Picking up Drops
I would like to see a "pick up closest item" hotkey just like the "target closest"
This would make picking up drops a lot easier.
I think this would go over very well with alot of players.

i have read a thread on this elsewhere on the forum. the general answer was that it would make botting even easier and so should not be implemented. besides clicking on the drops is not all that hard is it? do you really need to get the computer to do it for you?
i want more control over my char than that. i might find myself wandering off in the wrong direction or into a mosters aggro. manually is easier to control and safer. IMO

I find picking up drops quite a chore sometimes, spinning around looking for the next one. Im totally against bots 100% and dont know how a bot is supposed to salvage items or just pick things up. The whole bot thing, i dont understand. I think they could do something to trap bots and ban the accounts.
Anyway picking up drops for humans can be a chore at times and i still think we could get a "pick-up closest drop" command for the real players. Im sure they arent too far off from destroying bots completely. This is Guild Wars...there is a counter for everything, isnt there ?
OK.. how about a "Target Drop " command that would spin you in the direction to the nearest drop, but not pick it up. Then you could click on it to pick it up ?

This shortkey used to exist in early alpha. It has been removed because bots were very easy to set up (ANet specifically asked alphas to design bots to see if they were detectable). Basically the shortkey made 'blind' bots a viable option (enter area, follow predefined+randomized path, use skills X/Y/Z, hit pick up loot N times, rinse & repeat). Without such a shortkey, grabbing loot with a bot requires more programming skill (often relying on pixel analysis), and it's easier to detect.

Well couldnt A-net write a program that could detect bots..and blow up their motherboard ? That might cut down on botting.
