Please, everyone... don't discount Rangers anymore than any other class. I've been playing a Ranger since January Beta and I will always have him in my roster. Rangers are targeters, adding conditions to our prey and directing fire to the enemy. The Ranger has to know which targets are the most dangerous or at least be able to quickly assess that. A bad call could divide the party's attack and cause the group to meet a quick end.
I've seen groups with no monk or warrior primaries breeze through missions... the trick is, finding a group where everyone knows thier role. If everyone does their part and cooperates, you should be able to make it through almost every mission with only minor attrition.
Give it a try some time... just for laughs, cobble a group together from just anyone around and watch how the mission plays out...

Now here's the kicker... My ranger is who I've gotten farthest with in the game. BUT, I still have rangers lowest on my list of people I want in a team. I have never met a ranger that turned the tide of battle, I have never met a ranger that truly worked me over in pvp. Even my ranger, with many builds tried, I still don't think she's a key player in any team (and I sometimes do feel bad about that, as if I'm not carrying my weight in a team).
I hate to discriminate here, but I find them more useless than a mesmer in PvE. BUT! There is another but... If you get a ranger trapping team. It's a whole different story. Rangers decimate in PvE in trapping teams. I love doing missions in trapping teams, and I love UW trapping teams. I love playing my ranger as a trapper. I carry a +16 energy staff just so I can lay even MORE traps.
Necros, no matter what class I play as, will always be a vital part of any team I'm on.

What are you talking about? necros are always wanted. BiP necros are used in FoW basically all the time, people are looking for battery necros non stop theres even a tombs build that uses almost all necros (FOC). Mesmers are the ones who should be complaining not necros who are wanted just about everywhere for everything.

To me thats just the point, all people look to necs for are specific builds that go off of one skill. They only think of a nuking spell (though I admit I play FoC a lot) or a skill that takes up an elite just to support monks. No one regards or talks about faintheartedness, or my fav and one of the most underrated skills in the game: mark of subversion (its like a reverse healing spell). No one talks about any of these skills or regards them as possible great things. My guild group did infinitely better in FoW when I went with a Spiteful build rather than a BiP. There'ss just no variety for us necs if we wanna play. Everyone wants the same nec.

I was going to say that i have never seen ar heard of a necro being rejected for their class but i seem to have been beaten to it.
I do want to say that i agree mesmers are generally rejected, because quite frankly i've played as one and can say that i found it totally useless and slightly sexually threatening, they desperately need to be fixed so they can do some damage or anything really. No offence to any mesmers out there, indeed i admire your dedication.

I think necromancers are turned down because people can't play them themselves so they automatically think they suck. I agree that they are behind the lines casters and their spells are not as easily noticed as others.
One thing I have noticed that shows the power of these characters is in the arena. Whenever I play arena I'm normally the first attacked normally by a warrior in which their ego is so big that it gets them killed by my blood skills. I think people see the potential of these characters when they face them themselves. Other than that they go for the damage dealers in pve.
Necro rules. The End.
I hope my name isn't one of those horrible names.
