It would help, either if the alter changes to the held teams color or if an icon comes up on your screen signifying which team holds it.

So big letters with "Altar Capture" in red or green, don't help? Plus a little writing on the top saying which team or just look at the flags around.

Lol... sometimes you miss it. And sometimes you dont even know if anyone captured the alter. Lets say Broken Tower for example. Since its 1 vs 1 both teams could easily kill the hero and no one captures the alter. This is the reason for orb control. You want to be able to keep you hero alive to capture the alter, so the orb will res him and you may be able to cap. As a warrior, I tab through targets, looking for ones without enchants, low life, or lots of conditions / degen. If I'm looking around waiting for the text to say you have captured alter, or enemy captured the alter, then I'm not doing my job. Also I have to run orbs if it comes down to the point where I have to res hero. If I have to run orbs, I'm looking at my mini-map for enemy players. I have to get the orb before they do, or if they get the orb, I have to make sure they are dead. Obviously this leaves no time to look at flags and notice an alter capture that isn't on the screen for long. So having a way to distingiush who has the alter would be convenient.

No need for that attitude
Try monking in the halls, thing your looking at isnt the main screen and a little reminder would go a long way rather than having to ask or look around
Nice idea
