Poll: How Rare is Rare : Item Drops
I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right place .... or move it wherever it's belong to.............
1. Are you happy with the drops? are you getting decent drops?
2. How would you feel if a few of us getting or buying dirt cheap and sell that items for one Million and become Millionaire in one day?
Here's how I see it, If you play one hour and hoping to get 10k and getting 10k , you break even. Just like going to work. If you get hire to make $20/Hr, end of the day (8 hours of work) you'll get $160 before tax.
Here's my story , I never get decent drops, So I have to buy cheap (items, dyes,Runes etc) and sell Decent to keep me Alive and good shape in GW (500k, some ectos , 15k Armor)...
Wh'at is your story?

Umm.... Just FYI, if you've got 500k + some ectos, you are getting good drops. GW recently noted that the average player has less than 20k in gold on their account (it didn't say anything about inventory value, but I'd assume that there aren't too many people sitting around with 100 ectos and no cash), so if you have over 500k, you're doing very well, since the ways of accumulating that kind of money are limited, you either run a lot to make money, farm a lot and get good drops to make money, win the hall of heroes a lotor hit the jackpot with one or two really lucky drops and managed to make a huge amount all at once. Either way, if you aren't getting good drops, you have enough money that you should be able to buy just about anything you want except for the absolute best or the absolute most rare items.
My story, I've got basic Drok's armor on my 3 level 20s, I have about 40k total between all of them, and I've only had two drops that have been worth anything: one was a +30 hale head staff that salvaged into 11 wood instead of the hale, the other is a celestial sigil that I won at HoH. And I have so much money that I can't figure out what to do with it.

Sounds like your drops are better than mine, actually. I'm pretty content with around 90k and 3 characters in droks armor. None in 15k.

drop vary from person to person. taking on a poll on this isn't going to prove anything.
the guys that farmed UW and FoW 500 times could say their drops sux. that's b/c of the degenerating loot. while the guy that's been there 10 times might say its good.
its all subject to how much and how often you farm the same spot. no poll can prove how many times you have farmed that area and what your degenerating loot is at.

I think the drops that you get from monsters are utterly ridiculous. I'm lucky to get anything max damage...nevermind useful.
I solo'd Witmans Folly three times (which takes a long time) and killed all the Grawl except for a couple of the bosses and all i got for my trouble was a gold cesta with non-max casting mod.
I killed every Storm Kiln, Hydra (including bosses) and the majority of the Rockshots/Jades in Salt Flats and all i got was a 15AL defender and a non-max accursed staff. This was from clearing it out 4 times.
The Sand Drakes are now equally pitiful, but were still good fun up until the Sorrows Furnace update.
I thought i'd return to the desert after being bitterly disappointed by Sorrows Furnace drops but things in Elona are equally miserable.
/stop now before i rant

4 PvE characters (3 level 20)
Monk/Mesmer - 15k armor
Ranger/Monk - 15k armor
Mesmer/Elementalist - 15k armor
Necromancer/Monk - Only level 9 ATM, but I am planning on buying her 15k
The funny thing is, I did not pay for any of my armor or any of my items...
That being said, since I have not paid for anything that I own in guildwars... I "only" have about 50k.... but then again, I never farm, and all the items I get, I just give them to my guild mates.

This sounds crazy but I've found that the more I play the worse the drops. I mean if I play for awhile....I mean hours on tops of hours daily I don't get good drops.
The most success I've had is wait a day or two between playing. In the span of 1 day playing without playing in the past 3 days yielded 3 black dyes, 5 or so Gold items and a bunch of good items.
The best place I've recently to farm is the Aurora Glade mission.

That's the only reason I have any gold in game at all. I REFUSE to pay those outrageous prices, and make do with what I find or can buy for a couple k or less. My monk, who I get a reasonable amount of compliments (some complaints, but you can only outheal/prot so much agro, ya know?), is using a plain 12 energy white offhand and a purple pos max damage wand (+2 energy under 50% health or some garbage). /shrug. Get's the job done, it's worse off for warriors/rangers who NEED a max damage weapon to perform their job properly. That's why I made a my casters first, and just now made a warrior after the max damage weapons have been accumulated in my bank.

4 level 20 PvE charecters which i also use for PvP, all with 15k, some with more than one set so i can chop and change for different play styles and i'm halfway to getting my first FoW armour. Sup runes on all four, including sup vigour and absorb on my warrior and what i consider very good weapons items on them all.
How.... just by playing the game and getting item drops, i think in my entire GW playing time (since the offical release) i've brought about two less than perfect weapons off other people for about 2k each... the rest of my money/items come from some mild farming with my monk, or just doing missions from the latter half of the game to help people who haven't done them, and obviously doing FoW/UW.
It's just the random luck factor if you get good drops or not, if there wasn't good drops, why would people have "good" items?

I don't know why people put up with mediocre items (like the monk above who has a white offhand item). Desert collector items can be made into perfect or near perfect items! Why do people always neglect this route. The monk Collector Ankh (+12 Energy, 20/20 Cast time/Recharge) is the BEST monk offhand item and all it takes is 5 hydra claws and a short run out of Augury! Heck, you can buy Hydra claws for 50g each or so and get the best item in the game.
Same can be said of elementalists...I use the collector Fire Wand/Artifact on my fire ele and I can't imagine anything being much better. 100k for Rago's Flame staff? Sure it's a slightly better item, but surely not 99k better. Weapons you ask? The collector have those too! Get the cherished 15% more damage (Health > 50%) mod on your weapon then go buy which mods you want! Instead of having to wait for your perfect drop, you can make your own for a fraction of the cost. An no, don't buy those "SUNDERING 10/10 NO nOOb OFFERS!!!" mods, get the 10/8 sundering for a fraction of the price.
I think I fall in the middle class in terms of wealth on GW. I have 160k in the bank, 2 characters in 15k armor, 2 in Drok, 3 deleted characters that had Droknar's armor(I really should've gotten another account *sigh*). I farm now and then, but more importantly, I spent my money wisely and I think my characters are 95%-98% as good as the people who spent 1 million platinum trying to be perfect.
On the other hand, I realize there are people that are so rich that they have nothing better to spend their money on. I fully support these people as well. They earned their money, so they should reap the benefits of their work (however slight those benefits may be). Not everyone should be entitled to the absolute best items in the game. But we mortals can get darn close.

I have to admit I'm hacked off with the standards of the drops I get - if I get anything that is Quite a few times it's appeared the game has forgot I'm there and others get three or four drops before I get even one, and the way drops are allocatted is poor too - yesterday I spent two hours in the Fissure and completed a few quests - what did I get for drops? loads of dust and stuff only suitable to be salvaged into wood or iron, yet 2 other party members walked out with 2 shards each, and a 3rd got 3 shards and 3 nice gold weapon drops (not chests - the only one we found was purple). I know the drops are supposed to random, but I've found this is a common occurance and some just get allocatted the best drops all the time, while others consistantly get sod all.

"loads of dust and stuff only suitable to be salvaged into wood"
Amount of XP , Rank , Skill unlocked (Elite, Regular) , Location Monster Level = $$$ (Rare Item) Award (Compensate) (Ex: Divinity Coast reward some golds)
The First 5 consecutive, FOW upon finish first quest, One shard? one max rare items?
( I hate sitting out in LA, Forge doing WTB, WTS Crap, I don't really need perfect weapon, or Fissure armor, but If I put in some decent hours of playing, I should be compensate for my time with some decent drops., we all should ) Agreee? or Disagree?

Completely disagree. If you play the game regularly, you can have max armor and a max damage 15>50% weapon (or 20/20 wand/staff) before you get to Thunderhead keep. That's really all anyone needs to be competitive. The other things like fissure armor and crystal swords and whatnot are designed for people who play excessive amounts of time to have something to accomplish. The average player doesn't need any of these things, nor do the "deserve" to get them.
Honestly though, you've got close to 1 million in resources available to you. Short of the most rare items available, there isn't anything that you can't afford to get. If you want a perfect weapon, grab a collecter's item, pay ~100k and slap on your favourite mods and you're good to go. Or buy the equivalent green weapon. I don't understand why you're complaining about this.

Well, I must be getting your share then. :P I farm Hydras more than anything else (just got claw #250 today) and get golds and purples consistently (2+ golds, 5+ purples every day). I just put up for auction a 20<50, +29 health hammer that I got from Skyward Reach. The next day I got a 19<50 zealous Falchion. I've got several nice bows and a decent shield which will be in my next auction. That was all this week, from clearing out the Hydras. Sure I get plenty of white and blue drops, but I always ID everything blue, because a 11-18 blue sword can ID to be "precious" and be worth 160 gold. Nevermind that the average Hydra gold drop is around 100g. and Elonian keys stack, and are worth 225 each, and I have 29 of them now from drops alone. I consistently net 20k-30k a day in the desert when I farm hard. I don't need the money, I just like to see what I'm gonna find next.
