Secondary Profession Switch and Skill Acquisition - Improvement
I recently switched my secondary profession on my main character, formerly a Necro/Warrior, now a Necro/Mesmer. Getting around to check out the skill vendors wasn't a problem, and buying them wasn't terribly taxing, either, simply because I was only looking for Mesmer Domination skills.
But when I wanted to get Blackout, I didn't want to have to use yet another skill point, even though I had quite a few stored up, as I acquire skills by doing quests throughout the game, and save those skill points for SoCs.
I checked what quest Blackout was a reward for, and lo and behold, I'd already completed it as a Necro/Warrior, so I would have had to buy it.
My suggestion is this:
If (and when) we switch our secondary professions, allow us to accept all of those quests again, but with a few alterations.
1: We don't get exp.
2: We don't get any special items.
3: We don't have to actually complete the quest again.
I'd like to see #3 there because since we've already completed the quest previously, I see no reason why we'd have to complete it again.
So, something as simple as we change our secondary, go to say, Yak's Bend. Osric would again have an exclamation point above his head, but since there's already a record of us having done the quest, he'd just give us the new secondary skills he would have offered us before, had we...you get the idea.
Thoughts? Seems like this would help smooth the unlocking process for a lot of people.

No, you misunderstand. I have no problem popping in to skill vendors and quest NPCs. With the entire map, and all the outposts unlocked, I can zip anywhere relatively quickly, so it's not even going through the game again. It's literally point-and-click, zip zap skill. After playing the game through one time, you'd get to know where most of the vendors and quests are/were, so all you'd need to do is just pop in.
All I'm suggesting is re-activate the quest NPCs when we change the secondary. That's all. I use skill points for the SoC, and quests to acquire the skills. And I'd think any smart person would do that, too.

Wow... all the skills and none of the work! What a great idea! [/sarcasm]
Seriously.. you want to be able to go back to all the old quest holders and just "pick-up" those skills? Come on.. that's not even close to being realistic. That would make gaining those skill points almost entirely irrelevant. The idea is to get you to play through parts of the game to unlock those skills... possibly as a new character. Part of this is due to the fact that unlocking skills is also linked to PvP.
ANet has gone to great lengths to create a game where PvE and PvP are as closely linked as possible... your suggestion would throw that out the window on your first time through PvE... you'd only even need to create ONE PvE guy, and could have 3 PvP guys then... eventually there would be no point to the PvE side.
