International PvE Temple of Ages
Not what it looks like.
I've been thinking about the problems that europe has been having as of late and it got me thinking. The reason Alot of people are leaving Europe is not just because of the lag (Which I've heard is horrendous) but because their region rarely has favor and thus they are missing out of alot of game content.
What I thought would be a great Idea would be an area similar to the temple of ages (Ie pay to get in, tough as nails, nice rewards) but with a catch. It could only be accesable VIA the international district and can only be accesed if each team has at least one member from every region.
I'm not sure on what details this dungeon could have but the point is that I bleive the regions need a little bit of co-operation instead of being at each others throats all the time. Somethimes I think Guild Wars might lead to WW3 with the tension between nations!
A few ideas though, rather then just a simple dengeon wouldn't it be great to throw 3 parties from each region into a PvE area and make them work together? Maybe at first putting them in differnt loactions, randevousing and then trying to move onto the UBER areas?
I do realise the problems that can arise from such a setup but surley it would be worth it. I'm all for competative play but the gulf between regions is so wide it scares me.
Any further Ideas/Suggestions?
Update: Please have a look at the GUI for skillsets thread. Should this idea be implimented the language barrier would be alot less of a problem.
Update: I can't belive nobody pointed this out yet. Rather then needing players from all regions entry should require at least 3 players from the two regions that currently DON'T have favor.

Must go with ur suggestions. I am an American and I play as one, naturally. Europe NEVER gets favor, I've noticed that. It doesn't affect MY game play but I think they should have more favor and more FoW/UW.

Nice idea but....
What about the language barrier? There can be players speaking english, spanish, german, korean, french, italian. How do you expect that to work if one or more of them don't have a common language? I'm french, but my english is not too bad, but many other french players don't speak a word of english.

The calling system is translated reguardless what language it is heard in. The language barrier is one of the major reasons that people are leaving the Europeon server. I only way to overcome this problem is to force people to try and adapt. An earlier post I made about announcing your skill bar would help immensly in getting over this.

A very time consuming thing I find while in the tombs and working out our groups skill is typing out the skill bar. You can read them out with TS or Vent but it can be hard to hear and you can scroll up to check it later.
Could we please have a command to annouce our current skilbar to the team or at least allow us to Cntrl-Click our skills in town just to annouce them?
Updated: In breif it's a post suggestiong a zone that requires at least one person from each region to enter. Obviously one of the major problems with this is the language barrier. Announcing the skillbar could be a great way to help this problem.
Example. You have a German player in you group you can't understand. He annoucnes his skilbar. You like the looks of it but you want to suggest that he trades that Rebirth for a Resserection Signet.
If there were a way to Re-Annouce the skillbar back at him with the Ressuerection Signet in place of Rebirth it would help with the language barrier (Not much i'll agree but it's a start.)
Maybe a Suggest Function in which you get a glossary with ALL of the Guild Wars skills in it (No descriptions, Just names and icons) and A tempory skill bar you can drap and drop them into.
Example:
You type /suggest.
A new window comes up. You choose War/Monk for the class combination.
You drag and drop the skills from the list into the skill bar.
You choose the players name from your party list. (Since you might not have the symbols on your keyboard.)
The message is displayed to the team "Fritz Monkblitzer, How about <Insesrt first 7 skills here> Rebirth?"
Fritz could then agree or disagree or maybe suggest another alternative.
Sorry to expand on the post like this but it's hard to suggest a new function that would work best with a function that doesn't exist yet.

I've expanded on this suggestion to help overcome this problem. Thanks for the input Pandanslesdents. Seeing problems before they arise is always a help.
I agree that it makes comunacation limited but it's a start and this sort of thing the Europeons have to deal with every day.
The other option would be to have 1 group from each district in a PvE map working together under certian conditions. Such as suggestion made earlier in a previous post. The teams would have to control certain points on the map, complete certian objectives. Updates on what is happening will be annouced to the teams and they'd have to try to work together acordingly.
Any feedback is encouraged.

In reguard to the language barrier problem. There is a great suggestion at the moment for a GUI for skillsets.
If this was implimented (And I'm sure it will be) the language barrier would be alot less of a problem.

Pro's:
- Encourages cultural exchange
- Gives chance to those that normally don't get the chance
Con's:
- Chances are, you've never met 80% of your team before, and so teamwork might not be so fluid.
- Language barrier. Even if the GUI skillset is implemented, it's inevitable for the group to run into language problems.
- Timezone offset. What if you play at such a time when most of the euroes are asleep, and you have to spend 6 hours spamming LFM EURO WILL PAY GOLD just to find one?
- Lag issues. Three different regions of the world playing in one instance? Sounds like a surefire way to lag up.
Even if the con's outweigh the pro's numerically, I think this is a worthy idea because it offers a solution to the Europe not getting favor problem.

Thanks for the input mithe. On the issue of the lag though. It happens all the time. We're fighting people (Somtimes 7 other groups) from differnt regions in the Tombs all the time. The lag is tolorable there. Shouldn't it be the same in this instance?
Timezone is a problem. However I've never had any trouble finding a tombs group at any time. However I had trouble on some PvE missions. If the poeple who do play on off peak times know there's a place they are wanted surely they'll be around.
Language Barrier is a problem. Yes. However imagine poor Europe who have to deal with this all the time. The main reason i suggested this idea was to help solve Europes favor problem.
The Other was to try and give the regions a reason to stop hating one another.

To raise your rank, you need to PvP. Lots of people have absolutely NO interest in PvP. They are PvE exclusively.

Interesting Idea frost. Though Pandanslesdents is right when he brings up the problem of it forcing PvEers to PvP. Though at present if you want to help your region to gain favor you do have to PvP...

On the rank 3+ issue: Hang on - so you want me to have my Hydromancer have to play around in the Hall of Heroes forever to get into the UW/FoW? Oh wait, thats right. Nature's Renewal. Oh crap, I'm more screwed the europe is now on getting into it.
As for the International TOA? I love the idea.
