New Profession Revealed - The Politician!
Yes, it is finally here! The sneak peek at sneakier-than-sneaky Chapter 3! Journey through the land of Tyria as the most feared foe of all - the Politician! Spead havoc and confusion through order and purpose! Bring entire countries to your knees! Yes, YOU now have the power to change Tyria - FOREVER!
NEW ATTRIBUTES!
Legerdemain: No inherent effect. Many Politician skills, especially skills that deceive and trick targets, become more effective with higher Legerdemain.
Gerrymandering: No inherent effect. Many Politician skills, especially skills that separate or unite targets, become more effective with higher Gerrymandering.
Charisma: No inherent effect. Many Politician skills, especially skills that let you get out of your pants before your ass catches on fire, become more effective with higher Charisma.
Clout: For each point of Clout, your gold-acquisition skills provide you with more gold per use.
NEW CONCEPTS!
Gold-Acquisition! Unlike other characters, a Politician's skills are not powered by Energy. Instead, many skills require a minimum amount of gold to activate, and cannot be used when your inventory is devoid of gold. Fortunately, gathering resources is something all Politicians learn early on, and as long as you have gold-acquisition skills equipped and a target ready, your political apparatus should keep working as smooth as ever. Watch out for the costly campaigns, though: should you overextend yourself, you might need to start begging for gold instead!
No one is safe from the Politician! Unlike Enchantments and Hexes, many Politician skills can be used on friend and foe alike! Though most are clearly beneficial, some might not like losing their gold to power the Politician's ambitions without consent.
Interns! Why should Rangers be the only profession with a pet? Tied to the popular Charisma attribute, Interns are the ever-faithful followers who always adventure with the politician. Take good care of your Intern, and it will serve you well for years to come; do wrong by it, and when your Politician secrets are all revealed you shall find out there is no fury like an Intern scorned!
NEW WEAPONS! For brevity, and to let each GuildWars player discover them on their own, only the names of the weapons are provided:
I'm wielding a Left Wing Radical!
I'm wielding a Conservative Rightist of Stupidity!
I'm wielding a Zealous Necktie of Shielding!
I'm wielding a Flaming Doctrine of Fortitude and a Crimson Briefcase of Deflection!
Monica the Intern is wielding a Ebon Cigar of Inappropriatness!
NEW CONDITION: Boredom! While Bored, you cannot attack or use skills. Boredom ends if you become a target of an attack or skill. A Politician can ignore the effects of Boredom.
NEW SKILLS!
Proclamation of Boredom: Skill. Target becomes Bored for X seconds. Each second the target is Bored, you lose Y gold. (Attrib: Charisma)
Filibuster: Skill. You and all nearby targets become Bored for X seconds. This effect ends when you are no longer Bored. (Attrib: Charisma)
Devotion: Skill. Your Intern loses -20 armor for X seconds and performs an attack against the target. If the attack hits, for Y seconds, the target can only attack your Intern. (Attrib: Charisma)
Campaign Slogain: Hex Spell. For X seconds, target cannot attack and gains health regeneration +Y. When Campaign Slogan ends, you gain Z gold. (Attrib: Charisma)
Paperwork: Hex Spell. Target is unable to move for X seconds. This effect ends if target takes fire damage. (Attrib: Gerrymandering)
Paperwork Armor: Enchantment Spell. For X seconds, you gain +Y armor against physical damage, but lose -40 armor against fire damage. (Attrib: Gerrymandering)
Donation: Gold-Acquisiton Skill. Target loses X gold, and you gain X gold. (Attrib: Legerdemain)
Embezzle: Gold-Acquisition Skill. Interrupt target's action. If that action was a skill, you steal X gold from target. (Attrib: Legerdemain)
Support Group: Gold-Acquisition Skill. For 30 seconds, up to X targets in your area lose Y gold a second each, which you gain. This effect ends for each target as soon as you target it with an attack or skill. (Attrib: Legerdemain)
Membership Fee: Gold-Acquisition Skill. Steal X gold from each ally. For Y seconds, each ally you stole gold from can target you with Hexes. (Attrib: Legerdemain)
No Refunds: Gold-Acquisition Enchantment Spell. Whenever an ally attempts to leave the party, you steal X gold from that ally. (Attrib: Clout)
"Would I Lie to You?!" Shout. Up to X targets in the area lose Y gold, which you gain. Any continuous gold-acquisition skills on those targets end. (Attrib: Charisma)
Extortion: Elite Gold-Acquisition Skill. For X seconds, target experiences gold degeneration of Y, which you gain as gold regeneration. This effect ends after the target loses Z gold. (Attrib: Legerdemain)
Popular Support: Elite Enchantment Spell. While you maintain this enchantment, your gold-acquisition skills acquire 50% more gold than normal. While maintaining this enchantment, you lose X gold every 2 seconds. (Attrib: Clout)
BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE!
These exciting new concepts are sure to shake up the balance of power in Tyria, but they are not in any way exhaustive of the Politicians' powers! Find out for yourself the true extent of the might of the Bureaucracy! Pick up Chapter 3 today!!!

"It's fuzzy math."
The man's so good he confuses himself into being unable to finish a single sentence. There's one like that in every speech
Props go to Erika Swift for initiating the concept in a conversation earlier today.

This Profession is too scary. GW would have to be Adult only to consider this Profession, and even then, only 40% of the population would bother to participate....
