Well, having a skill called beast mastery means he controls whichever animal he wants (that being limited to the 6-7 that can be charmed). I think that it would be nice if you could have 5 charm skills (one for each type of pet;eg. bird, cat, wolf, bear and pig). Whether it allows you to use all 5 at once or not, would be another decision for the devs. IF they DID allow all 5 to be used at the same time, the ranger could have up to 5 pets under his control simultaneously, all the while using up 5 slots in his skill bar. That will leave him with 3 skills left to use wisely. Now that would be a BEAST MASTER. You lose more skills when using more pets. Just my .02
Edit: Forgot about the lizard and the spider, so add those to the charmed animals available.

5 pets x 8 people in a party=48 creatures(humans and pets) on your team.

I really don't use a pet, but I don't think that's a bad idea at all. Why not be able to change your pet, well, limited to 2, whenever you want to? Generally speaking. Obviously, means more coding to the programmers, editing, etc. But why not be able to switch to like a wolf, to a moa, and back, just to see how you like it?

on the experiment thing: theres nothing to actually find out maybe, but you might personally prefer another pet. However I wouldn't want to give up my lvl 20 strider just to find out that i hate the wolf when it reaches level 20, and have to go back and re-level up another strider. would just be nice.

I think it would be good, and would work especially well if pets were customised like weps so players couldnt store high level pets and use them for their low level rangers.

I'm sorry, but I really don't see development being done for a "pet kennel" just so a few people can do "experiments" when there's nothing to experiment with in the first place!

I think you just answered your own problem. Different pets have different types of damage. And we pick our weapons in GW for Warrior and Ranger depending on what type of damage we want to do, or like best. So experimenting on which kind of damage we like our pet doing best, is kinda the point.

I'm sorry, but you can't draw a valid comparison between a Warrior's choice of a weapon and a Ranger's choice of a pet. Warriors experiment with different weapons because a change in weapon results in an entirely new set of abilities and build options (NOT something that happens when you get a new pet). Warrior's don't try out different weapons simply to see the difference between slashing, piercing, or blunt damage.
If there were more significant differences between the pets, I would agree with this idea. But as of right now, it's not needed.

lol well if pets gave us different skills for different pets, that'd be cool. But why should i have to either take my lvl 20 blunt dmg "weapon/pet" out against mursaat OR decide to get a better dmg e.g. piercing or something "weapon/pet" but its only lvl 8 just I just charmed it.
If anything it just makes it MORE important. A warrior takes the wrong type of weapon, he probably has enough skills to balance it out a bit. out of the 8 skills, there has to be something useful in there. We take the wrong pet and we do both rubbish dmg with it AND waste 2 skill slots.

the easiest thing to do is to create different pet capture skills.
make 1 with a wolf on it.....for your wolf.
1 with a bear on there, you guessed it.....for the bear.
and make it a buyable skill, like the SoC.
Make it where you can only use 1 at a time, like an Elite.
I just got rid of a lvl 20 Bear.....didnt want to, but i want a spider.
