Upgrade Vendor
I don't know if this has been said before and I'm illiterate to using the search button, but I think it would be nice to be able to buy and sell weapon upgrades to and from the vendor.
Make it just like the rune vendor or the dye trader except you can buy upgrades from it.
Who wants to scoure for that 5/1 vamperic hammer upgrade in Lion's Arch or sell that 2/1 vamperic sword upgrade to the merchant for only 20 gold?
Something I've always wondered, though: Why is it that better runes have bigger penalties yet weapon upgrades are profoundly better than the first?
I'll usually equip a minor over a superior any day, but why should a person who spent more time trying to unlock that 6(or 5 whatever)/1 vamperic axe beat that little newbie with the 1/1?

I've been hoping for this ever since the rune trader was implimented. Mostly because I'm impatient and don't want to deal with wading through trade spam for the 1 person out there who is content with a decent profit. :P

the initial version of this that was discussed was on the weapons crafter to do more then just customize the weapon, but also be able to add upgrades to the weapons you customize. this being able to buy whatever prefix suffix upgrades you want from NPC for any of your customized weapons... Making the Weapons Crafter and actual Crafter / blacksmith. This concept was well received on a few forums from the developers, and we may eventually see a version of this show up in game. but last I heard it was not in the near future. Arenanet is however concerned that the weapon upgrades are being abused by botters the same way runes and rare materials were and to a point still are... but the traders helped that to a certain point...

neh, i think its stupid IMO, soon enough your not going to be able to FIND things just buy them, its adds excitement to the game when u salvage a cool upgrade, shows you adventure around instead of farming and going to a lame ass vendor

What if the weapons crafter is only able to upgrade your weps with stuff you 'unlocked' during play. So if I found a Fiery Hilt but either sold it or got some planks from a salvage.... I can still get one from the crafter, but for a hefty price.

Yea that was my original idea for the rune trader as well. you would be able to buy runes that you unlocked any time you wanted to. I wanted the same for the weapons crafter but Anet didn't seem interested. However. they were interested in making the purchased upgrades only for customized weapons to prevent people from being able to craft and resell them. the idea is for Your use and to rid the market of more inflators charging 200K+ for these things. Sure you can salvage the customized weapon but its the same chance of losing the upgrade as any salvage. and no one but you can use it cause its customized for your character. so that's pretty fair in the end...
I still wish my original concept would be picked up for both though. Buying unlocked items only from the NPCs... Oh well...

Good idea, as long as the prices for buy and sell actually reflect the price that it is worth.
2 thumbs up!

Yeah plus it would keep me from saving all these hilts. hafts, staff wrappings and things in my storage, thus making room for other types of stuff like my sword collection. Oh well is right.
