[Feedback/Suggestion] Guild Wars Incites International Hatred
First off, some backstory. I have played plenty of online games in my time, and I have gotten myself involved in various online communities.
I started playing GW about 6 weeks ago, a bunch of people I know from one community had an active guild of around 80 members running. I joined the guild and enjoy chatting with them in the chat.
I also managed to convince a bunch of people I know in real life to buy the game, and we all play together during the week.
What does this have to do with international hatred?
Well I am from the UK, and thus play on the European districts.
My guild, on the other hand, is primarily American.
This means that it is almost impossible for me to engage in almost any PvE activity with my guild (I have only just started to get into PvP, and havn't tried to play with my guild at that yet).
Yesterday, they formed a group to hit FoW. They needed a Monk, and I was happy to help, but because only Americans could enter FoW at the time I was left behind.
Later that day, someone was asking for help with the Hells Precipice mission. Again, I was bored and happy to help. We met in the Intl district and were the only people there, we were forced to play with henchmen.
Basically it is impossible for me to hit UW/FoW with my Guild, and if we ever want to get together for PvE we have to use hanchies to fill out the team if required when we would rather use people.
I don't understand why the games population has to be segregated so severely. Why can't I head to American-2 for a few hours to have fun with my guild? Or have them come to EUR-EN-1 to meet me.
Why is it we can only meet up in the International ghost towns?
I appreciate that there is a sense of competition to gain access to FoW/UW, but why does it have to be location based.
Why do I have to try and take the Hall of Heroes from America when I would rather play with them than against them.
This game effectively makes foreigners opponents to be defeated, this is acceptable in competitions, but not in a casual game where you just want to have fun with other people no-matter where they are from.
Surely a system where a guild allies themselves with one of Tyria's gods, and you fight for that gods favor for access would be easier.
That way people could still compete for access to UW/FoW, and all members of a guild could enter when they have the favor of their god.
I really dislike the way the game almost completely segregates America/Europe/Korea, then makes them compete for access to the high level areas.
I would like to be able to switch between Europe/Korean/American districts at will.
I would prefer it the competition was based more on Guilds than Countries.
As it stands, it impossible to play with the people I have had so much fun with in other games.
My options are:
1) Swap server - At which point I would have the same problem with the people I know in real life (not in my guild)
2) Buy a second copy of the game to play on a differant server - Not gonna happen
I am quite dissapointed that ArenaNet don't have an official feedback system, instead I have to post on a fansite forum and hope that what I have to say gets read by a dev and doesn't get lost in all the background chatter of any busy forum.

not an issue for me personally, but:

I also don't like the way access to UW/FoW is tied to nationality - but I also wouldn't want it tied to guilds, since I'm not in a guild, and don't especially want to join one at this point.

The problem Im seeing is there is no real use for Int Districts seeing as how the current system works. It also means you are better of joining an European based guild right now unless the system changes because otherwise you are now severly limited.
