Guild Directory
This suggestion relates to the process new players go through when looking for a guild. In my experience, there is no guild list on the website or in-game, so people have to be recruited by other players as they're playing, and recruiting guilds have to sit around in towns spamming recruitment slogans. I'd like to see a system implemented to help out those players who want to choose their guild based on more than a cool name or the first recruiter they run into.
My idea is for a Guild Directory in the major cities, in the same area as the guild emblemer and registrar. It could take the form of a book or a sign, and open a search window when activated. Guilds can choose to be included in it or not, and supply extra information if they desire. They could rate themselves on PvP vs RP emphasis, mention their intended size, and list qualities that set them apart from other guilds. The Guild Leader would be included in the listing so that interested players can contact them. Some sort of messaging system that allowed notes to be sent to offline players and held until their next log-on would also be nice.
I bring this up because of the difficulty I've had in recruiting. My guild emphasizes commitment and artistic interest, and it is very difficult to find good recruits on chance meeting in-game. Those people I do recruit usually leave after a while because they realize that what they really wanted was a PvP pwnage guild. So a system like this would be a big help to me. I wouldn't have to spend all my gaming time hoping that I randomly run into one of the few people who share my ideals.

I agree, but there are alot of guilds out there, it might be hard to organize them all, but if they did, it would be nice. And mail, where they dont have to be on.

It also shouldn't be difficult for it to include the approximate number of guildmembers on at any given time; which is a breaking point for many people. The problem with that, of course, would be that it would become more difficult for small guilds to get up and running. However, it might encourage more unique guilds.
I do agree that it would be difficult to get all those guilds out there organized. I don't see it as too much of a problem though. Only the guilds interested in recruiting would sign up, and thus there would be less clutter for people searching through the directory. If you could yank your entry at any time, it would probably be beneficial for the same reasons.
There are various websites devoted to this sort of thing already; however, I think having one central and organized place for people to would be best. Otherwise, there's a lot of missed opportunities: one person is on one site, their dream guild is on another.

We could even make it a "matchmaking" service where the player rates him/herself on some criteria (like PvP vs. PvE emphasis and so on) and the service would find the 10 best suited guilds for them.
