An open letter to Anet
Dear Arena Net. When I first bought this game a few weeks after release good gold items were in abundance. Recently I made a new character and took him through to ember light camp. I saw two gold weapons and one gold rune salvage that ended up being a major. I even did some quests in-between missions. Of the two gold weapons one was really bad and the other we dont know. That equals about 20 hours of play that I saw these, and not one of them were mine.
To make matters worse if I want to buy an item that is decent I have to pay out 50k to 100k. How do I make this money if I dont buy it from Ebay? I dont find good drops to sell or trade for a weapon I need, so what do I do?
You may as well change the name of this game to "Solo farming ecto with monk build" because that is all pve is good for anymore.
Are you trying to nerf the gold farmers and sellers on ebay? We NEED them, dont you understand? We need gold to flow. Please dont nerf good gold drops because we are all suffering the monotony of digging for drops and coming up dry.
Thanks

I agree that alot of the good places for drops have been severely nerfed but you can still make money otherwise but of course through farming and also buying and selling and good gold (or any gold) items are sort of rare (guess thats the whole point of being rare..).
I remember my first character ranger found lots of rare drops, that is lots of purples and golds and never farmed once, just by going through quests and missions. Now even with my warrior doing lots of farming, rare drops seem slightly scarce but money can still be raised quite decently.
Still this is okay, if you think about it without nerf, everyone would be at riverside province farming so easily or any other spots and the economy might have been quite outbalanced.

I agree. ANet should INCREASE the gold and item drops to devalue Ebay auctions. The rarer items and gold become, the more they'll be worth for the people that have time to play the game and find them (ie. bot farmers and hardcore gamers).
I seem to remember reading something about "playing skill > time played." Yet, it's obvious that those with the best equipment, runes and unlocked skills have a greater chance at success. If you disagree, take a lvl 20 character with AL 30 into the Crystal Desert. My point will be made.
Please, help stop the secondary market on Ebay by increasing good item drops and gold abundance.

Its still a part of this game so I don't see what the problem is?
Oh, I get it!! People don't like change, the update changed nothing about the possiblity or ability for Ele's to use AOE and do good damage or someone's ability to successfully and continually solo-farm.
They bumped the bee's nest - buzz buzz buzz buzz - big deal, now go back inside the hive and BEE happy once again.

wait... i missed the part about having to buy a decent item at 50-100k... i think you added an extra 0 there.
most decent items sell at 5-10k range. 50k+ is for perfect weapons or rare skins. stop trying to buy chaos axes or perfect fellblades and you won't be poor.

They've said that they know farming is a part of it. They've said that what they dont like is "high end content farming". In other words, the UW. You can still farm! Figure out some other way to do it or stop complaining. God forbid you face a challenge in life- a challenge in a game at that. Come on, work a little.

Let the spice flow...
More of a problem than gold really is the fact that you simply are not rewarded for any action you take in this game. In the begining of the game this wasn't a problem but when all the drops are reduced to 0.01% or flat out removed from the game rewards become nill and motivation to play goes out the window.
I gave up my playing of online world games like AO and CoH. Then this game came out. I did a BWE and thought it was fun. After playing for a month or so my friends and I all discovered how much the reward of playing the game has been removed. So I went back to my swearing of never doing an MMO of any variety again. Then I heard that AO (my favorite of all the MMOs I've played) has free accounts now for the original game no expansions. At least there I get rewarded for my actions. GW got broken, I can only pray it gets fixed before chapter 2. In the meantime, hello AO!
