Oh... funny little thread this is... yes, yes. Indeed.
I took the time to read your post. I do agree on the topic of it. The game has some serious flaws in it, but i mostly don't agree on your point of view on which those flaws are.
Many a two posts have been there to take your post and divide it into small pieces, then tearing them apart into even more small pieces of destroyed papers, twisted words and the like.

So, i can just skip on that and stuff.
And come to my opinion about this.

I'm a calm player most of the time, playing a mesmer as a primary character for the PVE Content and having a Monk for the PVP Action. The people that really ruin this game are not those immature people who draw on the minimap. It is neither the freaks who get their char pulled towards Droknars Forge so they can rule 1-10 Arena in Ascalon. It's not even the occasional ****y monk or lemming warrior (as i like to call those rush into death warriors ).
What is ruining this game are the people complaining about it. Oh yes, that is right. As a calm player, i don't really care if that warrior dies in the bottemless pit of evil PvP Spam. I don't care about those coments on being a "lazy" mesmer getting pulled through the missions as i am "worthless scum" in PvE and should be grateful "getting invited into a group of pro players who want to show a mesmer noob how to play".

Ah right, repeating myself again. The complainers. Your team died in the arena? Whine around. Someone makes a sarcastic comment on runners? Flame him to death and complain about morons ruining this game. A bored person starts painting on the minimap? Flame him to death. Some person is harassing you for selling a thing expensive? Oh thats right.. flame him to death and that complain some more.
It is just this whiny attitude that is ruining this and any other online game. Except for guildwars being the first game to sort out those morons the hard way by drastically forcing them to learn teamplay... or be stuck in a mission.
And trust me in one thing, the further you venture in this game. The less whiners will be around. Less people will leave and less people will flame you. I had the worst groups around Ascalon. They got better a bit in northern shiverpeaks with reaching a drop in Kryta. The jungle missions actually forced the players to work as a team and to learn pulling mobs.
Yet, some of the morons managed to get past that as you don't need a well attuned team to complete these missions yet.

But the further you get in this game...
Less leavers, less lemming warriors, less ****y monks.

And about those ultrahard ascension missions...
They are they for some reason. The PvE is about having fun, but not only having fun. In fact it is some kind of education in Teamplay, Positioning, Team Composition and Trust in your Team. Lack any of these, and refuse to learn them in those Ascension Missions... you will just be awfully screwed in those southern shiverpeak missions or that volcano area.
And as the game progesses, it seems that people start to learn that whining is not winning the game for them. If they don't... they sign up on one of these forums and post huge threads about the Developers cheating on them... about Guildwars being a Grind Game and blah blah blah... and on ...and on... and on...

What did you except actually?
Logging in and immediately rule out the hell out of the world? Cutting through the monsters like the glowing burning hot knive you are? Hitting PvP and stomping every other team into the ground without any chance?

No.
There is grind in Guildwars. And it can be frustrating grind. The grind is not about leveling... oh geez, that is sooooo slow.. you can even start with level 20 right away. Uhm.. yeah. The grind is not about item and money farming. Geez, honestly.. i played the game without any bit of farming until lately (after i finished the game) and i always had the best armor i could have and still see a nice portion of money in the storage.
But what the grind about this game is...
it FORCES you to learn your role. It FORCES you to adapt into being a major teammate instead of being the "Ultrarul0r". It FORCES you to learn that you can't survive without teamplay, you can't survive without tactics. And ultimately hitting Tombs and the Hall of Heroes...
You learn your lession in accepting a defeat.

Either you learn it, and adapt... or you leave. And trust me, not learning these things will make you leave due to the "grind".

so far with regards,
the player behind that mesmer around the corner.
(currently whining about whiners on a random post in the guildwarsguru boards)

yeah...Feli makes some valid points. Its really easy to ignor penis drawings or people that overprice items or whatever. Its with people that cant deal with mistakes or harmless silliness or when people get very impatent thats often the cause of...most of my grief. It does pan out as you progress, not completely, but it does.

Losing is a part of this game. The people that can imbrace that concept are often the best people Ive teamed with. Cuz we learn from our loses and get better and become winners in the end.

If someone started cussing me out for drawing a penis on the minimap I'd be an asshole to them to.

Based on the fact that this guy IMed me to cuss me out because I disagreed with him shows me that he has absolutely no self control.

They aren't the ones being assholes, he is.

This is the kind of person who breaks out in tears when he fails a mission I can tell.

Then he comes on here to spam about how the missions are too hard and people are mean to him.

Oh no!

Then he randomly insults people who played d2, a great game, for 4 years?

I've had 2 maybe 3 problems with people, it's not them it's you.

If you have people doing this to you everyday maybe you should just stop chatting, I bet if you went a whole day without typing none of this would happen to you.

You bring it upon yourself by being an asshole, change, get over it, or my favorite LEAVE.

I can assure you that many of us voice chatters do not ignore knowingly. In my guild it happens just because we do not notice the chat being said because most of the time we ignore the chat because of the raging immaturity that it active in it. Other times it scrolls by so quickly that we missed it during a blink. For me I think the problem is that there is no alert or sound to inform of a guildchat message or for that matter a private message because mostly I'm focused anywhere but the chat window.

'nuff said.

He actually started threatening me after that saying "the damage has been done". Mildly amusing.
Um that's not me? What are you trying to do here? I don't even use aim lol.

Oh no! A few idiots are drawing penises on the map! THE GAME IS OVER NO POINT IN PLAYING WITH THE PENIS ON THE MAP!

It's people like you that cause them to do it, why you might ask? They are just looking for attention. When they draw a penis and you yell at them not to they're going to do it more. They ARE children and you can't stop it by posting some rant on a forum.

That made me chuckle...

See ya.

PS: D2 Owned.
My only problem with the children drawing penises on the map is that they draw them so BADLY. I mean they are scary looking. Some young person might see those drawings and get frightened of penises forever more, thinking they are such weird looking things.

Well, okay, penises are kind of weird-looking in real life. But not THAT weird!

Um, I don't see what your problem is here buddy. I don't understand what you are doing. You posted an AIM chatlog, saying that I IMed you. I do not use AIM, I use MSN messenger ([email protected]) and XFIRE (garric). I also wouldn't make a name "jackothecracko". I find it funny that this IM chat is also in perfect grammar (usually people don't bother.), and that the writing styles are similar. And now you make another post againt trying to make fun of me. Are you trying to frame me or something? Is it because I critizied Guild Wars? I am only trying to state my opinion, if you don't like that, you can leave my thread. I understand that you may like this game, but it does have faults in it, and to deny that is just blind devotion.

From all points made... I only agree with the importance of the monks.

Making it impossible to have a good group without a monk is just plain wrong, you need a monk, in PvP and in PvE. The missions should be playablewithout a monk, but they arent. The focus on this healing class is way too high, Everey party is dependand on a monk.

Everyone who claims this is not the case... I'll refrain from statements like that, but I just cant help wondering how you do in the last ~5 missions in the game or PvP without Monks.

i love being a monk and healing people. If someone dies i promtly state " Sorry i couldnt keep you healed enough " doesnt matter if it was their fault or not.

as far as your other flaws , show me one game that doesnt have them

The fact remains that I recieved that IM and I have no reason to believe it wasn't from you except for you saying so.

I'm sure I went out of my way to type up a whole conversation with timestamps and everything. If I had made it up I would have been way more creative.

What can I say, reading this all makes me wonder who the immature people in the community really are. Yes, I agree the dependance for good monks is pretty brutal, and it can be rediculous trying to get a decent party if you can't afford to pay a monk, so cry about it or move on, MAKE YOUR OWN MONK, thats what I did.

Guild halls seem expensive if you havn't played through the game, if you didn't gamble all your money at casinos, you and a few friends can afford one, 5 of us threw together 70k without a second thought. You need 8 to compete anyways.

If a game isn't hard, its not worth playing, go play City of Heroes if you want a game you don't have to think about. Great game, not a lot of thinking involved. This game isn't for everyone, if you don't like it, don't bitch, just uninstall and save everyone the time.

And to the guy who posted the IM, what a waste of time, it wasn't even his name. I mean, what the hell were you thinking? The typing styles aren't even the same.

The whole conversation seems like it was written by one person. The grammar in the conversation between the 2 people seems identical. Also, "I am Garric. From GWGuru, you posted in my thread." is also suspicious as if you are trying to make them believe that it was really me.

So I'm smart enough to throw in 2 afk periods while 1 of us was doing something but not smart enough to mess with the typing styles?

Hey here is a thought, look at my typing. It's good, yes?

Look at yours, it's good as well.

HMM, same person, or me and you.

If you didn't do it, say you didn't do it and be done, don't try to claim I made it up though.

EDIT: typo

I myself COMPLETELY agree with the comunity part...

Monks, are a so-so kind of topic... sometimes during the day there's TONS of them... and then other times there are NONE of them... anywhere!

And the difficulty of the ascending part is ON PURPOSE, they dont want some sissy game where any new player can just breeze through it... they actually want you to get better, because of this... most guild vs guild, and tournament battles will become ALOT more in depth with stradegy...

The guild problem... lol... i agree, JUST for now... the sigils will go down to about 5k guarentee'd once almost all guilds have one... and then, they will be available at sigil traders again... My guild has FOUR, yes FOUR active members, the rest... working, heh... so im just gonna wait for a sigil... no point in a guild hall if we dont have enough for a guild battle... lol...

Oh yea... and is the community really so bad that you're going to quit, i mean... if you have an open mind about it... you might actually find that the expansion pack adds something that you may have TONS of fun with... try to be a little mroe open minded, and great things will come to you. ^.^

Anet listens... if you have some sort of complaint about something that even remotely goes against the terms of agreement (If you're not sure) report them anyways... seriously... If they dont get a warning and just get banned... then in my mind, they diserve it... because all those sort of kids are doing are making guild wars a crappy game (And anet wouldnt want that, now would they?)... and there wont be any problem with banning these kids because they arent paying a monthly fee, and they were suppose to read the terms of agreement

The reasoning for the horrible community is the no monthly fee... all parents go HECK YEA, and anet goes HECK YEA... they make the money off all these people anyhow... but yea, alot more of the younger ones that are immature are going to be able to get a game where there's no monthly fee... but sooner or later, most will get banned for doing something stupid, and the community will settle down... What i'm trying to say is... you're not paying monthly... if you really have to, just quit the game for a while, and come back when you think the community might be better...

I really wish you would stop saying I made this up.

The fact that you fight it so much when I said I was willing to accept that it wasn't you just makes me think it was you even more.

I don't care how many times you say you don't use aim.

I'm Jesus!
I'm Jesus!
I'm Jesus!

I said it 3 times, now it's true!

Anyone need some miracles?!

Your entire logic is flawed because there would be no reason for me to make up a conversation to "try to get you in trouble".

I'm somewhat tired of people complaining about GRIND. A game without GRIND of some sort would be a game that consists of nothing more than Cut and Paste.

I agree with you that the community has some major jerks, which I see in every game. And yes I am tired of people drawing a Penis on the map.
I personally think we should have a way to Report Map Abuse. Atleast be able to report map pictures such as: Reproductive Organs, Abusive language/abbreviations (ie FU)

Monks... Definetly would like other support characters in the expansion, cause right now Very Few people play monks, yet everyone needs one... people even offer to pay for a monk to join a group

As for the Crystal Desert... It's just so darn hard... It's harder than the Fire Chain Islands... (Minus the Mursaat Spectral Agony Spell)
