New Kind of Arena
Okay, I am NOT a PvPer so don't kill me if this is already in the works or suggested to death because I wouldn't even know how to look this up.
You enter the arena with your armor. All rune enhancements intact. You LOSE your skill build and your weapons upon entering.
You get a RANDOM set of skills in your Primary and Secondary classes and a set of weapons appropriate to your character class. Could be kick ass could be crap.
You get 30 seconds or a minute. Depends how big the team is (smaller time for smaller team, smallest being ONE person, yes I'd love one on one battles with this.) This time would be used to figure out strategy and allow you to figure out what skills you have etc.
FIGHT BEGINS!!!
What do you think?

i guess its ok but is it any of the skills u have or just random skills from your proffesion that u may or may have not unlocked yet? plus you mean u have to reallocate your attribute points based on what u got? (because im an e/me and i dont want to go in there with all earth and inspiration skills (for example) and have 0 in both attributes)

I would say random skills that you have unlocked. That would still possibly mean reallocating your attribute points. That's why you would get that little bit of time to plan strategy and change things about.

That's a cool idea, but you'd have to shift some things for it to be used. For example, you'd need free attribute refunds while you were fighting, or else very few people would do it-- having to reallocate so many times, especially if you were doing the arena many times in a row, wouldn't be desirable, or even possible. Plus, what about elites?

Although it would be a true testament of how skilled you are at knowing what is good and what isn't, random just... eh, doesn't appeal to me. Bad enough the random arenas sticking 4 warriors against 4 eles.

Yeah you could have free attribute changing during the fight. Or maybe just that first attribute change.
Elites would be part of what you have unlocked. If you have unlocked them they would be part of that random set that could be chosen from. You might get you you might not.

But isn't that what the PvP part is all about strategy and skill. How well you know the skills and how well you can use them. Among the PvP complaints I've seen on here is how bored they get with the same kind of battles and how people exploit the skills that they have.
This way everyone comes in clean and even. Kind of like gladiators, not knowing what weapons they are going to be handed to fight with and have to adapt to the situation at hand.
And no matter what team you have. 4 warriors, 4 eles. They could all get crap skills or crap weapons. It evens the playing field or tilts it to one side. That's the beauty of this thing, you never know what you are going to get going in.

If I got bad skills I'd just leave and try again. I'm sure I'm not the only one.
Oh wait, the skills would always be bad, so no one would bother trying it in the first place.

GW is about team builds. Random Arena is very random and you can easily see a balanced team can win 10-20 in a row without problems where as good players within an awful build (for example: 4 me) won't win much.
If the skills were random - you will win or loose just on the skills you have and what your enemy got. You personal skill doesn't matter then. If you got no self heal and up against a warrior with some healing abilities - how can you survive? If you got no healing and anti-warrior skills every warrior with self heal will rape you - no matter how good you are at PvP and how bad he is.
It will be pure gambling.

Then don't try it. If you left because you didn't like your build, you would get a loss.

True, but so many people are complaining about exploits and how boring things are. This would be a truly exciting way to spice things up. Perhaps there are ways to even things out. Like everyone definitely gets one healing type skill etc.
As for game builds. This is a way to make game builds completely irrelevant and make the knowledge of the game skills and attributes important. If you don't know your character and their skills then you aren't going to do well in this arena. You aren't going to formulate a strategy with your team easily if you don't know the full range of skills that you might get in this arena.
People love to take chances, to gamble. This is a great way to do that, spice up the game, make things more even in PvP (game build wise.)
