TheKandidates idea for a Rogue class is a great idea but i want to submit my own version:
Rogue/Thief Attributes:
Stealth: Stealth skills include special 'stealth stances' these give the rogue protection bonuses and shrinks the 'Danger zone' so AI enemies dont attack until the rogue is closer, however the rogue also moves slower and any non-thief skills automatically cancel the stance (they simply arent quiet enough). Also influenced by the stealth attribute are Stealth attacks which can only be performed while in a stealth stance.
Agility: See TheKandidates 'Instinct' att
Light Weapons: Rogues specialty weapons are generally small like daggers, Kukri, or even nothing at all, adding points to this skill increases the damage inflicted by these weapons.
(Primary) Treasure Hunting: Increasing this attribute would slightly increase the amount of gold dropped by slain monsters and in PvP would increase the amount of Faction awarded, (similar to FunBuns Profiteer idea, even if it may have been intended as a joke) this attribute would be the main appeal of a primary thief and would actually make some demand for one in a party.

ENGINEER idea sounds cool, kind of sounds like the Terminator idea I came up with some time back...although it was pretty much a sarastic joke. Hey, I got a good laugh out of some of the replys.

^^Here's my Rogue class idea, complete with skill ideas for each attribute (except the Primary) as well as discussions of various points.
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ighlight=Rogue
Treasure Hunting is a bad idea because nowhere else in the game is there anything like it (except scrolls, but those aren't an inherent attribute). No other class has an inherent and lasting effect on the surrounding environment. Rangers, of course, have spirits, which come closest, but those do not have a permanent effect on the players. I can't imagine Treasure Hunting skills. (Well, I could, but they wouldn't fit in with the game.) Even as a primary attribute it's somewhat ridiculous.
Stealth is very difficult, because it also involves a major change in game mechanics. I do have stealth in my class proposal, but there's a lot of discussion on the implementation. Your way is actually fairly reasonable, though I don't know about shrinking your aggro circle. I like the idea of having Stealth as Stances... now that I think about it, that's a much better way than Enchantments. The only problem is how to get rid of it, discounting Wild Blow and the like (although it would give more cause to use those... unless they're in common use now... sorry, not a Warrior, heh)
Er. Anyway. Your thoughts?

Actually the Engineer class has a FF Tactics feel to it and I kinda like it...
No reason a little technology couldn't be added... heck the have catapults and ballistas, and the dwarves have gunpowder.
Might make an interesting addition to the game once the worked out some of the skills for it. Since the OP suggested a "gun" weapon, there could be a form of marksmanship to go with it... maybe called "aiming" or something like that. Give it a kind of "trick shooting" line with skills that might be usable with some of the distance weapons (staves, rods, bows) and it could get interesting.

Ok, scratch the treasure hunting idea (i only thought of it as i typed anyway). How about combining the rogue and engineer ideas? Make Agility the primary attribute and add a Chemistry attribute, which would cover explosives and maybe gun weapons. Or add a seperate attribute for gun weapons, after all, warriors have 5 attributes so why can't rogues?
Guns could easily be added to guild wars lore because the expansion is supposed to be set in Cantha, a land that players have been told next to nothing about.

Why not? Its obvious ppl want rogues and that we all have different ideas for what we would want a GW version of a rogue should be like. If youre tired of rogues post up your own idea

i say a ele/ranger type of charector more like a elementalist that can have limited healing use more passive skills like entangle or call ents (you no like the ones from lotr) to hel fight the enemies they would use qauterstaffs primary attribute would b wilderness survival witch will have something to do with being able to call on the animals and nature to fight enemies
i love druids and would definitlyt want to have this included tell me your ideas and suggestions this isnt well thought out but... u get the general idea
the monk should be more of a disiplined warrior like dianica in the cleric quintet series by R.A. Salvator and the monk shoulkd b a cleric
also i think the monk should be able to chose a deity to serve maybe a monk that worships melandru will just b like a druid a monk that serves grenth would b molre like a monk/necro and so on so forth
regardles of whats trhe new char/s it needs 2 b more physical as opposed to the mostly long ringe chars now

^^They have some Roguelike aspects (Arcane Thievery, their ability to hinder enemies as well as or better than any other class) but they are, at best, a form of magic rogue. Theoretically they're illusionists, which fits as well as anything else. While illusionists and rogues both work on the basis of trickery and deception, there are obvious differences. Most obviously, classic rogues use little or no magic. (I'd say they could have a few magical abilities, like Energy Daggers or Steal Enchantment, but maybe not, or those could be reworked to be normal Skills like Power Attack or Shock or whatever.) Also, mesmers are heavily involved with using the Energy of the enemy against them. That's not exactly a standard thing for Rogues (or, really, anyone). One of the main bases for including a Rogue class, in my opinion, would be that it's an alternate melee class (Throw Dagger aside), which mesmers, of course, aren't (...Illusionary Weaponry aside). Mesmers have nothing in the way of stealth, although you could argue that it would fit in with the illusion theme-- but as it stands, they don't have anything like that. I know that Rangers were going to originally, but it got axed. My vote is to give it another try.

To anyone who thinks the "Mesmer is the Rogue":
1. An unprincipled, deceitful, and unreliable person; a scoundrel or rascal.
2. One who is playfully mischievous; a scamp.
3. A wandering beggar; a vagrant.
4. A vicious and solitary animal, especially an elephant that has separated itself from its herd.
5. An organism, especially a plant, that shows an undesirable variation from a standard.
Anyone see any resemblance to a Mesmer here? I can't find any. Just because the Mesmer has "Rogue's Armor" means nothing at all. A Monk's "Wanderers Armor" doesnt mean he is a wanderer does it? Its just a name. Gosh.

so far i am seeing the same stuff all over again when i eas expecting something about the two examples that i have on my first post...well i guess have the tendency to not even read the entire first post before they start posting there ideas away like maniacs i do like that some ppl are also sick of seeing the same things over and over again hence why i suggested something that i heard about weapon ideas into a profession idea so if there could be any new professions based off of any new weapons except samurais ninja rogues engineer or anything else that has been posted in the past both in this thread or any other i would lke to see it or any attribute ideas for my two examples...thank you.
