v2 sub-battles? (eg. a map that has several corridors that must be assaulted and defended simultaneously)
I think if we had more different types of maps and gameplay, there would be less complaints about certain very powerful defensive builds, as other types of strategies would be more useful on other maps.

Also currently too many maps encourages camping. For example in the lava arena map, the team who camp at their resurrection shine will have superior advantage. This is bad because if both teams camp it will be boring.
Also we need more maps that encourage the use of AOE, such as narrow passage, tighted area etc.
It would be good to have a tomb map that joins parties together on a side. For example 3teams vs 3teams.
Maps with 'capture the spawn point' thing would also be good. (Battlefield 1942/2)
