Fame and Rank
Why is it that just because you don't belong to a guild that does HoH often you're denied fame and ranks ? I don't understand why one cannot get fame from the other arenas ? My suggestion is that for every 10k faction you gain a rank atleast =/
please think of those without FOTM toons, we don't get HoH groups but we still like to be famous ^^

Um, fame and rank are for HoH alone. While I personally have a minimal amount of fame (30) and 0 rank, I would never like to see these gained for simply grinding away mindlessly in the competition arenas.

Its not about FOTM, it is about your ability to adapt. If you are still advertising only one char with only one particular build, there is almost no chance to get into group.
To stay on topic : I donĀ“t think that buying fame or rank is good thing. Its not. It is similar to real life : can you buy experience ? Can you just pay without practicing and become as experienced as people who trained hard ?

Not true, if you want in a group right now-
advertise that you are a W/R IWAY warrior, instant group.
If you want to sit and get ignored for hours advertise that-
you are looking for a group with a build and can accomidate their build as long as it is not IWAY
Fame is over rated anyway, just like hardcore farmers get millions of gold, fame farmers get all the fame they want 1 at a time. There is no way to prove how good you are at this game without actually playing with someone, anyone who disagrees probably rode on a guild members coat-tails to the HoH and is now rank 6.

Yes, if I buy good equipment (Fame or rank) then I'll be good. It's about personal achievement not buying your way to the top cause I'm rich.

As I said.. you HAVE to be FOTM to get a grp in HoH, wich is very dull. and since fame doesnt really do anything then prove you pvp alot i can't see why someone that pvp's alot in another arena then HoH would be stripped of his rights to fame.

people want fame to make those cool animals( i do too) but has become more than that now. especially in the international districts where people are looking for rank 6 players only. it like OMFG rank 6( i'm only rank1 atm). when i want to try some different build people always ask what rank are you or are you rank 3.
it's become mindless grind to get fame b/c thats what u need to prove that ur an "experienced player" these day, so many many peopl(inckuding self) just do iway b/c its an easy to get into group, any body can do it, and if u lose u just go back in and grind some more.

Ok, why people don't get fame from other arenas:
After holding the halls for over 10 consec times tonight (and winning euro favor) - had to mention.. You think we just walked in, strolled in and took it...?
No, its taken us days, weeks, probably just over a month to perfect our builds, change them and get the right people around at the right times.
We have put in one hell of a lot of effort to be able to walk into the hall anytime and win. We've worked and grinded for our fame and faction, and now it pays off.
When i was a low rank, i used to make my own builds, thats how my fame rolled in, used to make my own pugs and advertise for people all the time, we weren't winning hoh back then but it was fame farming like mad and we often got to hoh.
In other arenas, its stupidly easy to get any amount of wins, to farm stupid loads of faction. TA- loads of faction, go up a rank easy if what your saying were brought in.
GvG, ever heard of a smurf guild?
If fame were introduced for other arenas or for certain amounts of faction there would be a million rank 6-9+ ppls.

I think there's a reason why fame and rank is so hard to get. Who really wants to see everyone spamming their rank emote? It's interesting, because only a small proportion of the population has one. It gives the rest of the gw population who want one something to look forward to and work for, a goal. It would be pointless if everyone had one, it's so people actually stand out.

think about that suggestion. 10k faction for a rank? thats absurd. it only goes up to rank 12 (well, some rumor up to 15), and if i gain 40k faction a day, i will be the top rank in 3 days. what does that give to look forward to? perhaps minimal amounts of fame in other arenas is a decent suggestion, but tombs is where you can really coordinate builds and teamwork is most important. it takes the most skill and is hardest to suceed in, which is why rank should have meaning. i do agree though, that lots of times these days, rank means nothing. i have played with rank 8 players that are simply HORRIBLE and no matter what role theyre playing, they have no idea what theyre doing. also, if you get into a decent group, and you play well, someone will probably notice, and so you will be invited back into groups at other times, so that you have a large friends list and dont have to spam LFG in districts.

Random arena is random. Tactics are different, no coordination is required.
Team arena is slightly better, but still, its hardly fame worthy.
Tombs is an area with different scenarios on the maps. Holding the altar, relic runs, priests, and downright smash and bash. It takes MUCH more coordination to compose a good team and follow through with a plan. Also skills need to be coordinated to compliment each others builds. There are FotM's, but then anti-fotms appear, and people run those, and then people find that buiild to be so good, they copy it and tweak it do deal with any situation, and that becomes fotm.
YOU choose to grind for fame. I play what is fun to me, be it IWAY at times, or earth smite. If I don't like the build, I don't NEED fame, and to me it seems like you WANT it. Because of the skill needed to coordinate effectively and adapt to one another, as well as the maps, tombs does reward fame.
Don't think IWAY gets fame everytime, I've been the necro in agroup where they couldn't even take down the unworthy, no joke at all. Besides, those who GvG often get tons of faction, but when making a tombs build, GvG rank means nothing, other than that they coordinate well with each other. r1k guild has beaten a r400 something guild, not running counters to each other. If faction buys fame and rank than all these GvGers will think they are the best thing in the world, and this will eliminate the point of having a rank system in the first place.
Besides, if you get a person who has gained fame through IWAY, then you play with him, find out hes a noob, proceed to kick him.

Perhaps a 3rd catagory could be introduced for those who play in and excel in the arenas? Not fame or rank, but something different. Call it whatever...but it would still be a nice perk to work towards or show off for those who pvp but don't play tombs much.

team arenas is one thing, but random arenas, i mean, its random, so a lot of it is luck. and i dont know. small arenas like that are kind of insignificant. they are just for fun or practice. if people want to get serious about pvp, i suggest they just start tombing. i understand its hard at first, it was hard for everyone, but you get past that and eventually it gets really easy.

Me saying 10k faction was just a bit of a quick suggestion.. ofc that would be too easy. let's say it took you a month to gain one rank. that's fine then make it take a month to get in in team PvP arena too. It's still a matter of tactical setup's and strategy there.
I Agree that as some has point out the random arena might not be worth the rank or fame since .. well they doin't have to plan setups and stuff.
and another thing:

SO What ? If all theese people grinded for as long as you do in HoH but they did it in Team pvp arena.. so what then ? same amount of time pvp;ing means they are most likely great at team pvp. just as great as you are in HoH. And they'd probably kick your ass in Team pvp as much as you would them in HoH, cause i'm sure you realize that the tactics aren't the same when it comes to building a 4v4 group as in buiding a HoH grp.

Fame and Rank earned for the other arenas would make the reward of having the animals worthless. And Tombs isn't about the FotM, it's about adaptation. Sure if you say W/R lf IWAY group you'll have an instant group, but what happens when IWAY groups start dying out? Those w/r's will have to be able to change to other characters. I can currently run healing or protection or martyr monk (I actually invented the martyr monk here on this forum), KD/AS Warrior, IWAY Warrior, Modified W/R for special Smite Build, E/Mo Smiter, and Spiker, Trapper, Spirit or Marksman Ranger, and these are just the builds I've tried, I have enough stuff unlocked that I could try some other stuff too. Right now I'm unlocking for a n/me build. I am very flexible and that's how tombs is won.
PS here's the thread where I invented the martyr monk. After this I saw them all over tombs and it's an excellent build. It's on the first page, 16th reply from the top. http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...Strange+Builds
