Almost silly to the point of being worth it...
Simply put... You can dye weapons. You can dye armor. You can even dye scars.
I want to be able to use dye on hair.

however - black hair costs most expensive? well orange (ginger) and yellow (blondey) are cheap, so surely that's a bit out...and then having purple and green is really cheap, like wtf.
My suggestion would have it to be a separate dying thing, say at a hair stylist trader where you can dye your hair and black is nice and cheap, and also you can restyle your hair.

...I thought my hairstyle was cool until I noticed that EVERY SINGLE OTHER player of that class uses it. Now I want to delete my 115-hour character just because of the hair. And I just might too... because I can be that vain

It's funny... I'm the only ranger out there I see that went with the gray hair. Adds a distinguished look, imo.

I bet arena net skips over these, or they just read them and snort their beer out of their noses.

Although I'm for this suggestion because customization in most anyway can only improve a game for the players. I still can't believe that the OP would suggest something as trivial as this after dissing a valid "suggestion" of mine with...

Well, apologies... the "work" required in picking up gold isn't much of an issue, however customization of characters is often brought up as something requiring addressing.
That, and I had a fit of boredom at work.

I've signed many a "Dye" post in my time here, another one won't hurt!

I feel this would be great to allow you to customize your character further, give more control back to the player, instead of being pushed an prodded which way to go! Vive La Resistance!

I like the idea to change your hairstyle or even to dye your hair. But I do see a small problem, say another player of the same class sees you and thinks cool hair and colour. Then your back to having clones.
What I think would be cool is if Arena Net allowed us to add a picture of ourselves into the game, like when you make your character. You can choose your picture or one of the faces from the game. Just like some sport games, or first person shooter games. That to me would be really cool.
