Prestige Classes
We keep getting complaints about the level cap, and people want more ascended content... and I had an idea that might solve both problems a little while ago. It's still very, very rough, so please do not flame it needlessly. Constructive critisism only.
Prestige Classes
Basically, your primary class and secondary class are not shown once you reach level 20. Instead, once you reach level 20 (AND ASCEND), you're displayed as a generic title for your primary+secondary combination. This new prestige class you can level up even more, and gain access to new spells.
While you can still be a Monk/Warrior healer with some defensive stances... your "Judge" will gain access to smite spells powered by smiting prayers & divine favour.
Your Ranger/Ele can still be a trapper with Glyph of Concentration to keep from getting interrupted, but the "Druid" will gain access to powerful Earth-related spells.
Your Ranger/Mesmer would still be a DOT machine and get the nifty name of "Vagabond".
You get the picture.
By the way, it would also display your combo level starting at 0, so you'd be "Druid" until you gain a level and become "Druid1" (or Ranger/Ele21).
And, of course, you can change your secondary profession in the desert... becoming something else entirely if you do (though you can still change back, of course).

The prestige names wouldn't work, simply because there are too many possibilities of what someone could do, even for a given class combination. For example, I have an R/E, except I use water magic for snaring, and I have 0 earth and 0 wilderness survival.

I understand that part, but I think it would add a good deal. 'Ravager 10' looks much better than 'W/N 30'

you'll never see a W/N 30 .... and prestige classes is for d&d play. I like new classes ... but leave prestige outta guildwars.
and pardon ... for the constructive part ... you can swap your secondary numerous times ... this would change your 'prestige' name every time?? also here come the flames when a non-prestige asks a question ...

Absolutely, you become something different when you switch your secondary.

Pardon? Please say what you mean instead of trying to make it sound witty...

Actually something similiar to this was suggested in a previous thread.
In that thread the "title" was linked to to primary class and had to do with the major skill attribute choosen.
For example: If you are a Necro, and you put more points into Blood than the others, your title would be "Vampire" (just an example). A Water Mage could actually have the title of "Hydromancer". This would be as a replacement for E/* 20 in your bar.
Honestly, if we are talking about titles for professions, secondaries shouldn't matter as much, because if you are a certain primary, you really should be focusing on skills for THAT class more than your secondary. The titles they might add really should reflect that.

I don't like the New Levels, I think the cap on 20 is one of GWs greatest selling points.
However, giving Ascended characters new "Titles" and "Skins" is fine by me! In fact, I recommend it. It's the kind of customization that will keep people wanting to play.
Hell, after Ascension people should be able to call themselves whatever they want! (Of course, it could be tedious telling everyone that a "Kickasser" is a W/R combo. )
[EDIT] I like emil knight's suggestion, better. That way people who are in the know will recognize a "Vampire" when they see one. I still think it'd be cool for "Vampires" to look different than standard Necros, though! [EDIT]
I guess the real discussion should be about the access to more spells. How will that affect game balance? Will the attribute ceiling be enough to curb uber-combos that are unbeatable?
