Another price reset.
Ok Anet, obviously one of you didnt have the brains to see how many people would go nuts over the low low prices >.O
MANY of us who were not on at the time got super screwed.
Yes I know MANY people have said this but it has to be said AGAIN.
You know whats going to happen a.net, the people that were on at the time and completely bought out the market are going to be the millionares of the game.
They will achieve in just maybe over an hour or so what i still havent achieved in about 2 months now.
Your just creating another big wad of rich people, prices are already rising again and they'll just sell for at least 200% profit... AT LEAST!!!!!!!
So my suggestion... DONT MAKE PRICE RESETS IMPROMPTU!
Make another price reset, BUT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD TELL US WHEN IT IS IN ADVANCE!

Hey man resets happen all the time, altho it would be nice to know ahead of time, even if we were told ahead of time not eveyone who plays could get in to take advantage of it, sometimes your lucky sometimes your not, and if we were told and eveyone could take advantage of it how poor would the economy be then? noone would be able to sell anything, or maybe even need to buy anything?
Now would you NOOBS STFU? SEE I WIN!!!
LMAO j/k

No. What Anet needs is to go totally communist. Add up all the gold from every player in the game and divide it among every player. Then make everything cost zero gold.

Simply put, people achieved more in 5 minutes than I have in hundreds of hours.
Why didn't they just reset the prices to a normal amount instead of 100 gold for everything?

Or better yet, increase drop rate/drop quality so the market balance gets shifted?

It is annoying to have taken last night off, as has been said, I could have bought enough to make more profit in a few minutes than in 400 hours of play. At the minimum I could have gotten all the superior runes I wanted, and the materials to make some fun armour. Maybe it's whining, but with a bit of a reason - it's like holding a lottery - whoever was on essentially got a huge bonus cash injection, based on how much they already had, since it could only be taken advantage of by those with lots to spend. The rich get richer indeed...

...but they dont. Unlike in life, there is a maximum amount of wealth one can obtain in Guild Wars (1400 plat per account). Once you've gotten there (or even close, really), you must start *giving* things away or just *junking* them.
While the improptu reset may have made some people instantly more wealthy than others, in the long run it doesn't affect anyone at all. Ecto will keep dropping in the game. Runes will keep dropping in the game. Gold will keep dropping in the game. This makes the supply virtually infinite versus a demand that is finite within a closed system (1400 plat ceiling). As the economy extends across time, prices will approach zero. It is not inflation we must worry about in GW, it is deflation.
This was a good fix. Thanks ANET,

This doesn't really mean anything - the amount of gold in game continues to rise - that causes inflation, as the gold is not used up really, yet the items are. Since the rate at which gold leaves the economy has been lowered (the main way it was leaving was the discrepancy between buying and selling prices at merchants, they've apparently reduce the difference, hence gold leaves slower) there will be inflation. This is because dyes get used, armour gets destroyed/salvage for less than it was made for and so on - but gold sticks around pretty well, it's the materials and so on that are being used up - and if used at a high enough rate (or they are sold and not purchased bak, or the items sell to a merchant rather than a trader) they will no doubt increase once again in value.
Is there a cap on inflation? Yes, 1400 platinum. Nothing can cost more than 1400 platinum, right? Oh wait - it can. Simply take some item (ruby?) and assign it a value of 5000 platinum. After all, that's what happened in D2 - the SoJ became the unit of currency - because gold got so devalued it didn't matter. Nobody cared about gold, you couldn't buy a Shako with any amount of gold. 1400 platinum? Might well be meaningless eventually - now, duping and botting are what allowed it to happen so easily in D2, but I imagine it could happen here too. Eventually transactions could be in terms of some items that fall rarely, and of that item entirely. The item doesn't even need to be useful, merely accepted as currency at which point it IS currency. Hell, nobody can wear 28 SoJs, but that didn't stop them from having them.
I hate to say it, but I think you are wrong - inflation will happen unless something is done to prevent it - fix prices, make the supply not rely on the drops or people can manipulate the economy. The SoJ was the dumbest thing to ever happen, yet even though nobody wanted the SoJs themselves, you would trade for a bunch of SoJs, because it was accepted that those SoJs could be used to trade for what you wanted. In this game Rubies or Sapphires would suffice, as it would have to be an item that was invariable in property or it would vary in value, and it would have to be rare enough that its value was apparent from its rarity.

Well maybe not a price reset, but what about the traders being RESTOCKED!
this is what happens in the real market, the traders get their ware from manufacturers, etc. Then WE the consumer buy it from them.
What A.net has is the traders have their wares and we buy them.. BUT there is no manufacturer to keep giving the trader more items to sell... instead the trader is DEPENDENT on us players to sell our stuff back to them... we are basically the manufacturers =\ but crappy ones we are.

Yawn! I think if I have to listen to this whining, complaining drivel any more..... For the love of god, it's just a game! If you weren't there for the price reset, RELAX! It will happen again. If people like this would stop thier bitching for just one second and think about it they would realize that Anet does things like this for a reason. Anyone ever think that it might, just might have something to do with the next big update? On that note, hey does anyone wanna buy any of the 500,000 sup monk and sup absorb and sup vigors I bought? (j/k it's a game remember?)

WRONG
consider the following in addition to the 1400 platnum
EACH of your 4 characters are loaded down with 45 slots of 250 each slot with a veriety of items including
ectoplasm
shards
rubies
saphires
black ink
other high value stacking rare materials
we are talking a potential of 200 slots with each holding 250 rare material
in addition to the tiny 1400 platnum
at only 5k average that is 250 MILLION PLAT
and there was a screenshot of a filled inventory so it did happen

Yeah, sigh. I sort of feel this way myself. It's a good thing for the economy of the game, but I'm frustrated and sort of sick of ecto being completely sold out, all the time.
Especially when people bought loads of it for like 1k. Oh well.
I don't think they should reset prices again though. That would just cause mayhem again... and I don't really want that.

At least I would like to see an apology from Anet, they really made a mistake on how they pulled this off, turned some into multimillionaires in a few minutes and the rest of us are still stuck with the high prices the next day we come on x.x.
Anet, you screwed up, this could have been done better and you know it, it was almost as if you put no thought and just said "lets just go cold turkey" And it would be nice to have you fess up to your execution of this idea.
How are the rest of us going to catch up to these new quadrillionaires?
A: WE WONT CAUSE F'ED UP!
