Like the attributes sorting better, but an option to save template would be better.

I dont understand..
What your saying is that not only are you NOT picking your skills based on their attributes , but your doing this ALL THE TIME ????
So much so in fact, that you feel this SIMPLE little change is, in YOUR opinion "the WORST thing about the new patch"
Either your a n00b and your character is a tramp on the battle field or your just being silly and crave attention.
|
sounds like you are the one craving attention

This was never used on my R/Me but mostly b/c I didn't know about it.
Recently on my Mo/E which I just started, even before the patch, I noticed this option and it definitely is helpful in this case. Those eles have skills all over the place and different lines are hard to tell apart.
Not that big a change but as others have said, remembering preference is a small box like remembering 1 item in inventory so I don't see why they don't do that to satisfy everyone.

i don't need my skills broken up to into cutesy-little arbitrary "attribute groups" in order to find them and put them in my skillbar. i can put them in my skillbar much faster if they are alphabetized in one big group. they'd still only be skills that i am specced to use. it's much faster and more efficient for me to do it this way. as you can see, that would illustrate that i'm not a n00b
|
I agree completely with this. I don't need a cutsey auto-organization. I know what each skills does and what attribute it uses by memory. I wish it would remember the last sorting option and use that.

I prefer the new way as well, even if you know exactly where skills are, if you're spec'ed to attribute X that means to take out skills for attribute X will be a swifter process once you get used to the new process, since there will be less scrolling involved.
But what I'd really like to see is some form of build memorization. The (awesome) end to attribute refunds means people are free to adjust their build to meet the circumstances at the drop of a hat, and most people have a couple of standard configurations they use for their characters, or at least vary on. Being able to change back to such a configuration instantly instead of having to manually reset all the attributes and skills would be great.
Same for PvP character creation, being able to store builds and the ability to select them like you can currently select the premade templates would be awesome.

erm....
some of you are obviously missing the point..
is this REALLY the WORST thing in the update?
grow up!.... maybe you have the spare time on your hands to play so often that you have memorised every single skill in alphabetical order.. but 90% of the guild wars gamers dont.. and they learn skills the easy way...
so this is such a huge help for people already playing, and I can see it being a Huge help for new people to guild wars (who may dont yet understand attributes)..
So if this simple little change helps SO many people.... I ask again.
is it really the WORST part of the new update... and you know this after just over 10 hours since its release?
anyone who makes this kind of determination after 10 hours is definatly n00b at something.

to me, it is. yes. really. and to a few other people too have have shared my concern in this thread. and to legions of countless other players who do not know this thread exists yet are thinking the exact same thing at this very moment; they too hate this new change.
of course it's noticeable after only hours of release. if you are a right-handed person who was writing a letter and then were suddenly forced to finish writing the letter with your left hand, you most definitely would notice that change right away and it would be a huge deal to you. it's the same thing here. exact same principle at work.
the people who do not share your agony may not think it's a big deal, but that's not the point. the point is that the agony is unfair and unnecessary. hence, should be fixed.

I love the new way, I always used attribute and had to click each and every time.
Like it or not, just by looking at this thread you can see that the vast majority of posters use the selection by attributes, therefore it is only just that this is the default setting now. A "remember last option" would be the best solution though for sure.

I'm sure you can do better than that.
This topic of this thread is very specific and it shouldn't be in the Riverside Inn. Like all suggestions to ANet, it belongs to the Sardelac Sanitarium forum. I am therefore moving this thread and renaming it to be clearer.

Well, I for one find this change a great help, I'm always switching to attribute layout.
However, I realise the pain of others that have gotten acustomed to the old layout.
The easy option would be for the game to remember the last used setting. That would keep everybody happy.
But wait!, I have a more radical ideas:
Why not have a new layout option of "useage" this would group the skills into two categories of "used" and "unused". Then you could create a custom selection of skills to be displayed in the first set, the skills you swap in and out on a regular basis.
Second idea:
Skill "sets" which you could "load" into your skillbar.
So, for example, I'd have a set called "frost" that would have a selection of water skills , and another called "fire" with ... you get the idea ... and you can select the set in town and "bing" your set would be slotted down onto the skillbar.

must disagree with your use of the word "just". even if majority of the players prefer the new way, there is nothing just about taking their old problem away from them and instead of solving the problem, passing it on to another segment of the playerbase

Hey, most people prefer attribute sorting, a few hate it, you are in the second group. Anet catered to the largest player base (the first group) and so now you have to do what we've been doing for the last few months, click twice and adjust skills. Anet catered to the biggest group which unfortunately wasn't yours.

Just get use to the new way and stop whining! Its just a stupid little habit, and unless you're handicapped, it shoudnt take more than 1/2 secs.
God I feel sorry for ANET, they do things right and they still have to suffer this....
PS: I was SO used to changing to attr. that now I change to "Names" without realizing :S

i love it how it is, and at the moment the worst thing about it is learning that I DON"T have to change the view every SINGLE time.
because really, i sort it by attributes most of the time, and skill type or cost... but never by profession.
