Burning, Bleeding and running away...
Perhaps this is in here already, but Im not going to search for it...
Question... When was the last time you saw a person, who is on fire, run away and the fire go out?
Answer: NEVER, because fires dont burn out when you run.
Now that the AI is "smarter" and they run away why not make skills like rodgorts and bleeding last longer on enemies that run? The makers want more realism... so the AI runs away which makes sense... What makes no sense is, if they run and are on fire, why do they still go out?
Suggestion: Skills that cause burning, ie rodgorts, and bleeding skills(sever artery) will be extended if foe runs away. Extended, of course, will have its limits, but so long as you are moving these conditions should last longer than normal.

Let's push realism to a brand new level. If you're set on fire, just go into water or /sit in snow and you'll be instantly cured. Also, let's make everything a 1-hit kill. I mean getting hit in real life by a sword, axe or hammer means you'll probably die after one or two hits.

doesn't that make bleeding skill super godly? the last thing we need is a monk saying i cannot run when 2 worriors r wacking at him.

I vote burning follows the "stop, drop and roll" idea. If you stop moving, it goes out quicker, if you run, it lasts longer.

I should have expected such responses. The idea that the AI are acting more "real" only tells me the creators want more realism. This does not mean that a single sword blow will kill you, or that sitting in the snow will cure your burning. (however in water poison times are shorter so...) And monks....lol, you have remove condition spells right? Sounds like some posters cant handle using other skills. So, if you are burning, and you run into water, you go out... agreed. The snow thing, wont happen as snow would melt around you. Bleeding would, as I said, have limitations, and surely skills would come about that could counter such things. Perhaps the constant bleeding could be used as a Necro spell of sorts. Who knows.. Bottom line, its only an idea that was looking for more suggestions, not useless comments like some of you so kindly posted.

If you want realism you might have to amend, oh, say
THE ABILITY OF PEOPLE BEING ABLE TO LIGHT OTHERS ON FIRE WITH MAGIC.

Technically, a person only needs a deodorant (not a roll-on, that'll be weird) and a lighter to ignite another human being. It ain't hard.
A part from that, I don't get why on earth burning would last LONGER if you run. Wouldn't it just burn for the same amount of time as if you stood still?
Alas, I see how bleeding could be worse if you run:
Activity = Blood circulation = Blood splatter everywhere if you got a hole in your thigh.
However, hitting someone in the head would be activity too, so bleeding should stay the same as it is, but decrease if you stood still, doing nothing.
While we're at it, to add more realism how about removing the whole concept of "magic" and "spells", aswell of the strange idea of religious baldies being able to mend severed flesh and broken bones? That way, the only professions would be ranger and warrior.
Wow, wouldn't that be fun? Ranger traps would have a cast time of around 10minutes, not counting the time it takes for your character to go get materials and you'd have to spend a couple of platinum for pet food, litter boxes and transport crates for your Melandru's Stalker cat, which would also require special legal documents for you too own it, since it's a rare breed. Warriors on the other hand would have to have a passive energy degeneration of 5, since they obviously carry ridiculously heavy armor. A single piece is made of 75 iron ingots! That's 50 kg right there!

Of course I understood what you meant
Just trying to make a point drenched in humorous sarcasm to make it easier to swallow.
All I mean is that pointing out every little piece of surreal game mechanics in a fantasy-themed RPG is pointless. If they try and make the game a replica of the real world, why on earth would we play it?
But trust me, I knew the thought behind your post, even if it wasn't actually directed at you, Rosette. The very first part about igniting people, however, was meant for you to read.

How about burning and bleeding to cause slowness as well... May have to change the duration and damage done to balance things to make it work without making them too powerful... But the realism is that while they're burning or bleeding, their movements and attacks are slowed cos they're trying to put out the fire or patch themselves up at the same time (and as it's a fantasy world, women aren't the only ones who could multi task )...
Will explain why the burning and bleeding stops... Oops! Then the realism ends when you realise that there are no fire blanket or med kit drops...

Warriors would burn less than female Elementalists because the warriors are wearing nonflammable steel and the elems are wearing tissue paper. Then again, female elems aren't wearing very much, so they shouldnt burn as long as male elems or rangers, who wear more clothes.
And lol at the person who thinks "realistically" standing in water will put out a fire, but standing in snow wont.

Can someone tell me the last time they were subjected to a shower of huge rocks that didn't kill them?
Or perhaps did kill them, but not permanently as there was a handy resurrection shrine ten feet away?
Point being, this is a video game. Real isn't what you're used to.
By the way, people who are on fire can still run... fast. It might fan the flames, but why should they get crippled?

It makes sense now that the AI is smarter, that our skills only get more smarter, as well. Make effects now that if soandso runs, it does something, or if soandso stands still, something happens. Make it also very balanced so the PVPers can't cry about it being used to be "Godly" in arenas.
Then, maybe, I'll give it a /signed.
Good idea, bad execution, just like the AI update! :P

Or just replace all swords, axes, hammers, staves, rods, truncheons, and
bows with handguns.

Guns go Boom. Me no like boom.
But Seriously, I wasn't hinting at that from the post, but just tweak the skills already in game, not add new ones, just make it like said, bleeding lasts longer, cripple, or whatnot.

Or, we could get rid of all realism. People can fly and throw stuff across the map, and kill trolls with their pinky toe.
Point is, there's a balance. Broadly rejecting more realism or more fantasy with hyperbolic statements doesn't really help.

The Yin MUST be balanced with the YANG
AKA, Realism needs to be balanced with Fantasy to create the real effect. Too real, I feel like I'm simulating real life <No thanks, I hate the SIMS>, and too fantasy, I feel like Gandalf from LOTR riding into a battle and coming out without a scratch.
So with balance in mind, tweak the skills and tweak again, to re-balance, but give us something over the same-old skills to combat the new AI glitchiness, like "placed" AOE spells, referring to another post.
