Default setting for skill list

The Skill List now sorts skills by attribute in its default setting.

the old way was just fine
this new setup is driving me up the wall!
i'm guessing there are also many other players who have gotten accustomed to the old layout for many months now, and hence do not appreciate having it abrupty changed on them against their will. it is very disorienting and annoying to have to fish for skills in such an uncomfortable layout.
i realize that you can click the drop-down list to change the layout, however that is insufficient because you have to do that every single time you open the skills window. and it just gets cumulatively more cumbersome and agonizing each and every time
devs; please fix this. either put it back to the old way and leave it at that; kind of like how taking away PVP experience points was a bad idea when faction first came out, so then the PVP experience was put back in, this interface change is another big fubar that should also be changed back. or at the very least, make the layout save the preference of the player so that he doesn't need to click & drag on the drop down list every single time he opens the skill window just to get the skill list to display properly
any one else being driven up the wall by this "interface change"?

People are saying that gold items will drop in value. How so if these green items (which I personally dislike) are only rated at about 5-10k each because of their frequent drops in Sorrow's Furnace. I would still rather get a gold item and be able to put my own mods on it, or just know that i've spent alot of money putting it together.

I also use attributes. It makes much more sense. Since you can ignore certain attributes which you aren't using. This seems a far better way to sort the skills.

Navaros I can't beleive that you would take the time to bitch about something so insignificant as this and as you can see from the other posters, there were apparently alot more people who prefer the system set up the way that it has been changed to which shows that Anet listens to the majority of the players. If this is the worst thing about the new patch then you obviously just felt like whinning about something. Next time you feel this urge please spare us!

ah, but you can't really ignore them because it displaces the skills that you want into all sorts of whacky places where you are not expecting them to be. you have to muddle thru a very disorienting layout to find them.
it's like if you are right-handed, and you try to write your name with your left hand. sure you can do it, but it feels mighty strange!
i realize the people who have always switched to the attributes way would not feel that way, but those who are used to the old way will.
even if the attributes way is "more popular" i do not see that is a justification for the devs to have "reversed the problem" onto those who have gotten accustomed to their original way.
rather than solve the problem outright by saving the preference of each player

Is navaros opinion and i agree. if not change it the old way then change so that it remembers cause is messing me up in getting my skills.

I dont understand..
What your saying is that not only are you NOT picking your skills based on their attributes , but your doing this ALL THE TIME ????
So much so in fact, that you feel this SIMPLE little change is, in YOUR opinion "the WORST thing about the new patch"
Either your a n00b and your character is a tramp on the battle field or your just being silly and crave attention.

well not that i agree with your logic, but let's apply your own logic to the situation at hand
obviously a lot of people have "whinged' at Anet to change the skill list to a way in which they prefer prior to this patch being released. if Anet had not heard a whole lotta whinging to that effect, then they never would have bothered to include this change
from this one can deduce that Anet values "whinging" and wants their players to be happy.
which is all well and good, except for that fact that that whinging is now ending up shafting me - who is also a player - and many other players in the same boat who also happen to share my preference for having the skills listed in the old way
i suppose it is indeed a compliment to Anet that my biggest complaint about this patch is this tortuous change in the skill listing so kudos to you for bringing that up
anyhow it is clear that this thread disturbs you so in order that my whinging does not disturb you any longer i respectfully recommend that you should not read and/or post in it any more this also would apply well to anyone who does not like seeing any posts that portray Guild Wars as being less-than-perfect.
i want this newly-created problem to be fixed. it will never be fixed unless these concerns are voiced.

The only idea out of this thread worth talking about is being able to choose default setting for how you first see your skills. That is a great idea.
BTW, I search my skills by attributes, so this change suits me just fine.

quite the contrary.
i pick only skills that i am currently specced to
i know exactly what those skills are and where they are. at least i did until this arbitrary "re-organization" was forced upon me via the patch
i don't need my skills broken up to into cutesy-little arbitrary "attribute groups" in order to find them and put them in my skillbar. i can put them in my skillbar much faster if they are alphabetized in one big group. they'd still only be skills that i am specced to use. it's much faster and more efficient for me to do it this way. as you can see, that would illustrate that i'm not a n00b

I agree with Navaros... but not completely. I have always sorted by attribute and now that the patch changed it, I no longer need that extra two clicks. Good for me. But from the first time I ever had to manage my skills, I wondered why my sorting preference could not be saved.
While it is stupid to simply demand the old sorting system back, I would also agree that saving the sorting preference would probably increase the ease of managing skills tenfold.

Perfect for me. The only way to improve this very good change would be to memorize the latest setting used by a player.
